A robust new offering from the FUSO Trucks stable, the latest-generation TV33-400S 6x4 truck tractor is aimed at the short to medium haul, distribution and construction segments.

Tested within the South African environment, the new FUSO TV33-400S will be assembled at Daimler Truck Southern Africa’s East London manufacturing plant for Southern African distribution. Geared up for local and export markets, the East London facility celebrates 60 years of operation in 2022.

A well-established Daimler Truck brand globally, FUSO offers a comprehensive range of vehicle solutions extending from around 4 to 33 tonnes gross vehicle weight. The FUSO TV33-400S 6x4 falls into the heavy-duty category, with a key focus on power, productivity and fuel efficiency, together with an equal emphasis on driver comfort and safety. In addition to the on-road experience, the cab interior places major emphasis on driver ergonomics, both in terms of the seating configuration as well as the sleeper cab section.

“Southern Africa remains a focus market for FUSO Trucks and the launch of the FUSO TV33-400S 6x4 enables us to field a highly cost-competitive offering across all major segments in the heavy-duty market,” says Maretha Gerber, vice president: Sales and Marketing at Daimler Truck Southern Africa.

Headquartered in Kawasaki, Japan, FUSO Trucks traces its roots back to 1932 and currently fields five truck and two bus product lines in around 170 markets worldwide. Key components and kits for the TV33-400S 6x4 truck tractor sold locally are sourced from Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), based in Chennai. DICV’s Research & Development team at the Chennai plant has also been instrumental in the design and production of the latest rendition of the TV33-400S 6x4.

The FUSO brand first entered the South African market in 2002 and sold 136 units that year. Since then, the offering has expanded significantly to meet all industry requirements in the light, medium and heavy classes. As with any marketing
