Beerwah Pool Shop
Mitch King, owner of the new pool shop in Beerwah, is enjoying all the interest he’s creating. “As we are in such a prime location on the main street, we’ve had plenty of people stop and look in, eager to know what’s happening in their town,” he said. Mitch, along with his daughter Jess, and friend Madonna, are getting ready to offer Beerwah and surrounds a first-rate pool shop and expert service. After running his own lawn mowing business for several years, surgery forced Mick to rethink his career options. While in recovery, a good friend asked him to assist him on his pool round, and Mitch was hooked! While setting up his own Mountain Creek mobile pool service a year ago, he also listened to feedback and researched what was available in the Hinterland area. Mitch chose Beerwah as it’s such a growing neighbourhood, with the friendliness and beautiful countryside a bonus. “My background includes being a bricklayer as well as a transport manager, plus running my own business, so I’ve managed to tie that experience together with my mobile Mountain Creek pool service to create Beerwah Pool Shop,” he said, “and I have the added support of a friend with 15 years pool servicing and certificating experience, to assist with the mobile side of things too.” The team are pleased to be able to offer the best chemicals on the market, through BioGuard, as well as having well-known Kreepy Krauly and Aussie Gold supplying as well. Mitch, Jess and Madonna have all undertaken recent training on the latest equipment and chemicals available, to make sure they stay up-to-date and can offer the most appropriate advice and service. Mitch adds that with an opening special of 10% discount off everything in store for the whole of August, he invites readers to, “come to my shop, shop locally and give us a go – we can save you money,” he says.

Take matters into your own hands by contacting All Energy HQ today Like the rest of us, David and Christine from Glass House Mountains are concerned about increasing electricity costs. As a retired couple, they want to protect themselves against ongoing rising prices and so have decided to do something about it. They are the first people in the hinterland to install their own energy generation and storage system supplied by local company, All Energy HQ. There's a revolution on its way against electricity utilities and constantly rising energy costs, in the form of energy generation and storage. David and Christine are one of the early adopters with the purchase of their BYD Energy Hub. Living on a modest income, they are looking to protect their future and the effect of rising energy prices on their retirement income. By locking in energy costs, they are protecting their limited income from being eroded every year. This long-term strategy seeks to take back control from big electricity retailers, and to regain energy security. Around the world, the energy storage solution has begun, with predictions of 50% of the domestic market becoming self-sufficient for energy generation and storage by 2030. As people become more self reliant for their energy, electricity generator utilities will be forced to push prices higher and higher every year at
alarming rates as they struggle to maintain the revenue needed to maintain their overheads. Over the next 12 months, electricity retailers in Queensland will introduce, net real-time metering. This means paying much higher prices for electricity in early mornings and evening peak times. With a lesser cost on daytime usage while demand is lower, this will allow a greater opportunity to make even more savings by being self-sufficient for your own electricity generation and capture in your home. David and Christine are a great example of your average electricity consumer. Consider the research and take matters into your own hands by contacting All Energy HQ today.

Give your electricity company the flick Power prices are not likely to stop increasing. As you get older and leave the work force, you may well have difficulty paying your water rates and electricity bills. So you could almost flick the switch on your power bill by adding a BATTERY ENERGY HUB to your EXISTING solar system.
No tripping over the pile
This Energy Hub is not your normal floor covering pile of batteries that gather dust, rubbish and are easy to trip over. No, no … the Energy Hub looks just like an office four drawer filing cabinet and it is on wheels so if you did sell your house, you can wheel it out like the piano and take it with you. Almost EVERY existing solar system can have batteries. The Energy Hub fits almost 100% of existing solar systems and it is a plug and play installation. They just need to be out of the weather.
20 years life – 10 years warranty
Lithium-ion battery cells used in the Energy Hub have a 6000 cycle life. That is the equivalent to charging and discharging for over 16 years, every day and every night and even then, the wear and tear on the batteries has resulted in only a 20% reduction in stored capacity. That is why we say a 20 year life. The way power prices are skyrocketing, you will have it paid for in just a few years and you can almost totally give your power company the FLICK. No deposit finance is available, lease or rental, just like a personal loan at less than 10% interest. Phone one of our trained energy consultants, Leanne or Ian on 5438 7200. Remember at All Energy HQ we have been selling PV solar systems since 1989. We know the industry, the products and we know the manufacturers. We did not join the ‘solar rush’ once a Government Subsidy was offered. We were in solar for 18 years before that.
Leanne Hellmrich joins the All Energy HQ team at Glass House Mountains Leanne is a highly trained and experienced sustainability and energy efficiency consultant. Leanne assesses the power usage of both residential and commercial premises and advises on measures that can be taken which will reduce or shift power consumption.
With the right advice homes and businesses can be empowered to make informed decisions on installing solar power, knowing what savings can be achieved. All Energy HQ has finance options available for small or large home and business owners as an off balance sheet lease or rent, making it possible to pay off the system with the savings from the electricity produced.
This will maximise the benefits of installing solar power and assists you to make significant savings. Leanne holds dual Diplomas in Business and Management, and she has a passion for assisting local home owners and businesses to reduce overheads and increase profitability.

