Hi Everyone
T
his year marked the 43rd annual Beerwah Charity Sports Day and the dedication and enthusiasm of the organisers didn’t let a bit of rain stop them. Sadly they did have to cancel the horse and sporting events that are normally run on the oval for safety reasons. But in true theatrical style they decided on Saturday morning that the ‘Show must go on’. Many locals who regularly attend and the dedicated volunteers put on their rain coats, grabbed their gum boots and found umbrellas so that they could still support the important local fundraiser for the Cancer Council Queensland. People spokespersons and Elders, Ken Murphy and Noel Blair, say that no one from the government has made any contact with them regarding any new plans to reopen the summit climb on Mt Beerwah.
State Government announcing that they have allocated funding for projects in the Glass House Mountains National Park and will soon commence reopening the summit climbs on Mt Beerwah and Mt Tibrogargan.
“
In the GCNews edition of August 13, a spokesperson for Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing announced that their highest priority … “is re-opening the summit access route on Mt Tibrogargan. Work is underway to progress this stage as soon as possible.” When asked if the views of the recognised traditional owners had been sought in the decision to reopen the tracks, the Department spokesperson made it clear they had. “Mt Beerwah is within the Native Title Determination Area held by the Jinibara People. The Kabi Kabi First Nation has an interest over a claim area that includes Mt Tibrogargan. “The Department is aware of the varying views of the Traditional Owners regarding climbing the peaks. “Discussions will be held with Traditional Owner groups in the very near future,” they said. But this has come as a surprise to both Traditional Owner groups. In a statement provided to GCNews, Jinibara

That ‘old man’ – the father of the children – he deserves so much more respect than to be climbed over. That’s the lore of the Kabi Kabi People."
“In 2010, Jinibara representatives met in Caboolture with managers within QPWS (Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service) to discuss the management of Mt Beerwah. The Jinibara representatives stated that Mt Beerwah was of great cultural significance to them, and they did not wish to have climbing paths on this mountain,” they said. “The managers from QPWS agreed that their preferred approach was not to encourage climbers, and said they would erect a sign in the carpark near Mt Beerwah stating that the mountain was of cultural significance and should not be climbed. “This was the last time that QPWS consulted with the Jinibara People about the management of Mt Beerwah.” Tony Dalton, part of the joint applicant for the Kabi Kabi People native title claim (within which

Mt Tibrogargan sits) and recognised Kabi Kabi First Nation spokesperson, also says that the Department’s statement is wrong. “There is no way that they would be able to know what my views, or those of the Kabi Kabi People are, towards reopening the track up Mt Tibrogargan … as none of them have ever spoken to me about it. No contact at all,” he vehemently said. In response to the Department’s statement that they are aware of the varying views of the Traditional Owners, Ken and Noel insist that their views have never varied. “We can state with certainty that the view of the Jinibara People about climbing Mt Beerwah remains unchanged. Our view is that the mountain should not be climbed or treated in a way that offends the laws and customs of the Jinibara.” Tony concurs, saying that it is the Kabi Kabi People’s view that there should be no climbing on Mt Beerwah. “We are totally opposed to reopening the Mt Tibrogargan summit climb as it is against our culture and our lore,” he said. “That ‘old man’ – the father of the children – he deserves so much more respect than to be climbed over. That’s the lore of the Kabi Kabi People.” In view of these Tradtional Owner comments, when asked if there was anything the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing would like to clarify about their prior statement or whether they stand by the prior statements, a short statement was issued. “The Glass House Mountains Outdoor Recreation Trails Initiative simply provides a framework to
recognise local recreation opportunities, and consultation with traditional owners and other interested parties will take place in due course as part of progressing the planning for this project,” a spokesperson said.
“
... yet the Traditional Owners who have recognised nonexclusive rights have not even been informed or consulted ...
This appears to contradict their previous announcement in GCNews (edition August 13) that … “Work on the summit tracks is about to begin very soon.” It is this apparent neglect to consult with the Traditional Owners which particularly upsets Ken and Noel. “But most of all, the Jinibara People find it unacceptable that planning for these projects has reached a point where public statements have been released, community groups have been consulted and a working relationship established, and yet the Traditional Owners who have recognised non-exclusive rights have not even been informed or consulted by QPWS. “As the (GCNews) article notes, those discussions may be held in the near future, but at this stage the only information available to the Jinibara People is what has been printed in GCNews,” said Ken and Noel. And it’s not anything monumental that the Traditional Owners are seeking from the Government. “We ask that our rights under the Native Title Act and the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act be respected,” requested Ken and Noel.

Drone above the Mountains
Last Wednesday at the Glass House Mountains lookout it was lights, camera, and camera, when production company Taxi set up from 6.00am using cutting edge technology in the form of drone cameras. The filming was part of a campaign being developed by Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) and Tourism and Events Queensland. The campaign will feature natural icons of the region - the Pumicestone Passage, the Glass House Mountains, and Noosa National Park. The campaign will extend nationally and internationally to key markets of Melbourne and Sydney and for the first time, will include television advertising in New Zealand. This theme reinforces Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd’s naturally refreshing branding and natural features of the region – showing that the area is about much more than just beaches.

Recycled plastic beehives stack up for pitch prize A planned business based on beehives made from recycled plastic created a buzz at the final of the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast’s annual Business Pitch competition last week (Thursday, August 14). Beerburrum beekeepers Ann and Jeff Ross won the Concept category of the contest after impressing judges with their ‘show me the honey pitch’, which outlined their plans to produce innovative beehives designed to deter disease and pests like the deadly small hive beetle. The couple’s prize includes $1,000 for the development of the business, bookkeeping services, financial and legal consultations, website development, smartphone app development, a promotional film, an advertising package and Innovation Centre membership. “This will be a huge cost saving and has come at just the right time for our business,” Ann said. Ann and Jeff have been testing their hives for the past eight months and are about to enlist Queensland Professional Beekeepers Association members to do further field testing before they begin production. Ann is studying a Bachelor of Business at the University of the Sunshine Coast and credits her studies with helping prepare for the competition and planning their new business venture, Hive Haven.
Ann and Jeff Ross with their beehives and honey product “Studying entrepreneurship really helped me write a good business plan,” she said. “I drew on what I’ve learned in accounting to complete the financial section and the mentors at the Innovation Centre supported the creative drive of the concept. It also gave me the confidence to convey it all verbally in the pitch to the judges.” Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast CEO and competition judge Mark Paddenburg was impressed by the couple’s planning and ideas. “Hive Haven’s concept addressed a number of serious problems facing a niche but profitable industry, and was backed by a solid business plan and financial projections,” he said.

