With Clean Up Australia Day almost here again, it is time to remind locals who don’t mind a bit of dirty work that there are a number of local groups that would love you to head to their sites and lend a hand on Sunday March 4. For over a decade the Maleny Lions have been holding a Clean Up Australia Day event on the road leading into Maleny, and this year they will be back out once again.
This year’s coordinator, Winston Johnstone, said that over the years they have definitely reduced the amount of rubbish left in the area, however there is still littering that needs to be cleaned up, such as food wrappers, drink bottles, takeaway coffee cups, chip packets and the like. The group will meet at Obi Lane South, Maleny and will be there from 8am to 10am. They just ask if you could make sure you sign on as a volunteer before you get started.

Hi Everyone... Well it seems like the heat has backed off a bit, which hopefully will make it less of a deterrent to getting people out and about for Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday March 4. The event is now in its 28th year, which makes you wonder, what is wrong with people? How can there still be people in our community who still haven’t got the ‘Do the Right Thing’ message? Well, okay, if you were born after the 1980s you may not remember the television advertising and jingle. But really, how can anyone think that littering of any kind is okay? Even little Kindy kids these days know about putting rubbish in the bins, and most of them probably know more about what can be recycled than their parents, so let’s just hope they carry those lessons with them through life? So until then, Clean Up Australia Day will no doubt continue, and the message to those with a social conscience is, please head to a local clean-up site and help protect our local environment. See story page 5 for local locations.

The historic Landsborough School of Arts Memorial Hall has been serving the Landsborough community since 1927 and is currently used every day. This iconic building has seen numerous celebrations, events and community services under its roof and now new committee members are urgently needed to continue the wonderful legacy of this community meeting place which embodies the spirit of the town. Landsborough is seeing an exciting new resurgence of energy and the hall provides a well-established central meeting place for the community – with so much potential, ‘fresh eyes and fresh ideas’ are most welcome. Currently the committee manages hall bookings and maintenance, raises funds towards hall expenses and seeks grants. Members have also assisted in fundraising by organising other events for charity and support Glasshouse Mountains RSL on Anzac Day hosting the dawn service, Gunfire breakfast, morning service and morning tea.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 7pm, and the hall holds workings bees two or three times a year. New members are always welcome and currently fees are set at just $10 per annum. Membership fees are due and payable at the upcoming AGM. If people wish to take part as members then payment of their membership fee should be made before the meeting starts. The Hall Association will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Thursday March 1, at 7pm and this would be a great opportunity to head along and show support. All executive committee positions will be declared vacant as well as positions for a market coordinator, booking officer and publicity officer. If you can spare a little time each month or have skills that could benefit this community association, why not get excited and get involved? For more details call 5439 9399. The hall is located at 4 Old Landsborough Road, Landsborough.
History returns home A piece of Beerburrum State School history has found its way back after more than 40 years. This desk, which was replaced by a newer version in the mid
1970s, was donated to the school recently. Guests at the school’s centenary on April 22 this year will be able to sit at desks in the old school classroom display and practice writing on slates used in bygone eras. If you have a piece of our history, or know someone who might, please get in contact with the school on 5439 5222.

Stop it becoming rubbish You might be surprised to know that Clean Up Australia has been going for 28 years and the tally for volunteer hours is been estimated at 32 million hours. We still need to put the word out to head along to your local Clean Up Australia sites on Sunday March 4. With eight million tonnes of plastic choking our oceans each year why not get your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues together to take action to protect their local environment to remove rubbish before it damages our precious parks, bushland, waterways and oceans. There are plenty of locations where regular events have been held in Glasshouse Country and Maleny for many years, and those involved would appreciate some new volunteers coming along and lending a hand. Skate park rubbish
Last Tuesday afternoon I turned up for my Aqua Aerobics class at the Beerwah Pool when I noticed a lot of rubbish on the ground around the skate park. I ended up collecting a very full bag of rubbish (see picture) before my class. This is absolutely unacceptable behaviour especially when there are bins provided very close by, it equates to sheer laziness and a lack of respect for the planet that provides these children with everything they need and want. They are throwing away their future and polluting our town. I try to collect roadside rubbish every week and every week I am appalled at how much there is. It makes me so angry that some people are so selfish and narrow minded to think it is okay to throw their trash out the window. I find all sorts of stuff but mostly drink containers. If you are a parent can you please, please remind/teach your children to put their rubbish in the bins provided. Rubbish is a devastating problem for the planet and we need to educate and encourage everyone to do the right thing before we all end up drowning in trash. Lise Blackgrove Beerwah

Time to hang the orange overalls up By Lea Parkes After nearly three decades of shared experiences with the Glass House Mountains SES, Graeme Cheal, 73, Ross Lowe, 71, and young fella Robert Barry, 65, recently felt that the time was right to hand in their bright orange overalls and officially end their time as SES volunteers. Spending a couple of hours with the blokes recently, they shared plenty of stories, many about mountain rescues, some about assisting police with searches, rescuing vehicles from being bogged (in the days before the area had tow trucks operating), undertaking traffic control, and even having to drive the ambulance! Before Beerwah had a staffed Ambulance Station, the ambulances that came to rescue scenes only had one ambulance officer with them, so if the person that had been rescued needed medical assistance they were put into the back of the ambulance with the ‘Ambo’ and an SES officer would drive the ambulance! Originally when the group was set up in 1980 they met in an old tobacco shed on a farm belonging to the Group Controller in Railway Parade at Glass House Mountains. However, these days they have their own purpose-built facility in Beerwah across the road from the Fire Station and Ambulance.

