STELLAR DELIVERS ON NEW BEACHFRONT CAFÉ PROJECT
Stellar aluminium bifold doors have been manufactured and installed on a new beachfront café refurbishment project in Aberporth in Cardigan Bay. The newly-launched Caffi Driftwood underwent a total building transformation into a modern dogfriendly café which is proving popular with tourists, walkers and local residents.
The manufacture and installation of the 5-leaf and 3-leaf Stellar bifold doors was awarded to experienced Stellar fabricator, GD Windows. Tristan Jones of GD Windows explains: “The former public house closed as a result of the effects of the pandemic and its new owners wanted to remodel the building into a chic, modern beachside café. The brief was to open up the front and rear aspect of the building to allow al fresco dining and make the most of the impressive views across Cardigan Bay. Full height, Stellar aluminium bifold doors in anthracite grey were the perfect choice and with their slim, flush sightlines were able to create the dramatic transformation the café owners required.” As the Stellar doors are situated in a coastal location, the finish of the doors was important. Tristan said: “Stellar is manufactured with marine grade powder coating as standard and comes with a 25-year guarantee against peeling, powdering and blistering, which allowed us to manufacture and fit with confidence. And as the bifold doors are part of the Stellar portfolio, every component has been subjected to rigorous testing to ensure the products can withstand the harshest of elements and comply with all building regulations.” Thanks to the quick-fitting properties of Stellar, the project was completed on schedule and the new café was able to open in April to capitalise on the start of the busy tourist season. Tristan said: “Replacing the original front and rear elevations with a floor to ceiling Stellar bifold door has transformed the premises. This project has proven a great success and is more than living up to the expectations of the café owners.” Experienced Stellar fabricator GD Windows has over 30 years’ experience of window and door manufacture and installation. Based in the county of Ceredigion in West Wales, the fabricator works across all the local counties including Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire delivering high-end residential and commercial projects. The company was an early adopter of the multi-award-winning Stellar aluminium system, a decision that has more than exceeded their expectations. Tristan concluded: “Stellar is an exceptional aluminium system that has allowed us to secure several lucrative domestic and light commercial contracts. Its slim flush aesthetics, impressive performance credentials and ease of installation are a gamechanger in aluminium system design and give our business a competitive edge in an ever-tightening market.” Tel: 0845 300 9356 – www.stellaraluminium.co.uk

PINK DOOR DONATIONS EXCEED £3000
When leading composite door supplier DoorCo created The Pink Range, they pledged a proportion of sales would be donated to We Mind & Kelly Matters, the industry charity they champion. Just ahead of MD Dan Sullivan’s participation in the charity’s The Loneliest Road challenge, DoorCo is delighted to announce that donations from sales of pink doors have reached £3124.50.
Dan Sullivan, DoorCo MD comments: “We Mind & Kelly Matters is a charity close to our hearts at DoorCo. We had a close working relationship with Kelly Hewitt, who sadly took her own life in 2018 at just 24 years old. When we heard her father John Hewitt, The Glazerite Group Chairman, set up a charity in her name to help raise awareness of mental health and prevent suicide, we promised to do anything we could do support them. “In 2020, to support growing trend of pink doors, inspired by home improvement influencer Mrs Hinch, DoorCo created an exclusive collection of four pink doors, with four new shades of pink, coordinating pink glass designs and the stunning Rose Gold Sweet hardware from Brisant. Pink was Kelly’s favourite colour so we dedicated the collection to her, pledging to donate 20% of all door blank sales to We Mind & Kelly Matters to support the cause. We are absolutely delighted that donations have exceeded £3000, especially just before I am about to embark on the USA leg of the charity’s The Loneliest Road challenge.” In support of Dan’s campaign to help raise awareness on breaking the stigma around mental health and prevent suicide, DoorCo has teamed up with RegaLead Ltd, Kubu Smart Security and Brisant Secure to create a special edition Bright Pink Lytham door depicting the cyclists. Dan continues: “When We Mind & Kelly Matters announced the cycling challenge, it was something I wanted to get involved with. Sporting events aren’t really my thing, but I love a challenge, and with 3,343 miles and climbing 145,427ft cycling from New York to San Francisco in just 17 days, this is certainly a big one! Training is well underway as the start is just weeks away. I am exceeding 100 miles a week in training, combing some hill climbing with flat fast miles. I am really looking forward to the challenge now. “I am also determined to reach the £15,000 fundraising challenge I have set myself. The work Mind & Kelly Matters does is so important in trying to break the stigma around mental health and prevent suicide.
