Stewardship Report
To all of our Glenmary supporters:
THANK YOU Mission ministry is only possible when the Body of Christ works together. Our work would be impossible without you! Thank you for your unwavering support of Glenmary Home Missioners. Jesus sent his disciples out into the world to proclaim the good news with little more than the clothes on their backs, knowing that God would provide all that was needed.
These are but a few of the multitude of blessings that you made happen and will find outlined in this stewardship report. The past year has brought challenges to us all. But among those challenges were acts of kindness, mercy, and hope at every turn.
Today, Glenmary Missioners enter areas with little Catholic Church presence and plant the seeds that mature and grow into loving, thriving faith communities, also knowing that God will provide through generous supporters like you.
Your faith-filled prayer and generosity made a difference to so many who have been seeking God’s presence, yearning for community, or struggling with need throughout the pandemic.
Thank you for being a co-missioner and offering the prayers and resources that have allowed Father Don Tranel to celebrate the first public Mass in Smith County, Tennessee in 222 years; Father Neil Pezzulo to begin a mobile outreach ministry that feeds hungry families; Father Tom Charters to model and nurture the joy of service and faith to middle school children at St. Michael the Archangel parish in Erwin, Tennessee; and Brother Jason Muhlenkamp to provide transitional housing for homeless men, women and families in Blakely, Georgia.
Together we join in thanksgiving for you and your commitment to the home missions. In Christ,
Father Dan Dorsey

We’re thankful for small beginnings. Mass may be in the humblest of settings, but that’s how a mission church begins.
We’re thankful for diversity in our missions. Outreach to Spanish-speaking people is key in our current ministries. Thank you for helping us form unity in the missions.

We’re thankful for YOU! Even when separated by great distances, you are always in our thoughts! We pray for you and your intentions every day.
We’re thankful for new missions. Your support allowed us to establish two new mission counties this past year. Thank you for being a part of the effort to continue sharing the Catholic faith!

Mission fields of rural America
WHERE WE SERVE
Glenmary Home Missioners was founded in 1939 by Father William Howard Bishop, whose vision was for every county in the United States to have a permanent Catholic presence. We follow in his footsteps!
Small Catholic Communities When Glenmary starts a mission, there often are very few Catholics in the community, often less than 1% of the population. We begin our ministries by getting to know the community, sharing that we’re starting a Catholic parish, and inviting others to join. All are welcome!
Wide-Spread Poverty The average poverty rate in our mission counties is 20%, almost double the national average of 12%. Our founder instructed Glenmarians to become the contact for all the poor in a community, because God has a special place in his heart for anyone who is struggling.
Low Faith Affiliation In addition to serving in areas where there aren’t many Catholics, on average only one out of four people in our missions claim any faith affiliation, or church community, at all. Whether in action or word, we try to show all people that God desires relationship with his children.

Reaching God’s children
HOW WE SERVE
Each mission requires a unique ministry approach. We first get to know the people and needs within the community, and then we work to find ways to meet those needs, whether they are spiritual or material in nature.
Sacramental Outreach One of our primary reasons for ministry is bringing access to the sacraments to our missions. Celebrating the sacraments brings us into deeper relationship with God, and empowers us to share the love that we receive with others.
Meeting Practical Needs Serving the practical and material needs of a community is one way we put our faith into action. With food outreach, home repair support, job counselling and more, we reach out to love, support and honor the poor.
Beyond Church Walls No two days are the same in the missions! We lean into the Holy Spirit for guidance on how to serve each day. Along with God’s help, your gifts to Glenmary are what fuel all of these different ministries. Thank you for your faithful giving!

Mission often means going the extra mile! Your support enables our travel to hard-to-reach places to share our Catholic faith, and to be a sign of God’s love to each person we encounter.
Adopt all the people of your mission area as your own. Christ died for every one of them. They are yours because you are his ambassadors. —FR. WILLIAM HOWARD BISHOP, GLENMARY FOUNDER
5 Pillars of Ministry Glenmary is committed to establishing a permanent presence for the Catholic Church, but that’s more than a building. With God’s help, we strive to establish the fullness of Catholic faith.
Catholic Nurture
01
We gather Catholics into eucharistic communities of Word and worship, who are attentive to one another’s spiritual needs.
Ecumenical Cooperation
02
We take seriously Jesus’ prayer that we “all may be one.” We collaborate with other Christians to grow together in living faith.
Social Outreach
04
We minister to people’s needs of food, clothing, shelter and justice, working with other Christians and all people of good will.
9
03
Evangelization of the Unchurched
We develop in our communities a concern for the spiritual welfare of all people, if possible in collaboration with other Christians.
05
Connection to the Universal Church We develop Catholics’ concern for ministry, toward expressing some type of service to Church in deanery, diocese, nation and world.

Your generosity and support
MAKES AN IMPACT The Church is called to share the Good News in faith, sacraments, and in solidarity with the poor. Our missioners gather eucharistic communities and support them in living the Gospel, in reaching out to build unity and promote justice.
29 Priests + 13 brothers serving full-time Because of you, 42 Glenmarians can dedicate their lives to full-time ministry in rural America.
Looking to the future Our membership is growing! Thanks to God’s grace and your faithful support, mission ministry growth continues!
One in five people live in poverty. On average, 20% of the people in our missions are living in poverty with the rate in individual counties as high as 27%. Your gifts show God’s love by helping meet the basic needs of many who are struggling.
