Family fun day with the Twinnies Have you wanted to take a look at the Twinnies Pelican and Seabird Rescue centre? Well, now you can find out why the Bondi Vet – Dr Chris Brown – thought it was such a fantastic place run by some of the most dedicated wildlife carers in the country. The centre relies on community and volunteer support to keep providing the specialised seabird care and rehabilitation for which the Powers twins – Bridgette and Paula – have become internationally recognised for. Come along to their Family day, 10am til midafternoon on this Saturday (May 4) being held at the centre on Steve Irwin Way, just the other side of Landsborough towards Caloundra. There’ll be face painting, sausage sizzle, lucky dips, and more. Special guest Jake Philpott, who has been shortlisted for one of ‘The Best Jobs in the World’ will be there, as well the Twinnies themselves. You can also say hello to their jellybean eating pet pig, and meet all the wonderful birds they are caring for at the centre.