Robert explained that things were much more informally done in the early days, with not nearly as much training and procedures as the volunteers are required to do now. “We might not have been able to pass a written exam, however we grew up as bush kids, we had plenty of common sense, we knew how to assess a situation, and work out the practical approach to solving it. Verge gardens back on the agenda It appears that verge gardens are back on the agenda for the Sunshine Coast Council. Following on from the public relations disaster in May last year, when Council destroyed sections of the Urban Food Street productive community gardens on nature strips in Buderim, an item has appeared on the agenda for this Thursday’s Council meeting at Nambour. The report recommends that local laws be amended to allow for the road verge gardens as well as presenting a policy framework within which the approach will operate. The policy deals with both garden beds and hedges planted against the property boundary. In a nutshell, the verge planting will either be one requiring a permit or one not requiring a permit, with self-assessment determining what approach is needed. For no permit to be needed – and consequently no public liability insurance either – the plants used must be kept below half a metre in height or 1.5m if a boundary hedge. There is also an allowable species list. It appears an edible hedge will not be allowed, as no fruiting species are listed as acceptable to be grown. This is a drastic reversal of Council’s previous position which, back in May, saw the Buderim residents forced to apply for a permit and pay for public liability insurance if they wanted to grow herbs on their front verge. Other requirements needing to be met are that minimum distances must be kept between the

gardens and the road edge, pathways, and power poles and other utility infrastructure. No planting is allowed to impact sightlines, be within drainage areas and must maintain at least 1.8m for pedestrians if there is no formalised path. The gardens are not to contain any solid structures or materials (such as edging or stakes), no wires, no loose materials such as pebbles, stones or paving, no irrigation systems, no artificial turf and use only biodegradable materials (so no black plastic or geo-fabric). Anything outside the acceptable Council guidelines will require a permit, which is free to apply for, and a public liability insurance coverage of a minimum $2million. Fruiting trees are to be considered as ‘street trees’ and so come under Council’s street tree program, which has a whole different policy and approvals process.

Community News Double dose of 80th birthday celebrations Stephen Rose of Glasshouse Mountains, having had an 80th birthday cake at the Glasshouse Mountains RSL, continued celebrating the milestone with Una Robinson by visiting his niece in Samoa. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting a new school where the students performed a song for them and Steve and Una were able to donate some items to support Grades 1 and 2 students. Steve enjoyed the opportunity to eat the fresh tropical fruit straight from the local gardens, including avocado, bananas, paw paw, cocoa beans, lemons, pineapples, breadfruits and Vi. Una explained that while they didn’t know an English name for the fruit, Vi could be described as a mix of pear and banana with a crisp flesh, which was lovely to eat. They also really enjoyed visiting the Robert Louis Stephenson Museum, which was the author’s former home called ‘Vailima’ where he lived for
Steve (right) with his niece Sene at the waterfalls five years before he died in 1894. Una said it was interesting to note that the local beer has adopted ‘Vailima’ as its name. However, Mother Nature ensured that the trip wasn’t all smooth sailing, with the wild winds and rains of Cyclone Gita delaying their flights home.

Annual Maleny Motorcycle Swap Meet
The Sunshine Coast branch of the Historical Motorcycle Club of Queensland will hold their annual Motorcycle Swap Meet at the Maleny Show Grounds on Saturday March 10. This year will mark the 25th consecutive year of the event. The club has well over 1000 members, with approximately 140 enthusiasts residing here on the Sunshine Coast. A club motorcycle must be at least 30 years old and local members have bikes ranging back to 1912 and everything in between. Gates will open at 6am on Saturday for sellers/vendors and then at 7am for buyers and the general public – with trading all day until 6pm. The Swap will also have a food court with a wide range of tasty food available on the day. As usual the event will be a major fundraiser for The Maleny Lions Club who will be the main food provider. Items for sale are restricted to ‘motorcycle related’ but this provides a very wide cross section from which to choose. Come along to find complete motorcycles, engines, gearboxes, frames, tyres, parts, accessories, riding clothes, books, photographs and paintings. As well, there are trade and club displays and the club tent will be there so make sure you drop by. Anyone is welcome to come along on the day. Swap site to sell items, or if you want to buy something or just look, will cost $5. Camping on Friday and Saturday nights is available at $5 per person per night. For more information, call Allan on 0427 573 002.

Along with its welcoming aged care, Glasshouse Views, located in Beerwah, also offers Memory Support to locals living with dementia. Kim Hunt, General Manager Client Relations for McKenzie, recently told GC&M News that at the beautiful Glasshouse Views, their Memory Support is about Person Centered Care. “This means we take care of everything from your loved one’s perspective,” Kim said. Glasshouse Views’ Memory Support accommodates all needs from residents living with dementia, who are still quite capable and can visit other areas of the community to participate in social activities, to those who are easily confused or may wander. Their living environment is designed to be safe as well as being comfortably consistent, to ensure these surrounds very quickly become familiar. “All support that McKenzie provides respectfully acknowledges that the person in their care is an individual. “We encourage interests, monitor behaviour and advise the family of any changes,” Kim said. “Then, should communicating ever become a challenge, we will be better able to know what your loved one is thinking, feeling or even wanting, then respond accordingly. “At McKenzie we pride ourselves on our kind, patient and very skilled nursing and care staff, who are trained to support those with high needs. “As a family themselves, McKenzie are here to make sure that everyone can have the very best care with a range of affordable options.” To discuss aged care, respite or Memory Support at Glasshouse Views, call 1300 899 222 or visit mckenzieacg.com.

Dusk on the Deck celebrates women of achievement Members of the Zonta Club of Blackall Range are again preparing for their annual International Women’s Day event, from 5.30 to 7pm on March 8, when they will the announce the 2018 recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award. Chairman of the committee, Ann Koenig, was delighted with the applications received. “We found it quite a challenge to choose our winner, but we know the woman we have chosen will be a worthy recipient,” Ann said. “We have had two very significant winners of this award. The first in 2016 was Pamela Marsden and 2017’s recipient, Dianne Wilson, had been a foster parent for more than 100 children over the years. “We don’t release the name of our winner until the Dusk on the Deck function, so it becomes an exciting event. Invitations have been sent out, but the event is open to anyone who might be interested in the work that Zonta does and would like to find out more about it. “In our work for the advancement of the status of women and our support for women in need throughout the world Zonta International clubs look to their communities for help and this is also a way of paying back that debt.” Dusk on the Deck is a free event with complementary light refreshments, and a bar available for those who would like a drink. If you would like to attend you should ring Ann Koenig on 0407 138 182 by March 1. Ann said the club is able to do this because of the generosity of sponsors. “We are very grateful for the help we are given towards making this a special event. This year our sponsors are Lember and Williams Lawyers,
Montville Real Estate, Maleny Physiotherapy and Judi Coey Optometrist. All these professional businesses are owned and/or managed by women and that is special, as Zontians are Previous recipients Dianne Wilson and Pam Marsden business and professional women themselves who work to improve the status of women by support, education and reward. “We are also given enormous support by our local media especially the Glasshouse Country and Maleny News and the Hinterland Times, for which we are very grateful, and the proprietors will be our special guests also.” The Woman of Achievement Award is always a certificate and a live yellow rose in a pot with a commemorative plaque. Zonta clubs throughout the world celebrate International Women’s Day as Rose Day, as the yellow Zonta rose had been chosen as a symbol of peace and friendship internationally. “We will also have a live yellow rose to raffle (drawn on the night), and our Zonta rose cards for sale,” Ann said. “We are excited that a wellknown artist, Howard Steer of Broken Hill, has donated one of his amazing paintings to us. We will introduce this major raffle at Dusk on the Deck and the proceeds will go to our scholarship fund for a female university student.”

