Maleny emergency services complex a step closer

Maleny emergency services complex a step closer

The Minister for Fire and Emergency Services, Craig Crawford, came to town last week to see where the new Maleny emergency services complex will be constructed.

The complex will house the SES, the urban fire brigade and the rural fire brigade all within the one facility on the corner of Macadamia Drive and Dixon Avenue, Maleny.

Addressing members of all three services, Mr Crawford explained that the process of finding and securing land is always the longest part of any building project.

“The next stage is to finalise the plans and commence construction,” he said.

The urban brigade is currently situated on Bunya Street opposite the high school but the SES and rural brigade have been sharing a shed in the Maleny Showgrounds.

“Touch wood … there’s only one more Maleny Show to go for you,” the Minister said, referring to the situation where the two services have to move out each year for Maleny Show week to make way for the dairy pavilion.
