On Track for Nationals Contributed by Cameron Taylor Fighters from San Taekwondo Beerwah and Maleny competed in the Brisbane Open Taekwondo Championships last weekend with great results. The team of four fighters – Aaron Lerch, Cameron Taylor, Leo Michael and Michayla Neale finished with five gold medals and one bronze. Aaron and Michayla each contested two divisions and won gold in both. Aaron’s two fights finished in exciting sudden death overtime. After their success earlier in the year at the state titles, San Taekwondo will send five athletes to compete at the national titles, being held in December in Adelaide. Coach Norm Taylor said that he is confident that his athletes will be very competitive at the event and he hopes to build on the success of last year when they finished with a gold and a silver.