Still the original and the best! Barbers of Maleny have been providing specialist men’s barber services and precision hair cutting for the whole family for over 13 years. Following on from many years of being located on Maple Street, in July last year the business, owned and operated by Shandelle TerryRandall, relocated to the Riverside Centre. “We moved to offer our clients a more spacious layout with more convenient parking options. We now have wheelchair access, heaps more room and are in a lovely location overlooking the Obi Obi Creek,” says Shandelle. The relocation has also meant that Shandelle has been able to expand her vision for the ‘ultimate man cave’ vibe and install a licenced bar on the premises serving local beer and wine. Clients can enjoy a complimentary drink on arrival and Shandelle is really excited about future plans to incorporate local brewery beer and wine tasting events and has also been speaking with some talented local musicians to look at offering live local sounds to further enhance the inviting atmosphere. Shandelle is a highly qualified professional with 30 years’ hairdressing experience. She is thrilled to introduce two new staff members, Dominique and Michelle to the team who also share years of expertise. Dominique is a Brisbane trained qualified barber who has ten years’ experience. She keeps up to date with the latest looks and fashions for men and is highly experienced in the art of cut throat razor shaves.
This type of precision shaving is also becoming increasingly popular as a ‘buck's party’ option. Michelle is also a highly skilled hairdresser with 30 years’ experience, and has worked extensively in hairdressing and barber shops. With her experience she offers clients really great haircuts. “Although we specialise in barber shop services we also find a lot of ladies drop in just wanting a good no frills haircut. We get a lot of mums bringing their kids in and we welcome the whole family to come in for a great friendly and professional haircut,” says Shandelle. Over the years, Shandelle has built up a loyal client base and she is deeply appreciative that her clients continue to return. She feels people enjoy the relaxed local feel of the place and that people can feel at home and enjoy a good conversation. Along with a complimentary drink, clients can also enjoy the complementary massage chair while they wait; and for many the fact that no appointment is necessary … just drop in and take a seat … is a huge drawcard! To show her appreciation to her many loyal customers, Shandelle is planning a special client event on Saturday March 17 from 12pm until 3pm with complimentary drinks, nibbles and a chance to meet the new team members. Plans are also underway to launch a series of monthly ‘facebook’ promotions where clients who share the business posts will go into a monthly draw to win some cool ‘barbershop’ inspired prizes.
New team members Dominique and Michelle with Shandelle
Why not drop in, soak up the uniquely masculine traditional / retro décor, sit in the 100-year-old antique barber’s chair, enjoy a cold beer and hot / cold towel and get yourself looking sharp and sleek. For more details and promotion updates visit the ‘Barbers of Maleny’ facebook page or drop in to 3/4 Maple St, or call 5429 6335 or 0435 064 525.

Glasshouse Mountains Advanced Network Life after the microburst I had never heard of ‘microbursts’ before the evening of December 9, when this weather phenomenon presented itself in all its ferocious glory. It lasted less than half an hour, but left behind as much destruction as a small tornado. A ‘microburst’ is a localised intense downdraft within a thunderstorm. Winds can exceed 150 km per hour, hitting the ground with the force of a runaway freight train, and spread out in a radial fashion. In the affected area, smaller than five square kilometres, large oldgrowth trees were snapped like twigs or uprooted. When one of these monsters fell, dozens of smaller trees went with them. As we chip away at the clean-up, we are witnessing the capacity of the forest to recuperate. Tiny seedlings, mostly of pioneer species that are intolerant of shade, are already capitalising on the extra sunshine from the reduced canopy. Small trees bent into insane arches when larger trees fell, spring back up as we cut them free. Many eucalypts are sprouting new growth from their damaged and even fallen trunks. The battered bush still brims with wildlife, despite the loss of many food and habitat trees. Smaller birds are noticeably absent as many of their favourite tangles of thick foliage and vines are now beneath enormous fallen eucalypts. Whip birds and water dragons, and our chooks, love the new layers of mulch full of insects. Like many locals, we face months of clearing and replanting. However, like the natural flora and fauna, we will just have to adapt. Do you have an hour or two a month to spare? Would you like to learn more about the flora and fauna in your area, and meet new friends? For information on GMAN Nursery sales please call Gwen: 07 5493 0029 or Yvonne: 5438 7118 or visit www.gman-inc.com.au
Maleny artist launches debut picture book
Local author and artist Barbara Nye will be launching her very first picture book, ‘Somewhere a Bell Is Ringing’ at Rosetta Books on Saturday March 3 at 2pm. Barbara’s latest work celebrates the beauty of the environment and the connections between people and communities around the world. This beautifully illustrated work with its delightful rhyming prose, focuses on scenes of urban and rural connectiveness, all gorgeously created by piecing together hand-painted tissue paper collage to create vibrant and eyecatching imagery. Rosetta Books will co-host the book launch with Maleny Art Direct, where Barbara regularly exhibits her mixed-media artwork. Prints from the book will also be on sale at Maleny Art Direct, where visitors can view the original artwork created for ‘Somewhere a Bell Is Ringing’. Barbara loves thinking of all the places that she has visited around the world, along with the places she’s never been to, and imagining what might be happening there right now. “This book celebrates the small wonders that bind all people together despite our differences and the distance that separates us,” she said. “It’s about the ordinary moments that make up the extraordinary world we all share.” Head along to Rosetta Books and Maleny Art Direct, 30 Maple Street, Maleny from 2pm to meet the author and pick up your own copy of this lovely picture book. It is a free event and all ages are welcome to attend. For more details, contact Rosetta Books on 5435 2134 or Maleny Art Direct on 0413 885 220. Bankfoot House reaches 150 years
The former Cobb and Co lunch stop and staging post at the Glass House Mountains, Bankfoot House, will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Saturday October 14 this year. Bankfoot House was established in 1868 by William and Mary Grigor. Named after Mary’s home village in Scotland, the house operated as a horse change station and lunch stop on the road between Brisbane and the Gympie goldfields. It was the first dwelling to be built in the area and also served as the post office and as an accommodation house for travelers, as well as being home to a large family. Friends of Bankfoot House President Ron Gillinder said celebrations in October will include Cobb and Co displays, a whip-cracking demonstration, lifesize replica bullocks, timber-getting exhibitions and guided tours of the old house. There will also be photographs of the three generations of the same family who lived in Bankfoot House for over 130 years – the Grigor, Burgess and Ferris families – on display. The last resident was Jack Ferris, who died in 2002 aged 101. Family descendants subsequently sold the house to the then Caloundra City Council and it has been the focus of much heritage and archival research and activity since then. The volunteer members of the Friends of Bankfoot House are excited to be planning the sesquicentenary of Bankfoot House. Novelty competitions at the event will include best beard, best hat and best apron, and there will be traditional games from past eras such as skipping, marbles and quoits. Bankfoot House is situated at 1998 Old Gympie Road, Glass House Mountains. The 150th celebrations are being organised jointly by the Friends of Bankfoot House and the Sunshine Coast Council. For more information please email friendsofbankfoot@gmail.com or ring Ron Gillinder on 0407 760 989.

