COMING TOGETHER AGAIN: A Celebration of the Return of Live Music

WELCOME BACK! After a year like no other, I’m delighted to announce the return of live, in-person concerts at the Glauser School. I would like to personally invite you to join us for what promises to be an exciting 2021-2022 season. It will feature a full offering of performances from our nearly 30 student ensembles, faculty artists, and visiting guest artists. Over the past year, safety and security for our diverse community have come to the forefront of our priorities. We’ve also been thinking a lot about the patron experience and ways to improve the ticket buying experience. This season, all student and faculty ensemble concerts will be ticketed. Pricing has been simplified to now be just $10 for all adults (19+) and 18s and under remain free. These new prices will apply to all concerts unless otherwise indicated. New subscription packages will allow you to craft your own concert experience. Finally, we’ll be ending the academic year with a concert at Severance Hall. Titled Stories of Peace, Protest, and Reflection, the concert will commemorate the tragic Kent State shootings of May 4, 1970. Detailed information for this special performance, including repertoire and performers as well as ticket pricing and ordering information, will be available in the early fall. The Kent State Orchestra Society celebrates 50 years in 2022 of supporting the student members of the Kent State University Orchestra. STORIES OF PEACE, PROTEST, AND REFLECTION Save the Date: Monday, May 2, 2022 7:00 PM For the first time in over a decade, the Glauser School returns to Cleveland’s Severance Hall presenting a performance titled Stories of Peace, Protest, and Reflection. The concert, a dedication to and commemoration of the tragic Kent State shootings of May 4, 1970, will include performances from the many student ensembles of the School of Music. Several special guests will also be joining to perform alongside the students. Ticket pricing and availability will be announced in the fall semester. From Western Classical and Jazz to the many African and Asian traditions, our nearly 30 ensembles annually welcome over 500 music majors, nonmajors and community members to learn, celebrate and perform the diverse music the world has to offer. Every summer, we host the Kent Blossom Music Festival in partnership with The Cleveland Orchestra to become a center of professional music training for over 40 highly skilled young artists from around the world.
