The stars of the show, Bluey and younger sister Bingo, are both girls. The sentence should have said “Bluey and her mates”.

IT won’t come as too much of a surprise to locals that Visit Sunshine Coast’s best Instagram post for 2021 was a stunning photo of a pineapple plantation in the Glass House Mountains.

The photo, shared by the team at Pure Gold Pineapples, showed the sun setting on another day at the farm – a sea of golden pineapples lit up underneath a tangerine sky.

The photo received more than 12,800 likes and sparked a frenzy of comments from travellers who didn’t realise pineapples grow on plants like a fl ower, not trees.

The photo was in good company, with other spectacular images of the Sunshine Coast’s iconic beaches, adorable wildlife and lush hinterland making up the top ten, which was based on highest user engagement.

Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Matt Stoeckel said the top social posts of 2021 were a great refl ection of what the Sunshine Coast had to off er as a destination.

“If a photo tells 1,000 words, this stunning collection of images paints a true story of what makes the Sunshine Coast so appealing for visitors,” Matt said.

“I was really excited to see that Pure Gold Pineapples took out the top spot, with another pineapple image coming in at number three.

“Pineapples have long been a symbol of the Sunshine Coast. In fact, our very own Aussie icon the Big Pineapple celebrated its 50th birthday this year.

“It’s an extremely fi tting and sweet way to wrap up 2021.”

The top photo was taken at Morgan’s Pines in the Glass House Mountains, a family-run farm that grows half a million pineapples each year.