Local students cook up a storm in Ekka Final Last month GCNews brought you a story warning Jamie Oliver to watch out as the hospitality students in Glasshouse Country were making their mark. The Sunshine Coast was recently represented at the State Final of the 2014 Junior Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge by Jess and Abbey from Beerwah State High and Glasshouse Country Christian College’s Lani Kombanie and Michaela Lal. The finals featured 12 regional finalist teams of two members from across the state and were held at the Ekka in in purposely built kitchens on Saturday, August 16.
The Beerwah High team impressed the judges with a Chicken Ballotine served on pea puree with roasted vegetables, a parmesan potato stack and a chicken and white wine sauce and took out the silver medal. Jess and Abbey each received $350.00 prize money; in addition the school won $300.00. Just behind them were Lani and Michaela, who took out the third place. The girls each received $175.00 and the school received $150.00. Now in its fifth year, the competition involved around 200 Year 10 students, from 52 schools over six Queensland regions who competed in the Junior Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge.

Winner of Yaris from Witta
By Lea Parkes At 12.00noon last Saturday at the Beerwah Marketplace the Sunshine Toyota Dealership Managing Director Darren Venning drew out the winning ticket for Toyota Yaris which has been a promotion running for the past two month at the centre. The winner was Tony McDonald of Witta, who was immediately contacted by the Centre Manager, Judy Dewar on the phone to advise of the good news. As the call was made on speaker phone I can confirm that Tony was quite surprised and his initial reaction was to check that Judy was serious before sharing a declaration of love for her! Which seems like a normal response when a total stranger rings you out of the blue to say you have won a car!

Business Buzz with Sonia Clark Ken Bannister opened the Subway at Beerwah nine years ago so it was a sad day when he and wife Jodie said goodbye to their long term staff members and regular customers recently. While they have sold the business, they won’t be leaving Beerwah, and they plan to open their new Simpson Street business by the beginning of October before the celebration for the revitalisation of the street. The business called Kwerky Café will be located next door to Bombay Bliss. The café will serve their own label coffee which is a special blend created for them and a small selection of food mostly sweet treats and the totally divine Colin James Gelato. The décor of the café will live up to its quirky name – with a few surprises in store. Work on the shop will begin soon and keep an eye out for Elissa, Gail, Ken, Jodie and Jodie when the doors open.
Cellarbrations at Landsborough are dedicating the month of September to showcasing their organic wine range. The promotion will feature daily tastings, as well as special wine representative visits each Friday afternoon from 3.30pm – 6.30pm offering free tastings and product information. The following Friday afternoons will see representatives from Rosnay - tasting Freedom wines, Samuel Smith & Son - tasting Yalumba Dan from Gardeners Organic wine, and Angoves - tasting Temple Ground organic wines Bruer and Angoves Organic selections. This is a great way to familiarise yourself with what’s on offer and customers who purchase a bottle from the large promotional range in September will get the chance to win a bumper hamper competition featuring a number of organic wines and tasty organic produce from Kookaburra organics.

Well you will be pleased to know that the Glasshouse Mountains Neighbourhood Centre is delighted to be once again holding a Car Boot and Country Market as part of the Glasshouse Country Festival in October. The Market will raise money to maintain the Neighbourhood Centre’s many community services, as well as bringing the community together with kid’s entertainment, music, market stalls, food and the opportunity to connect. Come along as a stallholder or with your car boot
Glasshouse Country Uniting Church's Harvest of Hands and Lands Thanksgiving Service last Sunday. Congregation members brought fruit, flowers, vegetables or goods that they had made to present as a ‘thanksgiving’ for blessings received in the past year. The service innovatively commenced with The Lord's Prayer in txt and after the service, goods were sold for donations towards the local schools chaplaincy service. Even though the government pays $20,000 per year per Chaplain, extra funds still have to be raised for each Chaplain. Mike Turner works the full week, so funds need to be raised to be able to pay him. Mike appreciates the wonderful support he receives from many businesses, community groups and churches in this area. As Mr or Mrs Anonymous has continued to faithfully deposit substantial amounts this year, we can only thank them via Glasshouse Country News.

Recently GCNews asked Cr Baberowski about the poor surface of the road on Old Landsborough Road, outside Skippy Park following the recent work to install turning lanes. The councillor now advises that an asphalt overlay is expected to be laid in early October. The timing of the work has been chosen to coincide with the final Simpson Street, Beerwah Streetscape asphalt works and therefore reduce the costs as a road crew will already be in the area. This overlay will improve the surface finish of the turning lanes and help to further build our pride in our division’s expanding network of outstanding family-friendly parks.

Theft the final straw
Owners of the Beerburrum business Djoo Gun'du have been stunned by the response they have received from their entry into the Beerwah Charity Sports Day and Spring Carnival scarecrow competition – an event that creates awareness about cancer and raises funds for Cancer Council Queensland. The business sells a range of goods including indigenous inspired arts, crafts, gift lines, and souvenirs, as well as bush tucker. Djoo Gun’du’s display features three aboriginal scarecrows – two adult figures and one child – adorned with traditional-styled artwork. They were made to honour their indigenous ancestors, to bring cultural awareness to the community, and to remind us that cancer doesn’t discriminate. While many locals and visitors have admired the display and responded in a positive way, the business owners have been shocked by some of the responses they have received, among which have been vicious racial and verbal abuse. They have also been the victims of escalating cyber bullying attacks. Sadly there have been several attempts to vandalise the scarecrows including removing their heads, having their eyes poked out and other disfigurements. The final straw for the business owners was when one of the scarecrows was stolen sometime after the store closed last Thursday night and before reopening on Friday morning. It appears that the removal and stealing of the scarecrow had been planned as the person needed to be prepared with cutting implements to detach them from the fence. The theft has been reported to the police and the business owners have requested that if anyone has any information could they pass it on to crimestoppers or the police. Inspirational teachers at Landsborough For the second year in a row, the National Excellence in Teaching Awards (NEiTA) Foundation has congratulated Landsborough State School on having staff nominated for an ASG Inspirational Teaching Award.
ENROL NOW FOR 2015
Principal Kristy Walton, along with teachers Irene Faulkner, Jacinta Stubbings and Melanie Peters, were nominated by members of the school community for one of these prestigious awards and have been presented with a NEiTA Certificate of Nomination. Staff and students are celebrating this exciting news. The National Excellence in Teaching Awards provide communities with the rare opportunity to encourage, recognise, honour and reward their dedicated, talented, innovative and inspiring teachers whose efforts often go unrecognised. The NEiTA awards highlight the work, not only of individual teachers, but also the team contribution of all teachers. According to Landsborough's P & C President, Jo Brooks, teachers make a difference in the community every day. “They inspire their students with the joy of learning. Most teachers enter the profession because they love awakening the curiosity of young minds. To see a student succeed is often the biggest reward for a teacher,” she said.