Student leaders' ceremony
Contributed by Daphne Mundy Beerwah State School recently held their annual Induction Ceremony for the 2018 Student Leaders. Leaders’ cake to celebrate Contributed by Sally Joyce Peachester State School’s new principal, Mrs Kim Fillery, presented our 2018 leaders with their badges on Monday February 11 and the school celebrated with a cake big enough to share with the whole school. (That makes for a either a big cake or a small school?) Our school captains, Eadie and Malachi celebrated a milestone having known each other since attending Peachester Playgroup and having both attended PSS from Prep to now. A small school particularly depends on senior grades to pitch in and mentor our younger students and we know that this year’s Year 6 leaders will do that well. Congratulations to our school captains, Eadie and Malachi, and our leaders, Montana and Ariel.

Things2Do How smart are you?
Why not come along and test your knowledge against some of the best minds in Maleny, at the regular trivia night at Maleny RSL on Saturday March 3? Quizmaster Ray Oldfield will kick off proceedings at 7pm, so you might want to be there a little earlier to ensure you don't miss out on any of the questions. There will be plenty of general knowledge questions, with numerous spot prizes throughout the night. Teams of six to eight people will take part and the good news is if you don't have a team, the organisers will find you one. Entry for the evening is just $5. You can bring along your own nibbles, and drinks can be purchased from the licensed bar (at club prices).
Maleny folk concert this weekend
Queensland folk singer and autoharp player Evan Mathieson is guest performer for the first Goodwills’ house concert for 2018 in Maleny at 3pm this Sunday, February 25. Evan’s baritone voice well suits his broad repertoire of folk, blues, jazz standards and sea shanties. Evan plays (and makes) his own unique ‘Aussieharp’. He augments his skills on the autoharp with guitar and blues harmonica. Evan has a wide-ranging taste in music and is best known in Queensland folk circles for recording the whaling songs of the late Harry Robertson. For more information on Evan, see www.evanmathieson.net. The Goodwills (Bob & Laurel Wilson) will play an opening set, followed by afternoon tea, and then Evan as feature artist. Tickets are $15. To book and for venue directions, please phone Laurel 5435 2333 or email her at goodwills@ozemail. com.au. Homemade afternoon tea/coffee and goodies will be available.
Sunshine Coast Jazz Club
Peter Freeman’s Para Voce Group featuring two guest artists will bring their energetic vibrancy and musical passion to the Caloundra Power Boat Club on Sunday March 4 for this Sunshine Coast Jazz Club hosted event. Presenting their own Brazilian and French standards along with some select jazz and originals to add spice to their mix, each member of the group is a master of their chosen instrument. Featuring piano accordion, double bass, guitar and percussion, the colourfully warm and energetic sound of these accomplished musicians will give audiences a musical experience to revel in. Doors open at 12.30pm for lunch followed by jazz from 2pm-4.30pm. Cost is $20 (members), $22.50 (seniors) and $25 (non-members). A credit card facility is available. To book your table to enjoy an afternoon of uplifting and invigorating jazz, phone Carlyn on 0427 782 960.
‘Lamp Light Tours’ of Bankfoot House
The Friends of Bankfoot House have come up with something a little bit different for their public openings this Sunday, February 25, and Sunday March 25. Instead of the usual daytime opening of 10am to 3pm, tours will begin at 4.30pm on these dates, with the last tour to begin at 7.30pm (this change is just for February and March). Visitors being guided through the house at night can expect a different experience compared with the daytime tours. Evening tours may observe home entertainment from times past such as cards, checkers, knitting, reading the Bible and playing the pianola. The house will be dimly lit, as it was in its pioneering past. Visitors will be offered a complementary drink at the end of their tour.
Movies The weekend at the movies
The British film ‘Another Mother's Son’ which the Maleny Film Society is showing this Saturday, February 24, at 7.15pm and Sunday, February 25, at 4pm, is set in the Channel Isles during the Nazi occupation. It depicts the true story of the heroic actions of St Ouen shopkeeper and war widow Louisa Gould who protected an escaped POW Russian slave-worker called Fydor (renamed Bill). At a time when Winston Churchill has decided that liberating the occupied islands would be too risky, tensions are heightened as residents realise that daily life for them involves continued submission to Nazi authority, brutality, secrecy and hunger. Against this backdrop, the decision of Louisa (Jenny Seagrave) to shelter an escapee from the Nazis threatens the safety of the whole community and divides loyalties. This is an explosive and compelling drama, even more so because of its authenticity: Louisa's own son was killed in the war, firming her resolve to save Fydor, who becomes her surrogate son. This true story is also an important one that doesn't accord with Churchill's oft-stated policy of never surrendering. According to one reviewer, this is "A decent, heartfelt, robustly presented drama ... where truth is sometimes stranger than fiction". Doors open on Saturday night for dinner from 6pm and open on Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm. Tickets will be available at the door for non-members and the cost is adults $13, students with ID $8, and children under 16 $5. Screening is at 7.15pm Saturday and 4pm Sunday. For more details, visit www.malenyfilmsociety.info.