Think … reuse, separate, recycle
In the past when we did home renovations, no one would have batted an eyelid at ripping and smashing apart everything and just tossing the lot into one skip bin, with it all going to the tip to be dumped as landfill. Not any longer. While not every bit of demolition and construction material can – or even should – be recycled, up to 80% of the waste can be reused or recycled. The key to a successful renovation project is to reuse what you can, and recycle the rest. If you already have a lot of good quality materials and fixtures in the structures you’re replacing, there’s no need to destroy them only to purchase and replace them with exactly the same thing. By doing that you’ll not only save yourself good money by not having to buy new materials, you’ll also drastically reduce the amount of material that needs to go into landfill, meaning you’ll save lots more money in tipping fees. And if you can separate out the reusable and recyclable materials before taking it all to the local waste station, they’ll be able to take it to be recycled, or remade into something else, or resold in the recycling market. The Beerwah Resource Recovery Centre will take things like metal items and objects, reusable kitchen and bathroom fixtures and fittings, tiles and roofing iron, windows, doors and fittings, appliances, clean bricks and tiles, and more. The best way to work out what to do, is to talk with the staff, before you start work. They’ll let you know about what you can bring to them that won’t cost you a cent to drop off. And if you go there on a Thursday and Saturday, you’ll be able to have a look at their recycle market and get an idea of the things you may be able to buy from them for your renovation project. Remember – all the proceeds from the recycle market go back into our local community groups and organisations as donations and grants from Beerwah Community Recycling.
rday, Today and Tomorrow e t s e Y r te ng af i k o Lo
Time to clean out, clear up & recycle? Do the right thing! Why not donate those unwanted items to the recycle market? Did you know all profits from the Thursday and Saturday markets help fund local community groups & projects? Why not shop at your local resource recovery centre for your renovation supplies – including bulkier items such doors and sinks, located outdoors at the back of the market. Market operating hours are 9am - 2pm Thursday and Saturday at Beerwah Free mulch available – please contact the centre for information on loading times and delivery (fees may be applicable) Beerwah Resource Recovery Centre is run by Community Recycling Inc., which is a not for profit organisation supporting the local community.

investment will stand the test of time. Alf loves to say that he is “creating the antiques of the future.” Nothing frustrates Alf more than seeing people trying to do a project on the cheap, using a second-hand or flat-packed DIY kit. While being cheaper up front, they will end up costing you more over the long term, as constant fix-ups and possible restorations will be required. Again, Alf says if you are going to do a job, do it right the first time. Everything at A.K. Cabinets is custom-made to the highest quality standard, while keeping within a budget affordable to you. So, make sure you get a professional like Alf from A.K. Cabinets for your next project, whether it be a kitchen, bathroom, office, or piece of fine custom-made timber furniture.

Jaz Build – Sunshine Coast Custom Build Beerwah Electronics We were recently asked by friends to advise them on a plan for a new home. Sue and Steve provided us with a layout of a new build home that contained a large formal room. While it was grand indeed, was it really for them? Sue and Steve sat down and really considered their lifestyle and family needs. As a home is such a major investment, it may be worth talking to a builder direct and having a custom design that suits your individual needs. With our advice, they reevaluated and designed something to better reflect their personalities and lifestyle. Jaz Build is especially interested in helping families to achieve their dream home. We have an experienced design team who will guide you through the planning process and provide step-by-step support. On the Sunshine Coast we have access to glorious weather allowing us great outdoor living. Many new families moving to the area, especially those from colder countries like the UK or Europe, will tell you of the joy of living under blue skies. Some of our clients have made the most of their new lifestyle by adding a gazebo or an alfresco entertaining deck. Glass House Mountains with its magnificent views and world heritage listed conservation area is a well-known secret enjoyed daily by locals. Jaz Build is particularly happy to see local development in Glass House Village with the new Glass House Country Estate and has already spoken with the agent, Kelvin Brady, about future prospects and development. With Glass House Country Estate so well priced and in such a desirable area we are hoping to talk to prospective clients about their dream build. It is an opportunity to create a perfect lifestyle home in this stunning country region. Jaz build believes our local knowledge can provide good information and guidance to help new home builds with the design and building process.
Long term family owned and operated business, Beerwah Electronics, constantly strives to provide their customers with a friendly, helpful and efficient service. Originally opening in Beerwah in 1993 at the back of Retrovision, the business quickly expanded and so owners Garth and Julie relocated to their current shop Garth and Julie from Beerwah position in the Turner Park Shopping Electronics Complex in 1996. Starting his apprenticeship as a radio mechanic back in 1960, Garth brings a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise to the business. Supported by Julie and a team of technicians, the store is the authorised service centre for warranty services and repairs for most major electronic brands such as Samsung, LG, Panasonic and Sharp to name a few. As well as providing repairs (e.g. TV, DVD, VCR, microwaves, remote controls), they also focus on the installation of TV antennas and are always happy to provide service call outs where required. They also carry a large range of AV accessories such as HDMI cables and adaptors for customers wanting to connect existing systems. For the home renovator, Beerwah Electronics specialises in the setting up of the now popular media room which includes installation of home theatre setups, and wall and ceiling mounts for both TV’s and projectors. The recent change in Australian TV frequencies has resulted in an inundation of calls to the business. With over 150 calls to date, and numerous counter enquiries, the staff have been kept busy helping customers with free advice to assist in the retune. For those continuing to experience difficulties in the process or for those who just need some extra help, Garth and Julie have been happy to schedule call outs. Top 3 renovations to add value to your home Home renovations are notorious for going over-budget, so it’s unsurprising that many young families shy away from embarking on these projects. However, not only can renovations make your home more liveable in the short term - they can add value that will eventually help you in the long term. Plus, you don’t have to face the cost of your dream renovation alone. As long as you have equity in your property, you likely won’t have much trouble applying for a construction loan. Although there may be dozens of changes you want to make to turn your first home into your dream home, some renovations are more lucrative in the long run than others, and the outcome of your loan application will