By Tara Cooper Chocolate mealworms were on the menu at Pacific Lutheran College recently, with students daringly sinking their teeth into the crunchy critters, in the name of science. As part of National Science Week, held August 16 to 24, the college hosted their own science fair with the theme ‘Food of the Future’ to inspire, spark curiosity and promote a love of science among Prep to Year 6 students. Topics included ‘reuse, recycle and reduce,’ ‘natural filtration,’ ‘food in space,’ ‘the effect of plant growth using different types of soil’, ‘edible bugs,’ and ‘food samples highlighting the effect of sugar and preservatives and how it prolongs mould growth’, among many others. There were competitions that tested students’ memories against that of a chimpanzee, and teamwork activities that timed and compared students’ speed of opening something covered with plastic wrapping, to that of a crow.
Making a meal of it
Landsborough State School prides itself on having a school full of staff who are incredibly passionate about what they do. They are enthusiastic, caring and extremely approachable.
Enrolments are currently being taken for next year in all year levels from Prep through to Year 6. Don't delay … ensure that you enrol your child today.

In keeping with the school's motto 'Your Future, Our Focus', every staff member aims to provide the very best educational journey for every student.

Kids & Parenting Glenview Kids Bizz with the Superdads Love your kid’s mumma
By Mike Turner (Bass player for the Superdads) Hi guys, recently we ran a survey with a bunch of local dads to see what their Top 5 Tips for being a great dad would be. Many of these dads commented that they felt that loving and looking after their kid’s mum was of real importance. Now, before I get started, I want to say that I know every family is different – mums and dads are at home in varying degrees and also due to separation many families share parenting at different times. I also know that relationships between spouses and partners can sometimes be difficult. So with my title ‘love your kid’s mumma’ I want you to think about how this would look for you – if you don’t live with your kid’s mum now, there may still be ways you can show her love and / or respect. If we as dads can demonstrate to our kids that we love their mum it will help them to feel safe
and secure in the knowledge that the two most significant adults in their life are supporting each other and helping each other. It also helps them build their identity as children in terms of resilience (dealing with stress and disappointment) and self-confidence. Another great benefit is it helps them learn how to relate well with others including those of the opposite sex. Sometimes this is not easy, so make sure you can find a good mate who you can talk to about this. Another option if you are open to it is chatting with a counsellor. They can often give good strategies to help get communication going again when things break down. Enough from me… keep up the good work. Fathering is so important and our kids really need it. ‘Dad's Day Out’ is coming up soon; we will be performing there at Skippy Park this Father’s Day.
The Superdads – we are a bunch of guys who love playing music and have formed a band. Their name came from something their guitarist Pete said once… “I don’t just want to be an average dad, I want to be an exceptional dad” – the idea resonated with them. www.superdads.com.au