Playground woes
Good luck to the folk at Maleny with getting their new playground for Cooke Park finished anytime soon. We have a big nice new one under construction down here in Glass House Mountains which has been going on now for what seems like 12 months or more. Not long ago the new bitumen carpark was laid, and then just last week I saw four blokes pointing and scratching their heads while looking at the nice fresh bitumen. Great I thought, the carpark must be nearly ready to use, but then the other day the workmen were back and the whole lot up again. Back to square one I guess. I wonder who’s paying for that? I have to say that the playground is pretty good… although it would be nice if the seats had some shade so I could sit and watch the grandkids playing without expiring from the heat. But at least we’ve got made-to-order play equipment which is adventurous for the kids… plus we’ve got a toilet block, picnic shelter and barbeque. S.A. Old Glass House Mountains
Failed predictions
Isn’t it time that people and organisations constantly predicting doom and disaster should have their failed predictions publicised so that we take any future prophesies “with a grain of salt”. Our Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) continuously forecasts record hot temperatures with much publicity but they are usually only for that month of the year and often wrong. BOM admits that 89% of its one day ahead forecasts are up to 2 degrees out and 11% are worse than that. Ex chief climate commissioner Tim Flannery predicted “so even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and river systems” and using BOM forecasts, convinced eastern state governments to build four extremely costly desalination plants for $8.3 billion near the end of the Millennium drought. Their water production is so expensive that they have been in mothballs virtually ever since the floods arrived in 2010 and cost us millions of dollars a year to maintain in working order. History has shown that timely dams built in the right place, like Baroon Pocket, are a far better drought-proofing option. On a brighter note, some failed predictions actually do have a silver lining. In a letter in GC&M News (May 3, 2017) Gerry Muller stated, “I predict we will see the spot price at $40/ton again this year (or lower), which will make the Adani mine a bad joke” for Australian thermal coal. Since then the price has increased to US$102 (AU$133)/tonne at the end of December 2017 raising our Queensland Government

RE: Factually incorrect article
It is unfortunate that incorrect information is being disseminated regarding the safety and operation of radio networks such as the NBN fixed wireless network as in the story on page 4 in GC&M News, February 7 edition. Over the last five years, many residents across the Sunshine Coast have expressed strong and positive interest in services over the NBN fixed wireless network. The NBN fixed wireless network is a radio network, and just like the more than 600 other licensed radio network facilities located on the Sunshine Coast, including AM and FM radio and TV broadcasts, mobile networks, emergency service networks, and two-way radio, it operates by sending and receiving radio signals. Other radio signals commonly found in residential areas include television, AM and FM radio broadcast signals, paging networks, mobile network signals, and many two-way radio systems supporting emergency services, council services, hospitals, roadside assistance, taxi-services, sports clubs, transit authorities, utility providers, and large commercial operations such as shopping centres. NBN's fixed wireless network, like all radio networks, is regulated to protect public health and safety, and NBN's facilities operate at radio signal strengths that are hundreds or thousands of times weaker than the signals we and other licensed radio operators are permitted to transmit 24-hours a day in any environment. The World Health Organisation (WHO) and Australian public health authorities are clear that there is no evidence that radio signals in the environment that comply with safety standards pose a risk of cancer. When it comes to the broadcast of radio signals in the environment, the scientific consensus is clear that no adverse short or long term health effects have been shown to occur. NBN already has 25 fixed wireless facilities constructed in the Sunshine Coast, and these form just a small part of the 600+ licensed radio facilities in this region. We urge all readers who want further information to seek advice from reputable public health authorities, and we hope that their advice gives communities in the Sunshine Coast greater peace of mind. Ryan Williams Head of NBN Local Queensland
You Said It A world run by robots
The anniversary of the stock market crash of 1929 that triggered the Great Depression, a time of economic hardship, hunger and deprivation is looming. There was mass unemployment in Australia and many parts of the world. An increasing number of commentators are attempting to alert the public and politicians to the fact that approaching half the jobs in existence today will be taken over by robots and automation within a decade or so. How will this affect the community? I watched with interest a recent episode of Catalyst on ABC TV where robots were being designed and programmed to do a variety of jobs on farms, it was largely fascinating but I was left feeling more than a little disturbed at the prospect that most vegetable and fruit crops would soon be harvested by these clever machines. At Sydney Uni they were actually working on a robot that could pick apples and other fruit. I used to enjoy picking fruit and during one period of my life travelled around and have worked in many parts of Australia. What will the tens of thousands of backpackers do who come annually to work in the fields and orchards? Look for other work I guess, but how many of those other potential jobs will be taken over by robots? Universities can expect to shrink too, as many courses will soon be dropped in subjects such as law and accountancy as robots take these jobs too. There is now a machine that can lay bricks so there is another job gone. I personally dislike the undemocratic nature of having some of this high technology foisted on us, but ultimately question how it will affect the community and wonder how governments are planning to manage this situation. One thing is likely; much like in the Great Depression we'll need an awful lot of soup kitchens. Jon Woodlands Cambroon

3 tips for saving while paying off a mortgage Paying off a mortgage can be a lofty task indeed. With those weekly payments coming out of your account, you may have nothing left for other financial goals such as saving for a holiday or perhaps even making extra mortgage repayments. It doesn’t have to be that way. With smart advice courtesy of Smartline’s experienced mortgage broker Teresa Harrison, your mortgage needn’t be an impossible burden, leaving little room for reaching other goals. To get you started, let’s have a quick look at three ways that you could free up some room in your finances while paying off a mortgage. Cut the luxuries MoneySmart data suggests that the average Australian spends $32 a week dining out and a further $20 on bakery products. This seems like a completely reasonable amount,
Glasshouse Country & Maleny News
yet the fact is it’s a luxury that could easily be sacrificed in the name of achieving your financial goals.
This extra cash, could go a long way towards saving for that second property, or even a couple weeks on a tropical beach in Bali.
Doing this doesn’t mean you must subsist on two-minute-noodles and meal replacement formula. Instead, just have a close look at your expenditures and see where you can cut any unnecessary costs. The money that this saves you could go towards securing an investment home loan and starting your property empire.
Refinance If you secured your mortgage a year or more ago, refinancing could potentially help to lock in a lower rate.
Rent a room out Generate extra income and gain a new house mate to hang out with, all in one fell swoop. Not only will you be slightly wealthier and gain a new companion, but you may also be able to claim part (or all) of your interest payments on your loan back as tax deductions, according to the Australian Taxation Office.
Our experienced mortgage brokers specialise in finding suitable loan products for your needs and will be there to help from the first payment to the last. Contact Teresa today for expert mortgage advice and service.
On August 2 the Reserve Bank lowered the cash rate to an all time low of 1.5 per cent. This change has led commercial banks to pass on savings to customers, resulting in record low home loan rates. If you secured your mortgage more than a year ago, refinancing could potentially help to lock in a lower rate and save you money. If you’re struggling with your mortgage or just need a word of advice Smartline is here to help. Australian Credit Licence Number 385325

