Sash Windows From Epwin Window Systems Completes A Period Farmhouse Renovation

Harewood Estate farmhouse in Chapel Wold in Kearby, Yorkshire has been sympathetically restored and converted into a luxurious family home by a local developer, Andas Homes. When it came to the vertical sliding windows for the project, there was only one choice: the Vertical Sliding Sash Window System from Epwin Window Systems fabricated by leading awardwinning Yorkshire manufacturer Quickslide.

Andas Homes has worked with Quickslide on several premium, heritage projects for a number of years, so the company was the obvious choice for this project too. The aesthetically authentic, yet highly efficient Vertical Sliding Sash Window System from Epwin Window Systems brought the heritage and luxury that such a prestigious project required, while Quickslide’s expertise and experience brought even more value.

Andas Homes’ designer Holly Simpson said. “Chapel Wold is a luxury, sensitive renovation, which draws out the character of the existing buildings and breathes new life into their timeless traits. We love the quality and performance of Quickslide’s sliding sash windows, in particular the run through sash horns which make the frame so authentic.”

Andas Homes opted for a bespoke colour frame for the project. Quickslide worked with colour coating specialists Kolorseal, to achieve the required hue, which was a specific shade of light grey that would complement the pinky tones of the property’s traditional Yorkshire stone walls and slate roof. Kolorseal’s expertise ensured outstanding colour quality and accuracy on every frame.

Ben Weber, Quickslide’s Managing Director, said: “This luxury development at Chapel Wold is just the latest example of how our sash windows are transforming home design. Glazing elements are now so much more than just building products. They add value and personality to the very fabric of home building and are an integral and crucial consideration in the internal and external design of a home.”

Katrina Earl, Sales Director at Epwin Window Systems, concluded: “Our Vertical Sliding Sash Window System is renowned in the industry for its ability to combine outstanding heritage aesthetics with modernday thermal efficiency and security. This project epitomises the quality of our system combined with the manufacturing expertise of the Quickslide team to transform this stunning property.”

Bring Steel Windows And Doors Into The Kitchen

Open plan kitchens are hugely popular as they allow more natural light into the space. However, there’s a lot to be said for separate spaces, so the development of broken plan kitchens arrived. Steel windows incorporate the best of both worlds with internal partitions to break up the space, as well as external windows that maximise the area for light to enter the kitchen.

When a historic mansion was redeveloped in North Yorkshire, the Vertical Sliding Sash Window System from Epwin Window Systems fabricated and installed by leading Yorkshire manufacturer Quickslide was the preferred choice of the developer, Brebur Ltd.

Featherstone Hall is an imposing mansion, recorded in the Domesday Book, which sits in the village of North Featherstone near Pontefract in Yorkshire. The hall and its surrounding lands have become the site for 15 beautiful period family homes. The hall itself has been converted into three homes, while the sympathetically restored coach house has been transformed into a charming detached threebedroom home. Eleven new family homes, each designed to complement the hall, have been built in the grounds.

Featherstone Hall is a famed local landmark, so the conversion needed to be sympathetic and in keeping with its history. When it came to the window contractor for the project, Brebur chose specialist fabricator Quickslide, which manufactures the Vertical Sliding Sash Window System from Epwin Window Systems.

Brebur felt the system offered the best quality within the right price range when compared to similar products on the market, while Quickslide’s easy and helpful buying process was a credit to the company. Award-winning Quickslide, manufactured 245 vertical sliding windows for the project, which were installed over a period of two years. All the windows were manufactured in anthracite grey to bring a touch of modern style to the heritage project. As well as benefiting from the mix of heritage and modern aesthetics, the homes also enjoy the unrivalled security and thermal efficiency of Epwin Window Systems’ market-leading vertical slider. The Brebur team commented on the robust nature of the windows and their style and quality when installed.

Ben Weber, Quickslide’s Managing Director, commented: “A project like Featherstone Hall showcases all the authentic quality of the Vertical Sliding Sash Window System from Epwin Window Systems coupled with the elements we excel at. Quality, contemporary windows that bring all the benefits of modern PVC-U to the traditional, beautifully aesthetic window designs of the past.”

External steel windows can be amalgamated into kitchen extensions as a replacement for exterior walls. This is a perfect way to bring light into the home and create the illusion of a larger room, blending the indoors with the outside. Steel windows come in a range of sizes allowing for the option of large glass panes spanning across the space of an external wall which will not obstruct the view of the garden. To convert existing open plan areas to the new trend of broken plan kitchen design, and create separate spaces, the same W20 steel profiles can be used as internal partitions bringing through the external design aesthetics to the internal space. This can be a small partition to separate an open pantry or utility room from the rest of the kitchen, or a large partition can take the place of an interior non-weight bearing wall. It’s the perfect solution to stylishly bring a broken plan scheme into the kitchen.

Steel partitions complement various interior schemes from midcentury modern designs to Scandi-styles with black steel windows reflecting a striking contrast to pale kitchen cabinetry.

Not only are steel windows incredibly stylish, the strong W20 steel sections allow for double glazed windows with thermally efficient units so kitchens can stay beautiful and warm.