10 Reasons for Children to see a Chiropractor Some people wonder why more and more parents are taking their children to see chiropractors. The answer is simple: whether we have a large spine or a tiny little one, if that spine is negatively impacting the nervous system – the master control system of our body – then our body is unable regulate and co-ordinate itself correctly. The nervous system is the ‘Master Controller’ The nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) is the master controller of our body. If the communication between the brain and body becomes distorted, then we may experience all sorts of communication errors. For babies this may play out as colic or irritability, an inability to suckle and breastfeed or poor sleep habits. For a child poor nerve communication may result in developmental delays, an inability to concentrate, behavioural problems, digestive issues, asthma, headaches – the list is endless. While chiropractic may be able to help with a number of health issues, chiropractic is not a band-aid cure for any health challenge. Our focus is not treating or curing ailments; our focus is ensuring the nervous system has every opportunity to communicate clearly and work effectively. This enables our body to then recreate ‘order’ and coordinate healing and better function. Imagine having a phone conversation with poor reception. While you may get bits of the conversation, it is very likely you’ll misunderstand or misinterpret some important information. In the same way, chiropractors spend years studying the nervous system to be able to detect
Beerwah – 5494 0499 www.gcnews.com.au
and correct these ‘communication errors’ within the spine and nervous system. How do kids get nerve irritation? Nerve irritations (or vertebral subluxations) occur as a part of normal daily life. They may result from physical, chemical and emotional stressors or ‘insults’ to our health, such as bad posture, sleeping on our stomachs, knocks and falls, poor food choices, dehydration, exposure to toxins, and stress and anxiety. Some research suggests that even before these lifestyle stressors, nerve irritation may occur in the uterus from awkward positioning and restricted movement in the womb. Subluxations or nerve irritation may also occur from birth complications such as long labours, very fast labours, or forceps or caesarean delivery. Babies can be checked by chiropractors immediately after birth and special techniques have been developed to carefully correct any subluxated areas. When we appreciate how the nervous system may be hindered it makes sense why more parents are having their child’s spine and nervous system assessed. So … 10 reasons parents take their children to see a chiropractor: 1. To encourage good neural plasticity (brain and nerve development).
2. To support ‘first-class’ nerve communication throughout the body to promote health and wellbeing. 3. Local traffic area?
The changes to Simpson Street have most certainly changed the streetscape and has made for a more appealing look to an old railway town. It would then be without doubt with all the money spent on the upgrade that the town planners had factored in a traffic plan to compliment the end product! It would be possible for it to be a local traffic area only with restricted heavy vehicle access, a turn right arrow at the Co-op corner and direction to Steve Irwin Way and similar at the other end at the roundabout with directions to Landsborough, routing traffic along Peachester Road via the traffic lights. At the moment I have seen large vehicles and through traffic clogging up the intersection, as the time allowed for the light is too short to turn into Peachester Road. This requires you having to wait up to three changes before you can turn; also the old left turn light is still there even though the lane has been removed. It would be good to know that these improvements to the traffic flow are in hand and will be implemented sooner than later. So over to our local councilor Mr Rick Baberowski to let us know the plan and when it is likely to be implemented. Len Waud Beerwah
Lost camera at Districts Sports
On Friday, August 15, we attended the Districts Sport Carnival, held at the Glasshouse Mountains Sports oval and it was a great day. Sadly we lost a Maginon Action Video Camera, somewhere on the field. It is a small black camera, with clear casing, that looks like a Go Pro. We are appealing to the good people of the District who attended on that day, to please show good sportsmanship by giving us a call if you have found it or know anyone who may have picked it up. If you have any information would you please call Amy on 5438 7270. Or alternatively, if you have found the camera, would you please hand it into the office at Glasshouse Mountains Primary School. Thank you so much. Amy Glass House Mountains
It's official
After a successful 12 months of innovative business providing street food to the residents of the Mooloolah Township, your council has decided that Mooloolah cannot have Bangkok Street Fare and have refused our application for a street permit. The first four reasons given are that we are not consistent in character with the ‘identity of the area as a rural town with a strong sense of place and associations with the past’. This is the old ‘white Australia policy’. We are not Anglo hicks with a milk pail and / or axe so we mustn't be allowed to be there. It is apparent that anything innovative is unacceptable in this council area. The next reason is that they don't believe we offer a community benefit or need, despite an average of 60 customers per week on our few hours of trading. They also cite essentially that they may one day possibly want to have the library trailer in that precise spot or some other activity when we would be there. Finally, they are concerned that our lights, which increase the lighting beyond what is there currently, may be more dangerous to visitors than having the little or no light currently available. Bottom line for them is that they were determined to get rid of us and have succeeded. We have two options; focus on the opportunity we have been given in Glasshouse RSL or leave the district and move to Moreton Shire or Brisbane who welcome innovative street food with open arms. But either way, our fellow residents, friends and the businesses we buy from in Mooloolah will miss out again. Please don't forget when you are next voting at a local election who the local councillor was who progressed this issue. Michael and Pon Berris Bangkok Street Fare
Re: Martin Balk letter
Democracy is here, we are just too lazy to use it! Australia is governed by its Constitution. For an insight into a pollie’s and our responsibilities, read ‘Your Will Be Done’ by Arthur A Chresby, a Research Analyst in Constitutional Law downloadable free from the web. Some snippets - sole reason for Parliament is to make laws for the people which reflect the will of the people; it is our duty to keep Parliament informed of our will; petitions with multiple signatures are not constitutionally acceptable - only one signature per petition or per letter is legal; debating and voting on strict party lines is a breach of the law and in contempt of a number of High Court decisions; if parliament disregard the
will of the people, the people have the power to directly inform the Queen and request her to have the law annulled or amended. Other interesting issues - the Constitution does not recognise a ‘council’ as a ‘government’ - Constitutional governments are limited to Commonwealth and State. At best, a council is an administrative arm of a State government and can collect rates, fines, permit fees etc - but only on behalf of the State. The funds must go to treasury and the government can only spend that money via Appropriation Bills. Legislation through the Local Government Act to try and overcome this problem cannot override the Constitution, which can only be changed by referendum. In short, for decades we have been conned (or are just too lazy to bother) into believing that Parliament’s role is to tell us what to do - wrong! If any of our local representatives, at all three ‘levels’, disagree with any of this, they are invited to respond publicly to the editor or in their columns in this newspaper. Kevin Pullen Landsborough
Close shaves
Why isn’t there a list of the close shaves people have endured at our shocking Main Roads entrance to Glass House Mountains Township from Steve Irwin Way? Lights here would also improve the control of the multi directional traffic just west of this shockingly abused intersection (e.g. vehicles moving up too far, no visible white line and lack of fellow consideration.) I think nothing of driving to North Queensland or using the good and bad roads in the mountainous areas we have, but I dislike (putting it mildly) this spot. It is only the good drivers keeping us alive. To the State Member and Minister for Main Roads please visit it at all hours of the day (like we have to) not just once. H W Armstrong Beerburrum
Thanks and welcome
We started our business on Steve Irwin Way back in 1998 knowing that it would be a challenge for us and our family. We have really appreciated everyone who supported us in any way, whether as a customer, or a supplier, along the way. Thanks in particular to our daughters Kylie and Holly for all their support over the years. Welcome to Neil and Chris the new owners, we wish them the best and good luck. Mooloolah Public Hall news Following the AGM, we welcome the new Management Team for the coming year. Eileen Woodhouse was nominated President, assisted by Hugh Herbstreit as Vice President. Thanks to the outgoing team who did a wonderful job of keeping 'our head above water' as costs of running the hall increase. No changes have been made to hiring rates but this will have to be addressed in the near future. To keep our Town Hall part of the community we need it to be used; to be hired out for parties, weddings, social gatherings as well as our regular weekly groups. The costs are minimal for hiring compared to the costs of maintaining this hall so please consider using the hall more for your local gatherings. Our monthly meetings are held on the second

Currently we have about 40 members and aim to see this figure rise to 60 by Christmas. The cost to join is only $5.00 per year. The advantages of becoming a member is to have social involvement, and to be giving something back to the community. It is challenging and steep learning curve and all of the volunteers are so supportive. We also have a visiting counsellor here, currently serving on Fridays. Emergency relief is also offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays between 9.30am - 12.30pm. The neighbourhood centre is located at 46 Bray Street Mooloolah in an old school building, and the phone number for any enquiry is 5494 7822 Monday - Friday 9.30am -12.30pm. It is a fantastic place to come for a Saturday morning drive for a natter, and to drop off old clothes or seek now ones.
Our OP shop which is open between 9.00am and 1.00pm Monday - Saturday is going very well. It has a quick and high turnover of goods from clothing to furniture. Clean and wearable items and furniture (except for tv’s) are welcomed. We are always happy to have additional Volunteer staff - it is a great way to have some social contact and to contribute to the community. On July 19 we had an extraordinary general meeting to ratify the constitution in readiness to achieve charitable and not-for-profit status. Two members participated in a half-day workshop about this topic which was they found very informative. On September 6 at 3.00pm we are holding the Annual General Meeting at the centre, so we welcome all members to participate, and new members to join. Afternoon tea will be provided.
One year on and going strong The Mooloolah Lions re-established their club just over 12 months ago and during that time they have been involved in many local events, their membership has grown, and they are looking forward to being able to contribute more to the local community. In the last few months they have set up their impressive barbeque trailer at both the Mooloolah State School Art Show, and for the sports carnival at the Eudlo State School, as well as their regular fortnightly fundraising barbecues in Mooloolah on a Saturday. They have also run a very successful Trivia night and plans are underway for another on October 11. Being a Lion is all about serving your
community, your region and on some occasions internationally, with the broad range of projects that Lions are involved with. But it’s also a great opportunity for personal development and to learn new skills. It is also a great way to meet new people, enjoy the fellowship and spending time with others, and ultimately build lasting friendships. If you are interested in joining the Mooloolah Lions to help the group you will be very welcomed. They meet the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6.30pm at the Mooloolah Community Centre. If interested please contact either Paul 0412 725 667, Ron 0413 443 130, or Mary on 5445 9897 to find out more.