Native plants as indoor plants
Are you one of those people who spend a fortune at Bunnings on the weekends, buying plants to enhance your home décor? Perhaps, like me you ‘admire’ the very ‘real looking’ fake plants seen today in offices and medical centres. How disappointing to see these taking over from natural plants which help to remove pollutants from the atmosphere and also provide much needed oxygen in closed environments. Very few of us ever think of using our wonderful native plants for this purpose. Many of our rainforest plants are suitable for large planters indoors due to the low light levels where they grow naturally. Try Black Bean Castenaspermum australe as a great tub or large pot specimen. Red fruited palm lily or Cordyline rubra also makes a good indoor plant. This plant is even lovelier if you are lucky enough to have one with clusters of red fruit. Regardless of flowering or fruit, both plants have lovely glossy leaves which will enhance any home. Like all indoor plants they respond well to a drink of water outdoors when it rains! We are all familiar with the common Maiden hair fern which is one of our local natives. Equally attractive is the Haresfoot fern which may often be found in plant nurseries. Both are great for hanging baskets. Another popular exotic species for hanging baskets is Hoya. You may not be aware that we have our very own Hoya australis growing locally. When in flower this is an extremely beautiful plant and well worth growing as a basket specimen. Our GMAN nursery has stocks of Hoya, Black Bean and Cordylines.
In the Garden Weed File Easter cassia
(Senna pendula var. glabra) It won’t be long before you’ll start to see a yellow pea flowering bush burst into colour in people’s gardens and some bushland areas. Don’t be fooled… it’s not some delightful horticultural specimen, it’s actually an insidious environmental weed. Easter cassia is a pretty yellow flowered shrub that has escaped from gardens and become an environmental weed in our bushland and National Parks. Before Easter, when the flowers are out, is the best time to hunt down and destroy plants on your property. If you have one in the garden, consider replacing it with another non-invasive plant. Ask a local nursery what they’d recommend as an alternative.
Do you have an hour or two a month to spare? Would you like to learn more about the flora and fauna in your area, and meet new friends? Visit www.gman-inc.com.au. For information on GMAN Nursery sales please call Gwen: 07 5493 0029 or Yvonne: 5438 7118.

With Spencer and Karen Shaw
A common question for this time of year is “are these plants tough; can they survive the heat?” Which is a good question, as you don’t want to invest in a plant only to see it wither in a few days. Luckily for many of the plants we stock, the answer we can give is a very definite yes! Here’s a few tips in selecting your plants and what you can do to ensure survival at planting. First up, select stock that is hardened to the conditions you’re planting into. Plants coming out of a shade house will burn when planted in the sun. Always select sun hardened stock, we grow all our stock out in sun (apart from the real shade lovers!). Next up, although soil preparation is an article in itself, let’s briefly say that through digging, mulching and watering, you need to ensure you have a friable, moist soil to plant into. A trick many forget is to always soak your plants in a container of water prior to planting to ensure the potting mix is thoroughly wetted (you can tell when air bubbles stop coming out of the potting mix). Last but not least go native, for the toughest and most beautiful plants around and that’s where we can help you.

Glass House Hall committee needs a hand The Glass House Mountains Community Hall management committee is keen to see more locals come along to their Annual General Meeting on Sunday February 25 at 4pm at the hall in Coonowrin Road, Glass House Mountains.
From the churches Years ago, I was a fulltime chaplain at RMIT University. I regularly asked incoming students why they were there. The usual answers were: to get a job, learn a trade/skill, etc. I would then refer them to the book of Acts in the Bible and the story of Priscilla and Aquila, a husband and wife team of tentmakers who travelled with the Apostle Paul setting up new Churches in Asia minor. I asked them, what do you think these two people would have answered if you asked them “what they did for a crust?” Would they have said they were tentmakers… or pointed to Paul and said, “See that guy over there? We help him plant churches as we serve the Lord Jesus.” They used their vocation as a vehicle to serve God, rather than having their vocation define who they were. I suspect that Paul would have given a similar answer. This became a paradigm shift of many

Committee Secretary April J. Anderson said at the end of 2016, the hall celebrated its centenary and the committee worked hard to create what was a very successful event. “Most of the community are aware of the Community Hall in the township of Glass House Mountains and what an important community facility it is, however we need some younger, mature people to join our committee,” April said. “For those interested in becoming involved, it just requires them to do a bit of volunteer work around the hall and to come along to our monthly meetings on the fourth Sunday of each month at 4pm. “This facility is for the public, you and I, to use and we look forward to your support in the future.”
Rev Scott Kroeger Maleny Presbyterian Church students’ thinking, who realised they were in university to learn about God… and not just a job. Vocation is a tool we use by God’s grace and mercy to provide for ourselves and families. But it shouldn’t define who we are as image bearers of the living God. Serving Jesus with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength are what Christians are about. Everything we do is to focus on the Kingdom of God. Our jobs are just tools to that end… no more, and no less. As a result of the Fall in the garden of Eden, one of the consequences was that work would now be toilsome - all the days of our lives. We can’t escape it. There is no such thing as ‘retirement’ in the Bible. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that our vocations can be meaningful and productive… not as an end in themselves… but as they permit us to further pursue living for God and being productive for the Kingdom of Christ. Think then how you can use your vocation to plant churches, be a missionary, help the poor and disadvantaged, support ministry and Gospel work in the church. GLASSHOUSE COUNTRY

