Welcome to Global Gaming Expo 2018 World’s premier gaming trade show will deliver sports betting and innovation
A
s new business opportunities emerge for the gaming-entertainment industry, Global Gaming Expo 2018 (G2E) will showcase the latest technologies, newest products and insightful thought leadership centered around the most relevant topics facing today’s industry and that may impact our industry in the future. G2E continues to be the industry hub to highlight innovation, reconnect with other gaming-entertainment professionals, prepare for fast-paced and evolving market changes and find a wide array of tools to enhance business operations. This year, G2E will introduce topics like marketing and analytics, optimizing guest service and experience, growth opportunities in esports, integrated resort development and management, and more. Attendees’ favorite topics, like gaming leadership, security/surveillance and tribal gaming, will also come back with curated new sessions. In May, the Supreme Court struck down the federal law prohibiting states and sovereign tribal nations from licensing or offering sports betting. The decision effectively paves the way for the implementation of legal, regulated sports betting in jurisdictions across the country. There is no better venue to explore the evolving sports betting landscape than at G2E. This year, G2E will host the first-ever Sports Betting Symposium, dedicated to exploring diverse opportunities in this new market. Topics will range from legislative issues to business strategies, including an interactive tour of the G2E show floor to connect attendees with the top suppliers of sports betting technologies and solutions. Sports betting also will be Wednesday’s keynote topic, as AGA Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Slane will lead a lively discussion on the topic with Scott Van Pelt, the anchor of ESPN’s SportsCenter and a vocal advocate for legalized sports betting. keynote, Van Pelt and Slane will discuss the implications of a legalized sports betting market for key stakeholders, such as sports leagues, the media and the gaming industry, and will map out the projected sports betting market in 2019 and beyond. Innovation has always played a pivotal role in G2E, through new product announcements from exhibitors on the show floor. As we strive to offer engaging ways to highlight new and upcoming broader casino-gaming resort solutions, we will promote technology and innovation to complement exhibitors’ announcements at this year’s show. Thursday’s keynote will be the firstever Innovation Incubator at G2E, headlined by FUBU CEO and Founder Daymond John and The Pink Ceiling and Sprout CEO Cindy Eckert (Whitehead). During the keynote event, startups and students will pitch their business ideas for innovations in gaming and hospitality to John and Eckert, as well as a live audience. In addition to the Innovation Incubator, the AGA’s Innovation Lab, now in its third edition, will feature encore and runner-up presentations from startups and students on Thursday during the remaining show hours, as well as TED-talkstyle sessions on big data and analytics, and emerging markets and trends, Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. G2E 2018’s dynamic schedule continues the AGA’s commitment to challenge our industry to think differently about the future of gaming. With this year’s Sports Betting Symposium, interactive expo-hall tours, focus on innovation and the growth opportunities it holds for casino resorts beyond the gaming floor space, I’m confident it will be the best show yet. Stacy Papadopoulos is the interim president and CEO of the American Gaming Association, in addition to her capacity as the AGA’s general counsel and senior vice president of industry services.

Korbi Carrison Event Director, G2E, Reed Exhibitions resented by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and organized by Reed Exhibitions, Global Gaming Expo (G2E) returns to the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas October 8-11 (Education: October 8-11, Expo Hall: October 9-11). G2E’s Event Director Korbi Carrison looks ahead to G2E 2018 and highlights the newest advancements and additions to the show.
P
GGB: Korbi, this is your first year as show director at G2E. Tell us how you expect the show to grow this year. Carrison: The Global Gaming Expo continu-
ously evolves to reflect the growth of our industry, and this year will be no different. The recent repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) opens the door to immense business opportunities for the sports betting industry. We’ve curated G2E’s first-ever Sports Betting Symposium, designed to arm the industry with the knowledge and resources needed to help stakeholders best move forward from business, operational and legislative perspectives. It will be an in-depth exploration of the sports betting industry from all angles. Also new for G2E 2018, we’ve hand-picked entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations within the gaming and hospitality sectors. One addition we are very excited about is the Innovation Incubator at G2E, which will give students, startups and industry veterans the opportunity to pitch their greatest gaming and hospitality ideas to FUBU Founder and CEO Daymond John, as well as The Pink Ceiling and Sprout CEO Cindy Eckert (Whitehead). The winning presentation, dubbed the Shark’s Choice, will be awarded a cash prize, as well as a complimentary booth at G2E 2019 to showcase their technology. The audience will vote for a second prize, the Customer’s Choice, which will also receive a complimentary booth at G2E 2019. Other innovators will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas at the AGA’s Innovation Lab in the expo hall. 8
G2E PREVIEW 2018
We recently saw a nice increase in exhibit space and attendance at G2E Asia in Macau, which is also organized by Reed Exhibitions. Will G2E have a similar increase in 2018?
