Mothers Day times five
Five generations gather in time for Mother’s Day
By Sonia Clark
Five generations of Desley Hooker’s family recently came together spanning a remarkable age range of more than 100 years.
With the youngest family member Luna just three weeks old and Desley’s mother Mrs Jess Parker a hearty 101, the family members were able to come together just in time for Mother’s Day.
Desley, who has lived in Landsborough for more than 40 years, said that since her mother celebrated her 100th birthday she had been keen to get a picture of the various generations in her family together.
The photo was taken at her daughter Robyn’s property in Glenview and featured Robyn’s daughters Amanda and Hayley and their children Laila, Ryhland and baby Luna.
“I’d been planning to get this photo as a surprise for my mother for some time and so on the Friday before Mother’s Day we were able to finally arrange it,” Desley said.
“We were still able to have a little element of surprise for my mother as she had no idea what we’d planned, and we were all thrilled at how the photo turned out.”
Desley said her mother and father had originally bought about 89 acres of land in Landsborough sometime in the late 1960s/early 1970s.
Desley, a sprightly 75-year-old, explained that she and her husband eventually ended up buying a three-acre corner block off the family property when he retired, and she still lives there today.
The stunning photo was, incredibly, taken on a mobile phone and by all accounts it will provide lasting memories for many years to come.