Sport Throwing some heavy stuff Beerburrum Strongman Tim O'Shea travelled to New Zealand recently to compete at the 25th Paeroa Highland Games. Tim placed a credible sixth out of nine international competitors, his best result in an international Highland Games. Despite the wet field, he managed to hit some personal bests in the 16lb stone putt, 16lb Caledonian hammer and 22lb heavy hammer. Other events included weight throws for distance, sheaf toss and, of course, the caber toss. The Paeora locals were extremely welcoming to the travelling ‘Heavies’, and Tim said he can't wait to compete there in 2019! The next event for Tim is the South Pacific Highland Games in Geelong in March.
The Range Croquet Club Contributed by Ken Barker Saturday saw a large contingent of 24 people from Bundaberg Caravan club enjoying great conditions for morning tea and golf croquet. Many thanks, to our obliging members who provided food and assistance on the day. The three beginners who showed up to be coached for the Saturday session also seemed to enjoy themselves as they mastered the fine points of take-offs and making hoops. It was wonderful to see the grounds full. Frances Harper and Ken Barker played to a 7-all draw late on Tuesday afternoon with a storm hanging over their right shoulder when they were facing north on court 1. The game began about four. It was too hot to start earlier. It was hot on Thursday afternoon which discouraged many players from participating. Ken and Frances started late again, at about 4, to beat the heat. This time Ken prevailed 15-14 in a tight encounter. Club play days are Thursday and Sunday at 2 for 2.30 pm. Saturday mornings at 8am there are lessons for beginners on the courts in the showgrounds. For details contact president Vince Carbery on 5494 2193, or secretary Priscilla Vickers on 5494 3555. 32
Glasshouse Country Bowls Contributed by David Hayes Wednesday February 14: 12 teams braved the heat for Jackpot Day, unfortunately the temperature was against us so the day had to be called off. The day prizes went to the highest scores, Ann White, Vic Muscat and Joy Reason with 18. Runners up were David Hayes, Chris Freshwater and Brian Saunders with 17. Mystery prize went to Marilyn Podmore, Sue O’Hagan and Barry Kirk and the jackpot was not drawn as ends played did not constitute a game. So the jackpot is still $600. Get your teams in now for March 14. Hinterland Ladies: Glasshouse 1 vs Nambour. The pair’s team of Lee Meyers and Di Garland got up but unfortunately Sue O’Hagan, Lyn Griffiths and Jan Lawson went down in the triples with Glasshouse losing overall. Next week is a bye. Glasshouse 2: The pairs team of Noelene Annakin and Eileen Pierce had a hard fought draw. The triples team, Chloe Runge, Viv James and Joy Reason had a huge win with Glasshouse winning overall. Next week’s game is away to Nambour. Hinterland Men vs Nambour was not a great afternoon and not too much positive to say, with all four rinks going down. Saturday Premier 7s Division 4 home against Ferny Grove. It was very good afternoon with the home side winning all three rinks, Dean Shaw getting up in the singles, Di Hume and Wendy Platt having a win in the pairs, and the fours team of Bruce Angus, Simon Richter, Bill Tumbridge and Rodney Sharpe having their third win in a row. Division 3 was home against Coolum Beach. Ross Sielge went down in the singles, while Rob Scullion and Barry Kirk had a narrow loss in the pairs. The fours team of Ann White, Mac Townson, Graham Nicholson and Terry Little were good enough to have a win. Don’t forget Scroungers this Friday night. Arrive at the club at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. The cost is $10. Names can be placed down at the club. All welcome including non members.
Brisbane Lions coming to Landsborough Dayne Zorko and Ryan Lester from the Brisbane Lions will visit the Glasshouse Hinterland AFL Club this Thursday, February 22, at the Landsborough Sports Complex on Tunnel Ridge Road. This coincides with the Auskick program kicking off, as well as the official start to training for the club, of which Dayne is an ambassador. The boys will be on hand to take the kids through some drills and also answer any questions the kids have about AFL. The NAB AFL Auskick program makes learning to play AFL fun, safe and easy for boys and girls. Through weekly coaching sessions they will learn the skills of the game in an exciting, social and safe environment. Children will learn the fundamental motor skills vital for future physical activity and sport participation as well as learn how to interact with other children as part of a team in small group activities. The program also provides a great opportunity for parents to interact with their kids through the activities, have the opportunity to make new friends, learn about the game and spend quality time with their children. The Glasshouse Hinterland AFL club is holding a ‘Come and Try’ day for junior boys and girls aged up to 16 who are interested in learning more about the great game of AFL. The session will also be held this Thursday, February 22, at the Landsborough Sports Complex and will run from 4pm-5pm. This is an opportunity to come and meet the coaches who will provide the kids with a skills session so that they can learn the act of kicking, marking, bouncing and handballing just like they do in the AFL and AFLW.
Witta Tennis Contributed by Pauline Fraley Wednesday was an extremely hot day, and the Witta Wagtails went down to Nambour Heights 37-21, thanks to all players on the day for the Wagtails playing in the heat. Whistlers played at Witta against Ballinger Smartinis in the first match of the year. We were happy to catch up with everyone, happy to be back on the court. We all struggled with the heat but we managed to finish all the sets. Score was 48-12 games, 8-0 sets. Team was Liz Mellish, Maree Hooley, Donna Kuskopf and Aki Lepper. The first game of the season is always hard especially in the extreme heat conditions at Nambour Showgrounds. The match was almost called off after the first two sets but a breeze came up and the Wildcats went back out. Which turned out to be a big mistake, as the humidity went down but the temperature kept on going up, affecting everybody. We called it off a bit late which gave the win to Nambas No Faults. All captains and players should be aware of the heat rule which can be downloaded from TQ website. Social tennis is on Monday from 8am and Saturday 1pm. All welcome. For court bookings phone 0437 295 501 or go to www.wittatennis. com.au.
Glasshouse Country & Maleny News
Contributed by Jenny Oxenham Tuesday February 13: The club held a Canadian Foursomes 18 hole Competition for both the men and the ladies. First place went to Michael Springer and Niel Cronk with 69.875, runners-up went to Ian Dauth and Don Lemon with 71.5 and third place went to Rob Bailo and Jan Johnson with 72.5. BRD included Rod and Vivien Powell, Denis Hickey and Liz Mellish and Neil Stenhouse and Bill Reynolds. NTP were (3) Vivien Powell, (5) Liz Mellish and (12) Hans Van Senbeeck. Wednesday February 14: The ladies of our club played an 18 hole Stableford event with first place going to Toni Bishop with 33 points, runner-up was Robin Hay with 29 points on a count-back from third place winner Christine Lemon and Maxine Gilbert, who both also had 29 points. NTP were (3) Christine Lemon and (5) Maxine Gilbert. Friday February 16: Our usual Friday Chook-Run 9 hole competition attracted quite a few golfers who enjoyed the afternoon breeze. First place went to John Ecuyer, runner-up was Rod Waldron and there was a tie for third place between Anne Devane and Peter Gilbert. Saturday February 17: There was an 18 Hole Multiplier Stableford (2 Players) 4BBB for the men in our club. Maleny Bowls Club Contributed by Miles Allen On Valentine’s Day four bowlers travelled to Kilcoy and braved the hot, humid weather to play 26 ends. They won their first game against a high-ranked team from Kilcoy but after a delicious lunch they couldn’t get the better of the next team. Someone had the brilliant idea of finishing the game early in deference to the heat and before you could say ‘Jack’, the team was in the air-conditioned car heading back to Maleny. Twilight Bowls saw 42 players turn out on Valentine’s Day evening for some very social bowls, chocolates and a special 'loving' raffle which was won by Ian Dickson. The winners of the bowls were the Amigos, Mighty 10s, Mobile Kingdom, Outlaws and Krackerjacks who handled the Handles with ease. The Young Ones and the Tutors had their first wins of the season and it is good to see that all the teams have now gained some points. Mobile Kingdom are the only team with maximum points so far and are at the top of the ladder. Some experienced members suggest they’ll stay there for a while and then mobilise themselves southwards! On Friday, four games of Scroungers were played as the sun slowly disappeared and the air cooled. Ray Pantlin, Relma Godfrey and Steve Lawrence all won keenly contested, close games. However Ray Elmore was the clear winner of his game. With two wins out of two appearances, if he wins next week the judges will most likely be ordering a drugs test. There was another good turnout for the gettogether after the game. The new jackpot cash prize wasn’t won so it doubles next Friday.