Style, atmosphere and value … Jae’s Place, Glenview Jae’s Place, on Connection Road at Glenview, are completing their finishing touches ahead of its opening on Wednesday, August 27. Previously named the Mooloolah Valley Country Club, the building was recently an empty shell before new owner John Pearson stepped in, bought the premises and started the renovations. Originally from Mooloolah, John saw the potential in the building and wanted to create a dining and meeting place for the local community. Acknowledging the diversity of people in the surrounding towns, the venue seeks to cater to everyone with its welcoming atmosphere that exudes country stylishness with an upmarket twist. The interior has been beautifully devised by talented Sunshine Coast interior designer, Kelly Adame from Love Ur Space Interior Design, along with local artist Monique O’Callaghan from A-MiKah homewares and fabric design.
There will be something to appeal to everybody, with a number of different areas including a coffee lounge, family area, tradies bar, main dining room and outdoor deck. The venue will offer a variety of options from affordable family dining, to a coffee and cake lounge for local catch up, a tradies after work drop in, and as a destination for a ladies night out. Wednesday, August 27 will be the soft opening with an initial menu for two weeks leading up to a grand opening in mid-September where they will host a family fun day. Giving people a chance to pop in and see what’s on offer, the family fun day will feature rides, face painting and a fair ground feel as well as a chance to sample the food and beverages. While Bistro meals will be available for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, coffee and cake will be available everyday from 10.00am. Using speciality blended coffee roasted on the Sunshine Coast, all staff will be trained by two qualified on-site baristas to make the perfect coffee every time. A special signature blend ‘Jae’s premium reserve espresso coffee’, unique to the establishment, will also be offered. Beverages will be complimented by cakes and sweet treats made by the chef on-site, including a gluten free range of biscuits and cakes. The venue has been staffed from local applicants who are all very excited to be part of something new. This includes General Manger, Kyle Marston, who brings over 30 years hospitality experience to the role, including 11 years as beverage manager at Caloundra RSL and previously as manager of the local Mooloolah bottle shop.
Business feature
John and Kyle invite everyone to come in and see Jae’s Place
Head Chef Josh Gannon previously owned a local Eudlo cafe and brings a unique and exciting take on bistro dining. In keeping with a family-friendly philosophy, kids are well catered for with their own ‘mini me’ menu and dedicated kids room with arcade games and movies. Parents will be able to dine and keep an eye on their children with an inhouse TV monitor and there are plans to extend the children’s playground. Friday and Saturday nights will feature local soloists and duo’s, whilst the venue will have it’s own dedicated courtesy bus that will service the surrounding areas and will travel further afield for a pickup and drop off service for meal bookings of five people or more.

Tourism and National Parks Forum
Firstly, thank you to everyone who has provided feedback on my recent comments flagging an idea to link Caloundra Road with the new Bells Creek Road interchange as a potential alternative to upgrading the Caloundra Road interchange. It is important to understand if this is an idea that the community would support and something we should investigate further.
Seniors feedback During a recent discussion with seniors in the electorate it became apparent that many seniors feel like they aren’t receiving enough information or are unsure where to access the information they need. Last week we held two seniors focus groups, one of them at Embracia in Glasshouse Country, to get an understanding of the best way to communicate important information. This has been an extremely beneficial exercise and we will be holding more of these discussion groups in the future. I would like to thank all of the seniors who attended. Your feedback will help us to communicate the information you want, in a way you want to receive it.
Listening Posts You may have noticed our Listening Posts over the last two weeks at Maleny, Landsborough, Beerwah and Glass House Mountains. If you see my signs, we are in your area so come and have a chat.
Have your say As always, feedback is appreciated and I encourage you to go to my Facebook page to receive electorate news and updates. I post frequently and I appreciate your comments. Facebook.com/MalBroughMP

I am pleased to announce that on Friday, August 29, I will be hosting Assistant Minister for Tourism, Gavin King MP in the Glass House electorate. The Assistant Minister’s visit will allow us the opportunity to showcase the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and demonstrate first hand how important tourism is to the future of our great region. We will be holding a free tourism forum that is open to anyone interested in the community. The forum will be at Glasshouse Mountains Sports Club, 902 Steve Irwin Way, from 9.00am to 10.30am.
Andrew’s ‘Tea Time’ in Glass House Taking time out to connect with the local community is a huge part of my job and is certainly the most rewarding part of being the Member for Glass House. Meeting with and hearing the concerns of people who live in our towns is the most important way for me to keep across the issues that we need to work on. In order to maintain the connection across different levels of our community, I started hosting ‘Tea Times’ throughout the electorate where a small group of people can meet with me over a cuppa to discuss their concerns for our community. My most recent ‘Tea Time’ was at the delightful Glasshouse Mountains Lookout Cafe and my guests for the event represented an excellent cross section of the Glasshouse region. My office is happy to take names from people who might be keen to attend any ‘Tea Times’ in the future so if you are interested call the office on – 5435 2013.
Queensland Small Business Week – September 1 – 6 Small businesses across Queensland are being encouraged to get behind Small Business Week and take opportunities to promote their operation. In turn, our community are being encouraged to support local businesses in their region with a particular focus on ‘Buy Local Saturday’. Any business owners who would like more information are encouraged to visit www.business.qld.gov. au. I also have plenty of Buy Local stickers and posters in my office so if you would like any sent to you call the office on 5435 2013.
You’re invited to Beerwah’s Prostate Cancer Forum Prostate cancer. The mere mention of those two words is enough to make some of us shut down, refuse to discuss what it’s all about, and for some who have been diagnosed, absolutely terrified of what journey lies ahead for them. Did you know prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men after skin cancer and the second-most common cause of cancer-related death in Australian men? Did you know more than 20,000 Australian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year? It’s time for us as a community to lift the lid on this very serious issue and start having a conversation about one of the most common cancers diagnosed in men right here on the Sunshine Coast, with more than 500 diagnosed each year between 2007- 2011. To coincide with Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, I am holding a Prostate Cancer Forum on September 5 at the Beerwah Community Hall from 10.00am - 12.00noon, and I am encouraging all men and their partners to please come along. Last year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and while I was incredibly lucky that specialists caught it early, my mission is to help shine the spotlight on prostate cancer and encourage men to undergo regular health checks. There will be several key speakers on hand to talk about all things prostate cancer along with some great information to take home courtesy of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. This forum is not just for those currently with prostate cancer, or those who have successfully overcome it. Prevention is the key to maintaining our health. It’s never too late to start looking after yourself and I warmly welcome you to attend this forum. To secure your seat and for catering purposes please email my office Caloundra@ parliament.qld.gov.au by August 29.

