‘On Trial’, the interactive production performed by the sensational Kenya Youth Theatre at MCC was a tremendous success. The one-act drama, played out in a courtroom, where Athena, one of the matriarch elephants in Tsavo National Park, is on trial for murder, having killed a young boy in his mother’s shamba at the edge of the village.

As witnesses were called forward to testify an intricate story unfolded, illustrating the complex and often tragic conflict between communities and wildlife, all too common in areas adjoining National Parks in Africa.

The task of the audience was to decide whether Athena, was guilty of murder or manslaughter, or was she innocent?
Appointed Head Juror MCC Chairman and partner in Coulson Harney LLP Philip Coulson selected a sub jury made up of the numerous children in the audience. The Chairman did a marvelous job and generated a lively discussion with his young adjudicators, who were well aware of the importance of the task entrusted to them.

Halloween Fright Night!
Young Members survived a frightful evening on Hallowe’en full of ghouls, ghosts and haunted horrors. But there were plenty of strong spirits and high jinks to help them through to the Witching Hour.
