A Note From the Partnership

Dear Friends,

Welcome to our Spring-Summer 2022 Classes & Events catalog! We have resumed our pre-pandemic model of publishing two catalogs per year, so this covers March through August 2022. Our catalogs will remain digital-only, which means interactive, more efficient, and easy to register for classes.

We are thrilled to offer some creative new adult arts classes, including Photography: History, Technology, Aesthetics (1830-2022) with Photoworks; Puppetry: Game Night for Adults, and Puppetry for the Camera with the Puppet Co., and a new series of small group Art Clinics and new Printmaking Workshops with Stone Tower Studio.

Enchanting productions from our two award-winning children’s theaters – Adventure Theatre MTC, and the Puppet. Co. – continue in person through the spring and summer, and we welcome the return of Tiny Tots performances at the Puppet Co. for our very youngest audience!

Of course, we can’t talk about Spring-Summer at Glen Echo Park without saying a few words about camps! And if we do say so ourselves, our camps are the perfect way to encourage your budding artist. From Spring Break Camp to Summer Camp programs, there’s something for your aspiring artist or performer.

Spring Break camps are offered from April 11-15 and feature a selection of half-day and full-day camps, such as Spring Break Adventures in Glass; Teen Silversmithing; You Write Rumple: Puppetry Spring Break Camp, and several others (page 7). Summer brings a broad array of camps to the park, in visual arts, performing arts, and nature & aquatic life, from June 20 through August 26. This year will feature some of our favorite camps, as well as some exciting new ones. Your camper may be interested in Adventure Theatre’s two week Summer Musical Theater camp, Glen Echo Park Aquarium’s Sensational Sharks camp; Washington Conservatory of Music’s Intro to Rock Guitar camp; Photoworks’ The Basics of Film Photography for Teens camp – and so much more. We offer an after-camp program, too. We will, of course, adhere to all health and safety protocols to ensure a fun and safe summer! (page 3)

As the Glen Echo Park Partnership celebrates our 20th anniversary of bringing creative and diverse arts and cultural programs to our community and beyond, we hope you will join us for our terrific line-up of Spring and Summer events. These include: Carousel Day (April 30), the 40th annual Washington Folk Festival (June 4&5), the Gala in the Park (May 14), Outdoor Art Marketplace, Summer Concerts, and more!

You can still watch our virtual programming, including online exhibitions, virtual concerts, video-based activities for kids, online activities from our children’s theaters, and more on our YouTube channel. And you can always find out what’s happening on our Stay Connected webpage.

As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the financial support of the community in order to present high-quality, affordable programs. We hope you will join us in supporting the Park with a one-time or monthly donation.

We invite you to create, collaborate, and connect with Glen Echo Park this season!

Stay well and creative,

Katey Boerner, Executive Director
