The Eastern Cape is experiencing the worst drought in decades, and dam levels are at critical lows. There are increased calls for the rapid development and deployment of additional water resources. QFS has developed solutions to provide drinking water to drought-stricken coastal areas.

SKILLS TRANSFER • QFS can operate and maintain the equipment • Municipalities can provide candidates to be trained over three working years • It is recommended that the training extends to 5-10 years to ensure that the process controllers get adequately trained and are therefore able to fully operate and maintain the infrastructure

MONITOR FINAL WATER QUALITY • Water produced exceeds SANS 241:2015 • Water quality is tested every millisecond by means of online analytical equipment • Alarms are triggered if the water quality does not adhere to the quality standards at any point • The plant will automatically shut down until corrective measures are put in place • The process controllers confirm the analytical data by taking samples every hour • A third-party, SANAS-accredited laboratory verifies these samples weekly and monthly
