Maleny Bowls Contributed by Miles Allen Our Wednesday night Twilight Bowls competition has seen three teams creep to the top of the table. The Amigos, Three Flamingos and RPT have all gained maximum points from the five games but there’s plenty of time left with eight more games to play. Mo and her Marauders, Pegasus, the Golfers and the Wot Notts are not far behind. And nothing is certain until the last bowl is bowled. At the Scroungers monthly competition two weeks ago, this was definitely the case. Brett Gillis had a good chance of winning but Ben Fawns delivered a wonderful last bowl to pick up two points and win the competition by a whisker. John Williams was the gallant bronze medallist. In last week Scroungers winners were Don Ginns, Mick Bulger, Marilyn Podmore, John Williams and Marg Ginns. The handicapper has adjusted their points accordingly. We sent a team to Kilcoy to play in their monthly fours’ competition where the Maleny team of Graeme Glover, John
sport Williams, Jim Wiedman and Miles Allen came first and so came home richer and happy. Our volunteers at the club have once again generously and regularly put in their time and effort to do a myriad of jobs to ensure the club is ready for bowlers and all-comers. The green is rolled and smoothed (Dave Edwards); the food is cooked and served to perfection (Tony Yorkson, Steve Porter, Ben Fawns, Judith Lees, Trish Edwards and Liz Williams); and the bar is stocked and drinks are served (John Williams, Bryan Fripp, Dave Coffey, Judith Lees, Ray Elmore). Secretary Jim Wiedman has played a critical role in overseeing all the administration and licensing requirements and has ensured we have met every COVID requirement during the last 12 months. And behind all this work and our volunteers has been Graeme Glover – coordinating, liaising, encouraging and ensuring that everything that needs to be done is done, and all goes as smoothly as possible. We hope to see you at our club soon.

AGM – GLASSHOUSE MOUNTAINS COMMUNITY HALL In 2016, the Hall celebrated its centenary of service to the local community. As most would be aware, the Hall is a central part of the community, but in more recent times, involvement by locals in managing the Hall has been waning. We would like to extend an invitation to attend our up-and-coming Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on Sunday February 28, 2021 at 4pm at the Hall on Coonorwin Road, Glass House Mountains. We need some younger mature people to join our committee. It requires a bit of volunteer work around the Hall and attendance at our monthly meetings on the fourth Sunday of each month at 4pm. Cleo came to us after her owners had to move away. She is a really lovely natured girl who will soak up any attention given to her, but is not overly needy or demanding either. Cleo loves to sit by your side, but is not so keen on being picked up, she would be best suited to a retirement home where she can laze about sleeping in the light of the afternoon sun. Cleo is up to date with all her vet work and is looking for her forever home now.

Marvin is a shy little guy who needs an experienced dog owner to help boost his confidence. He has a very sweet personality and he’d love to learn his basic obedience; he loves slow introductions with other dogs. Being a puppy, Marvin will still do all those naughty things such as chew, dig and destroy until he’s a little older. Marvin would do best in homes where his owner is home more often enough to start with so they can work with him every day. Like any dog, Marvin will need secure fencing to ensure he is kept safe at home. With all his vet work completed, Marvin is ready to go today.
