Million Paws Walk at Maleny
Paw-tastic day out
Maleny Veterinary Services is hosting a ‘pawtastic’ day at Maleny Showgrounds on Sunday, May 19, in support of two events – the RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk and Paws of Thunder.
Dr Lauren McGrath, from Maleny Veterinary Services, explained that in previous years the surgery had supported the Million Paws Walk and was once again looking forward to hosting the Maleny event for this national fundraiser for the RSPCA.
“This year the Maleny Million Paws Walk will be combined with dog races from the Paws of Thunder event, which has previously been organised by Maleny Veterinary Services and the Maleny Apex Club,” Lauren said.
“We’ll start the day with the community walk raising money for the RSPCA, followed by a small market, dog dress up competitions and dog races. We want people to get out, support a great cause and have fun with their dogs,” she said.
In previous years both of these events have been well attended so organisers are hoping for a stellar turnout for the combined event.
The walk starts on the main oval at the Maleny Showgrounds, then on to Coral St and along the Obi Creek Boardwalk back to the showgrounds.
Registration opens at 8.30am with the walk starting at 9am. Please note that all dogs must be on a lead.
People can register for the Million Paws Walk online now, which is an easy and convenient way to register and pay, as well as saving time. If you prefer you can do it on the day.
Those who love to see their dog all dressed up will want to be there after the walk for the fancy dress competition.
Paws of Thunder will feature a range of race categories including Tiny tackers (dogs under 10kg), Golden oldies (dogs over 10 years of age), the Canine Cup and more. There will also be market stalls, food and refreshments.
