Sport Maleny Bowls Club
Contributed by Ian Hansen Tuesday morning: six Pairs Teams contested the Jackpot Pairs. The winners with two wins +16 were Margaret Ginns and John Kapetanic. However, the big winners were Lorraine Kistland and Curley Petersen whose score was drawn from the barrel for the Jackpot of $137 to be shared. Good to see an improvement in the number of players. Wednesday evening: 16 Triples Teams contested the Twilight Challenge and the winning teams were Mobile Kingdom, Handles, Ben Bryce, Krackerjacks, Mavericks, Mighty 10, Bridge Club and Wot Nots. The Lucky Draw winners were: Lead - Steve Porter, Second - Laurie Fawns and Skip - Jackie Montgomery. The Touchers went to Beth Glover, Ray Spry and Pam Nott and Jimmy Davidson was the lucky Money Board winner. Friday afternoon: four Rinks of Scroungers were played and the winners were: Ray Pantlin, Ian Chatterton, David Austin and Curley Petersen. Two Sponsors’ Prize winners were present to claim their winnings in Relma Godfrey who won the Brouhaha Prize and Peter Duffy who won the Maleny Dairies’ Prize. Jim King was the lucky Money Board winner. This week there was Jackpot Pairs/Triples Tuesday morning at 8.30 for a 9.00am start, the Twilight Challenge Wednesday evening and St. Patrick’s Day Scroungers Friday afternoon. Don’t forget to wear something ‘green’ for this and I believe the leprechaun has departed the Emerald Isle for his long journey to Maleny. A couple of reminders to finish. First, nominations for Club Championships are now required as is the one-off Nomination Fee of $25. Both are required by this Friday. Secondly, Friday Night Bowls will commence on March 24 at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start.