Counselling
By Gayle Rusterholz As a counselor I take a stance of curiosity and ‘not-knowing’ concerning the life of the person who comes for counselling. I am not the expert of how another person experiences life. This stance allows for the person coming, to decide what to talk about, and what not to talk about. Each person is free to choose how to live his or her life. As we often hear, people have amazing resources on which to draw in tough times. In the process of counselling we aim to facilitate a person’s search for the resources that will help at a particular time. This can involve listening to the person’s ‘problem’ story as well as looking for exceptions to the problem story - times when the person was able to make a different choice
Natural therapies
Massage
Facing life crises or transitions? Anxious, stressed, relationship issues? Want to tell your story?
and so find a different outcome. We search for these exceptions and use them to construct a different story, one which will give the person new hope and empowerment for the times ahead. 7 Secrets
This week I caught up with Kaylene Sullivan, who along with her husband Paul, owns and runs 7 Secrets at Glass House Mountains. They opened the doors three and a half years ago and since then Kaylene has continued to make changes, introduce new menu items and expand their operating hours to create the right mix for her loyal customers. Originally they just opened in the afternoon and began by offering the traditional Italian Pizza, Pasta and Gelato. These days during the day they are a busy café providing good coffee and tasty sweet treats and pastry items (made by Bucks Bakery) to eat in or take away, as well as somewhere to call in and pick up premade salad wraps and rolls. At night they are kept busy with their Pizza

and Pasta takeaway and delivery service, and they also sell milk and bread just in case their customers have forgotten to pick up the essentials on the way home. Now that they are stocking award winning Colin James Gelato they are seeing plenty more smiling faces who pop in for gelato. As we head into spring, Kaylene is going to be introducing freshly made sandwiches created to your individual requirements. She has also been busy working on a new website and has recently set up a new Facebook page. The website, which is still only in construction phase, will hopefully be operational by October – the website will allow customers to order on-line, which will be great if you are travelling home on the train, you can silently place your order to be

ready when your train arrives. Sure you could phone your order in but does everyone sitting around you want to know what you’re having for dinner? Recently 7 Secrets had their Facebook page hacked, and had to shut it down, so if you haven’t already liked their new page ‘7 secrets’ make sure you ‘like’ it so Kaylene can keep you up-to-date with their latest specials and offers. And don’t forgot it isn’t long now until Christmas party season, if you are planning a work party let Kaylene make the process easy for you! They can customise a menu and provide a per person quote. And stay tuned Kaylene has plenty more ideas to work through!

Happenings Out and About This year Beerwah Charity ‘Water’ Sports Day Beerwah Sportsground was one very wet location for this year’s Charity Sports Day and while the numbers were down, you couldn’t dampen the spirits of those that came along and supported the day. The photographic display in the comfort of the Bulldogs Clubhouse was pretty popular, as were the undercover food stalls and the marquee that was set up for the Strongman competition pulled a big crowd for their events.
Maths students under the pump
The air was electric in the moments before the first task for the 145 local students (up from 100 students last year) competing last week in the Interschool Maths Challenge held at Beerwah State School. This is the third year the event has been held for senior students, and for the first time this year, the participating schools also included Maleny State School. As the event is a competition the students took the tasks seriously, they seemed excited, and maybe a little bit anxious. The champions on the day were: Year 5 - 1st Maleny (Team 2), 2nd Mooloolah (Team 1), 3rd Glass House (Team 1). Year 6 - 1st Glass House (Team 1), 2nd Maleny (Team 2), 3rd Maleny (Team 1). Year 7 1st Beerwah (Team 1), 2nd Maleny (Team 1), 3rd Elimbah (Team 1). The students were challenged to problem solve individually and as a team, points were also awarded to teams demonstrating excellent communication skills.

Things 2 Do Like father like son
Japanese film ‘Like Father Like Son’ is Maleny Film Society’s feature film on Saturday, August 30. The film is about two baby boys who are switched at birth (a situation that has been explored elsewhere); however the dramas that explode six years later are viewed through the prism of the Japanese class system. One father is an affluent architect, too busy and ambitious to give his son any attention; the other is a happygo-lucky salesman with four other children, who always has time to play. Great performances from both children and adults, achieved by director Koreeda, document the resulting emotions in fine detail. Dinner on the night will be catered by Wild Rocket @ Misty’s from 6.00pm, for screening at 7.15pm. Maleny Film Society members can pre-book at Maleny Information Centre by phoning 5429 6751. www. malenyfilmsociety.info

Even better, bring dad along on the morning and treat him to a sausage or home baked cake, served with a delicious coffee from within the CWA Hall. There will be a Father's Day raffle drawn, and a free kid's craft area to have a go at making dad something of your own. Mooloolah Community Garden needs some loving
East Coast TAFE Students, from Nambour Campus, have set up a class at the Mooloolah Neighbourhood Centre on each Wednesday of this term. The aim of their learning is to assist the local community in breathing new life into the Mooloolah Community Garden, as a part of their Diploma of Community Services. The garden is alive with herbs, fruits and vegetables, and is currently maintained by a local Mooloolah family on Saturday afternoons. The true potential really depends on how the community views their garden and how they wish to use the space. The garden has ‘infinite potential’ says one student, who excitedly envisions a mural, mosaic art, infant handprints on garden beds and handmade flags draped along the fence; while permaculture, seedling and medicinal herb lore workshops take place. Imagine! At present, local community gardener, Natasha, would like to see another 10 or so people get involved on Saturday afternoons to tidy it up and make use of the remaining empty garden beds. What grows from there will take shape with enthusiastic minds and willing green thumbs. The students are keen to encourage other locals to become involved with this great opportunity to use the shared space. The students aren’t working in the garden, they are simply assisting in promoting the garden as a wonderful space. It is to bring people of the community together to toil, harvest and connect in the sunshine. Not to mention eat the juicy strawberries popping up between lush green leaves. Please feel welcome to wander in and get involved by coming along on Saturday afternoon between 2.30pm – 5.00pm.

