CNC RECYCLING TO SUPPORT BUILDING OUR SKILLS
Building Our SkillsMaking Fenestration, Glass and Glazing a Career of Choice can now count CNC Recycling as one of its supporters. The nationwide PVCu window recycling specialist is set to participate in two of the campaign’s programmes and help to publicise its work with customers in order to help attract new recruits into the fenestration industry.
In addition to boosting the profile of BOS in its communications with customers and on its website, CNC Recycling has committed to Building Our Skills’ ‘Inspiring the Future’ campaign and new ‘Inspiration Days’ programme. The Inspiring the Future Campaign asks employers to go into schools and talk to young learners about the possibilities for their future careers and what they could achieve. It is intended to make both them and teachers more aware of the broad range of career paths on offer in the fenestration industry.
The Inspiration Days initiative is designed to open up industry factories and facilities for school visits. The programme has been devised in order to enable young people to see first-hand what goes on inside businesses. It gives them the opportunity to talk to employees and see what job roles are on offer. The process can inspire them at a time when they are working out which career path to choose.
Commenting on the company’s collaboration with Building Our Skills, Sales & Purchasing Director, Ian Ward, said: “We fully support Building our Skills’ aims of attracting new recruits in order to help address the industry’s skills shortage. It is important that we raise awareness of the opportunities within the fenestration industry, and make young learners of school age part of this initiative when they are looking to make a career choice. I’m very happy to be involved and working with Building Our Skills. I will give them our fullest support and would ask that other employers get involved too. I’m sure they’ll be very glad they have.”
Mark Handley, Building Our Skills’ Partnerships Manager added: “It’s great to have CNC Recycling’s support. We’re spreading the word not just with fabricators and installers but with all the other companies that form the fenestration landscape. CNC Recycling will help to underline the huge variety of roles available in this industry. For the vast majority of youngsters, they’re unaware of what’s on offer. So many people think that this industry is only about selling windows! The reality is there are over 50 career paths available.”

Long service is a common theme at Hurst: over 50% of its workforce have been with the business for over ten years, over 20% for more than twenty years, and this loyalty, dedication and expertise is a key ingredient in the company’s success.
