new life into old BREATHING

The Old Post Office

Situated in one of England’s most picturesque villages, this characterful Grade II listed former Post Office needed a major renovation. Working with listed buildings is far from a straightforward process; Historic England who govern all listed properties of historic interest around England are very particular about the approach of those seeking to breathe new life into old buildings.

The new owners of the Old Post Office needed wooden windows and doors that would satisfy Historic England, but at the same time offer modern performance and complement the modern yet classic interior the family hoped to achieve from their new home.

With detail and styling a key consideration, the Bereco Heritage Range with lambs tongue beading and putty line mouldings were chosen as a perfect match for the property.

Their Flush Casement windows were teamed with Flush French Doors and Classic Entrance Doors to complete this historic renovation. The windows and doors all feature 14mm SlimLine glazing units with slender 8mm internal spacer bars, perfect for imitating the aesthetic of traditional single glazing whilst keeping the home snug and warm reducing the families’ heating bills.

The attention to detail didn’t stop there, the beautiful Heritage timber casement windows were accessorized with 25mm horizontal lambs tongue bars, decorative butt hinges and traditional Monkey Tail handles in an antique black finish and came factory finished in an environmentally friendly water-based paint matched to Farrow & Ball Hardwick White.

To top it all off, all Bereco’s products are made from FSC®100% timber, so you know that they are sustainably sourced, and come with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty for your peace of mind.