3 unorthodox things to consider when buying an investment property There are so many ways a property could rise in value. From coming infrastructure improvements to the potential for alterations and additions, knowing what to look for to make sure your property is profitable down the line is crucial before you start perusing the different property investment loans out there. While these might seem obvious, did you know there are a variety of factors that are a little bit off the beaten track that many people don’t consider? While these might seem odd at first, they can very well have the same make or break effect on the success of your investment as the more standard ones. www.gcnews.com.au
Natural disasters It’s no secret that Australia is prone to the occasional natural disaster. Flooding, bushfires, tropical cyclones - the risk of these varies from state to state. The added cost of insurance for a property especially susceptible to these can eat away at the profits you would otherwise reap from your property. So do your research on the vulnerability that the particular area in which your property sits has to various natural events before making any decision. What’s the coffee like? Having a cuppa while doing research for your investment home loan might
seem counter-intuitive, but it can actually provide you with insight into whether this particular neighbourhood is on the up and up. Think about things like how many cafes are around, and whether they’re full. Is there a happening atmosphere in the area? And what kind of other shops and eateries are nearby? Architectural consistency Have a drive around the neighbourhood. What is the predominant architectural style? While neighbourhoods with traditional styles like the classic Australian Federation are unlikely to lose their lustre in the near future, more faddish styles such as Greek
revival or post-modern have a higher tendency to fade in popularity as tastes change. Also, keep an eye on whether the property you’re looking at fits with the overarching style of the whole neighbourhood, or it could drop in value. Teresa Harrison Phone 5422 9458 or 0410 648 098

The mirror-like surface of Moreton Bay stretched out to the east with its island horizon. Intriguing me was the sight of hand-breadth high waves breaking on the beach at my feet. They were orange in the light of the rising sun, as was the water clear across the bay. It occurred to me that these trickling wavelets could be the residue of real waves pounding on the surf side of Moreton. But where had they come from before that? Rather than stirring up the sandy island beach, these miniscule rollers were here just gently rocking a broken seashell back and forth. What power had generated a distant wave that this tiny shell should move slightly in front of my eyes? And then it dawned on this 19-year-old student that there was something existential in the answer. The wave did not create itself. The larger wave probably raised and lowered a few ships as it moved across the Pacific. It disturbed thousands of tonnes of sand on the east coast of Australia. And here at my feet it calmly rocked a shell! That dawning was to clarify the

existence of God for me, as the thoughts followed logically to a position of faith. Here was I with the wobbly shell, but out there was a far greater identity involved in the moving of thousands, millions, and billions of shells. That was just here in the Pacific area; and then the thought of the infiniteness of the universe out beyond! So hard to comprehend! Yet there could be something happening in many corners of each galaxy marked by the stars I had seen dim minutes before. It was a hallelujah moment when that dawn spelled the beginning of my understanding of the greatness of God. I was the equivalent of the shell. Yet He deigned to shine His light on me. As it says in Psalm 19 ‘The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky displays what his hands have made.’

Sporting success
Contributed by Glasshouse Country Christian College After two exciting days of competition the team from Glasshouse Country Christian College Primary District Athletics team were announced District Champions for 2014 The event was held at the Glass House Mountains Sports Club with weather threatening rain, but almost all events were contested in fine weather, much to the relief of athletes and spectators. Every member of the team contributed to this win and the school are very proud of them all. Lainey Grieve (Year 3) and Cassidy Ferris (Year 5) were age champions and Laura Vobr (Year 6) was runner up. There were 12 students from the Christian College team selected to represent the Glasshouse District at the Sunshine Coast Regional Athletics Championships coming up Cassidy and Laura received the in September. trophy on behalf of the team
Contributed by Andrea Balcombe Congratulations to Peachester Students who have recently demonstrated excellence in track and field athletics. There will be four budding athletes representing Coastal Small Schools Peachester Regional Team: Rhiarn, (Peachester and Beerburrum) in Mitchell, Jordy and Daine shot-put, discus, high jump and running at the up-coming Regional Athletic competition due to be held at the Sunshine Coast University in early September. Local boxers head to Golden Gloves
Contributed by Jenny Kelly
Thursday saw 52 ladies come out on a pretty windy day to compete for trophies kindly donated by members Pat Chapman and Janelle Balfe. We played a Verses Par game which basically means anything over a Nett par leaves you with a minus score for the hole. The worst score for the game would be –18 and the best would be + 18. Not many of them around. Our winner of Division 1, and best score of the day went to Julie McMahon with +2. Julie was followed by Helen Lewis on +1. Division 2 winner was Jackie Collinson who squared the card, on a count back from Marie Oxlade, also with a square. Number 2 was a skinner, however Cindy Godfrey was closest on the 5th and Noelene Annakin took out the 16th. Division 1 on the 18th was won by Mavis Brimelow, while Marie Oxlade won division 2. The random birdie was safe on 12 and the ball rundown went to –3. We are inviting the men to have a game next Thursday. These are always a great fun day. Until then stay safe and good golfing.
Helen Lewis and Julie McMahon with Janelle Balfe

Contributed by Steven Pitt On the weekend the Hinterland Boxing Club (HBC) sent a team of six athletes to the National Golden Gloves Tournament held at the Acacia Ridge Hotel in Brisbane. The National Golden Gloves is a prestigious boxing event with over 500 athletes competing over four days, matched according to age, experience and weight. First up on the Thursday we had our French ambassador Rudy De Sousa competing in a Quarter Final in the 81 Kg Men’s Elite Division. Rudy was courageous during the bout and although he didn’t come away with the win, he will take many good memories with him, when he returns to France. The following day Taylen Pitt was matched against a strong opponent from New South Wales in what was a very high level boxing match in the 69 kg Youth Division. This was a close and an extremely entertaining fight with Taylen’s opponent walking away with the decision to become the eventual gold medallist. On the Saturday we had four athletes boxing for Gold in finals. Dana Coolwell boxed in the 42 Kg Junior Division and was a class above his opponent and simply too strong, taking the Gold medal, after his opponent failed to come out for the third round. Next up Tiarna Collins competed in the 60 Kg Women’s Elite Division, in a very close contest that could have went either way, before Tiarna’s hand was raised and she was awarded the Gold. Leroy MacNamara was up next in the 66 kg Junior Division and boxed his best using pure strength and aggression to take the fight away from his opponent to take Gold. Last up Chaska Coolwell boxed a rugged contest that see-sawed throughout and could have gone either way however the win was deservedly awarded to Chaska’s opponent. It was a great effort from all the athletes and their results are a reflection of their commitment and dedication to the sport. We have a couple more tournaments over the following months before our first home town tournament in November this year. Dana Coolwell with his gold medal and Coach Steven Pitt