The success of this year’s G2E Asia is the latest example of the growing popularity and awareness of the Global Gaming Expo brand around the world. G2E is the marquee event for operators and manufacturers to grow their businesses. While the exhibitor and attendee bases for G2E and G2E Asia differ somewhat, we have seen an increase in the exhibit space booked at G2E, and attendance is trending to surpass previous years. Sports betting was a big part of the show last year and will of course be important this year. What do you have planned in this area?
We are very excited to have confirmed ESPN’s SportCenter anchor, Scott Van Pelt, as a keynote speaker on Wednesday, October 10 at 9 a.m. The interview-style discussion, led by AGA’s Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Slane, will focus on the implications of a legalized sports betting market for key stakeholders, such as sports leagues, the media and the gaming industry, following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn PASPA in May. Additionally, this year will be the industry’s debut of the Sports Betting Symposium at G2E, which will bring together the world’s foremost experts and business leaders to provide a specific vision for the future. Indian gaming has always been a big part of the G2E conference program. What are you doing to ensure that tribal government gaming remains an important element of the show?
Tribal gaming is a vital part of the gaming industry. A core focus for this year’s show is supporting the development of tribal gaming enterprises and addressing their unique business needs. An entire educational track—organized in partnership with NIGA—is dedicated to discussing how the biggest
topics in the gaming industry will impact tribal casinos. With the legalization of sports betting, we created an education session specifically to address the impact on tribal casinos with “Sports Betting: The Path Forward for Indian Country.” I also recommend everyone attend the “Tribal Leadership Roundtable,” where the leaders of the tribal sector will engage in a compelling discussion of the most important issues of today. Tell us about the interactive tools that G2E is offering to assist both exhibitors and attendees to get the most out of the show that they can.
We recommend the show’s pre-show planning tool, My Show, which is available on the G2E website and on the G2E mobile app. Not only does it allow users to build out a schedule, but it will also recommend custom exhibitors to visit and education sessions to attend based on your registration profile and what you are looking to achieve at G2E. The G2E show floor is the most impressive in the industry in its focus on all members of the industry, including non-gaming. Tell us how that’s going to benefit the attendees and exhibitors.
The gaming industry has evolved as casino patrons increasingly demand an integrated resort experience worldwide. To continue to discover new revenue streams and engage with new audiences, it is important for gaming operators to begin thinking about non-gaming entertainment such as esports, expanding food and beverage programs, spa offerings, and more. We want to give the gaming industry the tools to make the right partnerships that are a perfect fit for each individual operator. With such a dynamic plan for this year’s G2E, what does this say about the growth and health of the casino industry and its largest trade show and conference?
As the casino industry grows and evolves, so does G2E. The industry is in a very exciting time where innovation is at an all-time high. G2E looks to meet that passion by giving those ideas the opportunity to shine, which has led to one of the most dynamic programming schedules we’ve ever put together for the show. The possibilities for the gaming industry in 2018 are endless, and it all begins at G2E.

Standard
Operating Procedure GSA standards empower casino operators By Mark Pace
T
he Gaming Standards Association (GSA) is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Over those two decades, and through the efforts of volunteers from its member companies, GSA has created gaming industry standards that are being used worldwide. However, even as GSA standards are being mandated by regulatory authorities in many countries, utilization in the United States has stagnated. As part of its 20th anniversary activities, GSA has launched a casino operator educational campaign, aimed at reintroducing GSA standards to operators and with a goal of reinvigorating adoption and utilization. This campaign started with a roundtable discussion with a small number of current and former casino operators, and a candid discussion of the issues and challenges that they faced—and an equally candid review of whether GSA standards could help address them. The meeting was eyeopening, and all participants agreed that GSA needed to do more to educate operators—and not just slot operations, but also IT and marketing—on the value they could derive from GSA standards. A second, larger roundtable was held a few months later with operators from around the U.S. The discussion focused predominantly on the game to system (G2S) protocol that connects electronic gaming machines (EGMs) to casino management systems (CMS). As the meeting progressed, it became clear that operators had very little information of how G2S could be deployed, which suppliers had implemented G2S, and how IT and marketing could also benefit from a G2S-based slot floor. As a result of these meetings, GSA interviewed operators in North America who had deployed G2S to understand from their perspective why G2S was better, whether it had addressed operational needs, and what impediments they encountered as they sought to implement G2S. These very
candid interviews provided incredible insights, which GSA is now planning to share with other operators.