Beerwah Golf Club Ladies results Contributed by Brenda Briese Whew!! This is what you call a heat wave! Not conducive to playing golf. But being golf tragics there are always the diehards who play in all conditions. Saturday February 10: We played a Stableford with 22 players, the winner with a very fine 33 pts (handicap 4) was Jo Malone OCB from Joey Eccles (handicap 18). NTP: (2) Susan Williamson, (5) and (16) Jo Malone, (2nd shot 18) Sonia Kenway. BRD to 31 pts. Thursday February 15: We had 35 very keen ladies for another Stableford. Our sponsor for the day was Bridget John, thank you. As the greens are being renovated, we played the front nine twice. Winner was Lea Doyle with a very worthy score in this extreme heat of 40 pts. Runner up was Teresa Keast on 37 pts, second runner up was Vikki Bartel on 35 pts OCB. NTP: (2) Teresa Keast, (5) Cathy Stone, (14) Lea Doyle. BRD to 30 pts. Hoping by next week we will be enjoying more pleasant weather!

Your Stars ARIES March 21 - April 20 People in situations evoke sympathy and understanding. A private temptation lures you in and demands your indulgence. Perhaps it will do you no harm, and perhaps even do you some good! The weekend sees you with a turbulent emotional relationship because Uranus is explosive, Jupiter passionate, and Saturn is extremely stubborn! TAURUS April 21 - May 21 Soulful energies move into warm love and appreciation. The Moon, moving through your sign continues the trend of fulfilling your needs and warming your relationships. A developing alliance deepens next week. It is time to move your thinking “outside the box”. Your vision moves to a cosmic emphasis on far reaching plans. GEMINI May 22 - June 21 Too much wishful thinking makes it easy to deceive yourself. Especially about love or money. The first quarter Moon in your sign inspires special confidence and self-esteem that lasts you through the end of February. Good communication between family members invites a lively exchange of stories. A job requires completion this week. CANCER June 22 - July 22 Now that Mercury, Venus and the Sun, are moving through Pisces, your compatible companion sign, this means light socialising, relaxed artistic painting or singing and dancing. These soulful activities would be stress reducing in the best way possible. There is communication to settle on trips that combine logic and intuition. Amicable auspices.
Week Beginning 21/02/18

LEO July 23 - August 23 This is the week that will see you finish up putting together a good deal! The stars enhance you snagging an excellent bargain. Make sure you take advantage of any opportunity or fresh options that come at this time. There is an event concerning a stress level in your life that corrects a defect and improves your health during this week. VIRGO August 24 - September 23 There are multiple good reasons for spending a little extra time, or money, on your appearance. Perhaps it is a new wardrobe and it may start a new chapter in an exciting union with others. This is the week for a well-deserved boost to your self-esteem. You get on well with the signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Perhaps a progressive idea. LIBRA September 24 - October 23 The first quarter Moon from the 23rd occurs in Gemini, which symbolises a change to your situation, however you may feel torn between two options from the 23rd to 28th. A psychic and emotional space creates a healthful process of healing, repairing or letting go. This means the stage is clear for whatever new situation arrives after the 23rd. SCORPIO October 24 - November 22 Love may come to you in mystical dreamy ways, flowing right into your heart and soul. Jupiter being in your sign all this year makes it so easy to relate to someone who is both affectionate, smart and reasonable. An interest in psychic development and paranormal research aspects your life strongly to the end of February. All inspirational!

SAGITTARIUS November 23 - December 21 This is the week to share your wisdom of experience and well-earned skill sets. There is the urge to give someone a second chance or to revisit a topic or a relationship. There is a sentimental Neptune influence, strongly involving a spiritual interest in your personal life and that may be discussed in a hot topic of conversation. Get early starts now. CAPRICORN December 22 - January 20 With the conjunction of the Sun in Pisces as well as Mercury the artistic and intuitive sign of Pisces suggests that a bargain can be found regarding going to theatre or a concert. Perhaps you see a very good bargain for a cruise. Maybe after all these years you buy a musical instrument or there is perhaps a crafted piece of stone sculpture you want. AQUARIUS January 21 - February 18 You are in touch with those who need your help and only those who are worthy of it. If a friendship requires a commitment give it your all as nothing half way will do. You just must not allow yourself to end up playing the role of victim. Any plans to the end of the month must have room to manoeuvre in case of unexpected events. PISCES February 19 - March 20 There is a subtle healthy link between your mind, body and soul that is likely to produce excellent results to the month’s end. Meditation, pottery or art therapy, as well as water exercise are perhaps just a few examples of all your enticing possibilities. Vivid dream symbols may hold special inspiration. A new friendship is made and a personal awakening.