We remembered as much as we could and have placed the ad for free. On the morning, if you put a sign at the start of your road and out the front of your house, it should be OK as people will easily see where you are. Fun in the rain This year's Beerwah Charity Sports was a wet affair. While the horse section had to be cancelled, we waived the entry fee and urged people to come down to the grounds, enjoy the activities which could go ahead, and grab a bargain from the stalls. Thanks to all those good supporters who braved the weather and ensured that the sports day was not completely washed out. It was good to see so many people enjoying themselves, with our new feature the Strong Man and Woman Competition, being a huge success. A big thank you must go to the volunteer workers who cheerfully persevered in the rain to make the best of the wet conditions, and ensured that we still raised a substantial amount for CCQ. An example of the generous support from our local community was the cake stall, which raised over $900.00 from home baking, donated to support this worthy cause. Leading up to the day, the Committee was confident that with the interest shown in all areas we were on track for a record Charity Sports Day - if only the weather had been kind. However one can't be disappointed when we so badly needed the rain. Thanks again from the Committee to all volunteers, supporters, and to the business community for their generous support in sponsoring all sections of the program. Results of raffles and competitions will follow over the next couple of weeks, and the fund-raising outcome as soon as it is finalised.

Beerwah RSL Club I refer to the situation confronting the Beerwah RSL Club. I made comments in the letters pages at the time of the eviction and stand by those comments. Recent contributions, containing factual inaccuracies, overlook a number of important factors. One of these is the reasons why the Returned & Services League operates Clubs. Namely, to provide a social meeting place, but importantly to generate a cash flow to fund welfare services for returned and ex-service persons. To this end the Beerwah / Peachester RSL Sub-Branch conducts a welfare service, operated by volunteers, whose clients include aged and infirm WW2 veterans, unwell ex-service men and women and recently returned from Afghanistan former ADF members. This service provides pensions advocacy and general welfare services, the operating costs of which are not insignificant. If the Club were unable to continue, it would be extremely difficult or impossible to maintain this service. Another factor is a group for whom nobody speaks - the Club staff. Good people doing a great job running the Club very well. In the event of closure, they would all lose their jobs. The current Sub-Branch committee cannot alter the course of events, driven by personal agendas, which led to the decision to evict, but have to deal with the situation as it exists now. It would be a pity if despite their best efforts the Club were to close. Community support can keep it going but recriminations and finger pointing achieve nothing.

CAPRICORN December 23 – January 19 This will be a wonderful week for you under the practical new Moon of Virgo to restructure your social affairs. You will be extremely smart to work your way through obstacles. As usual there may be problems in giving and receiving love, affection, or approval from a friend. Resolutions will act out later. AQUARIUS January 20 – February 19 The new Moon in Virgo actions your sector of collaborative ventures involving money. It warns also against a potential for deception as you must have the patience to wait a day or two in reviewing all options. Your interests, and those of others, may see you doing a side step when you see their self-interest. PISCES February 20 – March 20 There is a fresh perspective on relationships and an honest discussion about your needs. It is wise for you to be the third party in clashes of opinion and size up the energies on both sides of the fence without taking a for or against opinion. Overall the week is excellent with the Virgo energy bringing relaxation. ARIES March 21 – April 20 You are in a week when the change of pace can do wonders for your outlook. Shake up your old routines. Be open to novel ways of having fun. New people whet your appetite! New Moon, in Virgo, signals a fresh start from August 26 in the area of your job and health. Your relationships get serious now.
TAURUS April 21 – May 21 Most Taurus people born around 1970-73 are going to find that from this new Moon week in Virgo, to the first week in September, that there are frustrating relationship developments. You will need to be patient. Any aggressive moves are likely to see people lose their head and seriously hurt themselves. GEMINI May 22 – June 21 Keeping relations harmonious will require a measure of effort or even sacrifice. Over emphasis on your own needs will only lead to rejection as your friends walk away. The Virgo new Moon from August 26 can inspire you or lead you astray. Dream big dreams however, keep your practical feet on the ground. CANCER June 22 – July 22 This may possibly be a week where a sudden windfall might surprise you. You are inspired to seed new strategic thoughts. As the week moves on, reopen pathways to sharing communication. Your emotional radar is drawn to your family environment at this time for the things that make you safe and secure. LEO July 23 – August 22 All the Leo fraternity must be finding that life is getting better or has already improved at a great rate. This is because the early hours of the morning have seen Venus and Jupiter in the Leo sign rising above the horizon before sunrise. All this accents your financial dreams or fantasies. Proceed carefully.

VIRGO August 23 – September 22 The new Moon this week is in your sign and presses a re-start button for all your personal interests. Construct a detailed practical agenda for creating the life you want! You can be confident in looking at travel plans and focus on your own needs and you will be strong, with the intention of securing best deals. LIBRA September 23 – October 22 With the new Moon in Virgo, from August 26, it entices you to rest, retreat and perchance to dream. It is wise not to be overconfident or too sensitive. Pride can be easily hurt under a Virgo criticism, necessitating a need to be mindful of yourself and others. Do some shopping or replace items. SCORPIO October 23 – November 22 With four planets head butting each other from the signs of Leo to Scorpio, commit yourself to controlled discipline to move mountains to reach your creative goals. Some of you may become extremely stubborn so that love and approval are blocked. Don’t forget to listen to your friends who are there to help. SAGITTARIUS November 23 – December 22 When this week opens with the new Moon in Virgo, from August 26, your mind becomes sharp when it comes to getting the job done. Your decision making can prove to be tops. You can afford to be critical of what is proposed to you in new contracts, providing you don’t let emotional passion undermine logic.
