Maleny Scottish Country Dancing Are you looking for something different this year? Have you thought about Scottish Country Dancing? Word is that it is good exercise and mentally challenging. Classes are held each Monday night and the first night back for 2017 is Monday, February 13, in the Presbyterian Church Hall in Cedar Street, at 7.00pm. Newcomers will be very welcome. The first night is free, so come along and see if you like it. Wear comfortable clothes and soft shoes and you do not need a partner. On Australia Day our club will be participating in the annual Sports Expo at Maleny Showgrounds, with demonstrations of some of the more testing shots in the intellectually and physically stimulating mallet sports. Some of our best players will perform and explain the shots. Although many players

Usually croquet clubs provide coaching – ours has regular sessions in Maleny on Saturday mornings, with the option of arranging other times. Exercise and stay cool When it’s too hot to exercise have you thought about heading along to the Beerwah Pool for an Aqua Aerobics class? Desley Palmer has been teaching Aqua Aerobics classes for the past three years, however she is also a Personal Trainer, a Learn to Swim Instructor, Pilates Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, Rugby Union 7s Coach and Touch Football Coach and Referee. "I love sharing my knowledge in order to help people achieve their personal goals whether they are big or small," Desley says. “I have a great enthusiastic group of men and women who are enjoying the personal gains of aqua aerobics, and there is no stipulation on age or fitness levels, because these classes are tailored for everyone. “These classes are also for the fitness fanatic who wants a variety of cross training in their fitness regime, which is still a fantastic challenge to them and is easier on the body and joints than pounding the concrete." Aqua Aerobics is also a good alternative for the older generation who are looking to stay active in a safe environment and meet new people who are all locals. Participants have a great time in the water, as well as gaining co-ordination, strength and flexibility. Classes are held on Tuesdays at 1.00pm, Wednesdays at 4.00pm and Saturdays at 9.00 am.