System Side GSA learned that the operators implementing G2S had very successful conversions, and that in their words, the technology was solid and, both on the CMS and EGM side, things had never been as stable as they are now. As expected, these operators were taking advantage of the additional EGM data that G2S enables and which other protocols do not. Equally important, they have a greater level of transparency of the data being communicated between the EGM and CMS. Simple but time-consuming tasks, like progressive reconciliations, are now automated through G2S with greater accuracy and with minimal labor expense. Some of the operators had implemented peripheral devices using the GSA Game Device Standard (GDS). One of the functions enabled by GDS is the ability to download bill validator and printer firmware. This one capability was providing significant operational benefits and helping to eliminate regulatory and operational risk by quickly and accurately replacing obsolete or revoked firmware. As one operator put it, the operational efficiencies resulting from the use of G2S and GDS were saving them millions of dollars across their organization. The marketing groups of operators deploying the Player User Interface (PUI) picture-in-picture on-screen player messaging functionality were also seeing significant benefits. This functionality has improved player communication and expedited the delivery of marketing messages via the EGM’s main screen. Now campaigns could be created and deployed quickly across the casino floor.
As part of its 20th anniversary activities, GSA has launched a casino operator educational campaign, aimed at reintroducing GSA standards to operators and with a goal of reinvigorating adoption and utilization. 10

The information technology groups were also seeing benefits from operating a truly networked floor. As one operator said, “The networked slot floor needs to be managed by IT while the purchasing, pricing and placement (and operational) decisions are still made by slots.” IT can use the same tools and processes to manage the slot floor network, improving security and operational uptime. IT has also been instrumental in automating tasks that can help troubleshoot individual EGM connectivity to CMS, and in many cases being able to remotely resolve those issues in minutes instead of hours. Additionally, they have been able to extract data that can only be provided by the G2S protocol, providing it to slot analysts for more complete analytical capabilities. This is just a small sample of the benefits that the operators shared with GSA. However, they also spoke of the challenges they had in deploying G2S. The challenges can be broadly categorized into knowledge and interoperability buckets.
Learning the Ropes
It was clear from the information provided by operators using GSA standards that these standards are providing an extremely compelling value proposition that is by far exceeding even their own initial expectations.
Operators described the lack of knowledge their suppliers’ sales staffs had with regards to G2S. In some cases, sales staff had no idea that their companies were selling EGMs using G2S in other jurisdictions. Operators tend to let suppliers drive the technology-related decisions because slot operators tend to operate in silos, and the knowledge and expertise of other groups such as IT and marketing is often not considered. Perhaps most significantly, and applicable to both operators and supplier sales staff, is that “they don’t know what they don’t know.” The lack of knowledge with regards to GSA standards, where they have been implemented, by whom and what the benefits are, is staggering, and is creating, as one GSA staffer calls it, “a technology backwater” in parts of the U.S. Interoperability challenges stem from the fact that the industry has not adopted a single tool to ensure that, for example, G2S implementations are identical on the EGM and CMS sides and across suppliers. The result is that differences in the implementations cause interoperability issues. These are most frequently addressed by tweaking the EGM program12
G2E PREVIEW 2018
ming to work with a specific CMS. However, the result is that there are several “unique” EGM G2S operating system versions instead of a single standard. The fact that GSA has created a Certification and Validation Tool (CVT) is largely unknown to operators. In addition, suppliers seeking competitive advantages are enhancing G2S and creating proprietary extensions which are protected via non-disclosure agreements. These extensions, while innovative and adding value, are counter to the idea of a standard.
Wrap Up
It was clear from the information provided by operators using GSA standards that these standards are providing an extremely compelling value proposition that is by far exceeding even their own initial expectations. These operators, working in conjunction with other groups within their organizations, see the value for the organization, and not just slot operations. The lack of knowledge is a significant barrier to adoption of GSA standards. Operators who do make the decision to implement G2Sbased products, but who do not demand that G2S products be tested via the CVT to ensure sameness, run into interoperability issues. Suppliers’ sales staffs are focused on selling the EGMs that have the best math, that are exceeding “house average” and are not at all equipped to discuss technology. In conclusion, for operators to leverage their investment, they need to learn and to be part of the only organization that is working on furthering innovation and transparency and seeking to create change that will benefit the operators (industry domain) as well as the regulators (policy domain).
Mark Pace has over 35 years of gaming industry experience, mostly with Harrah’s Entertainment properties and corporate. He later joined WMS Gaming and then Scientific Games after the acquisition of WMS. After 12 years with WMS/ Scientific Games, he formally joined the Gaming Standards Association as the managing director of GSA Europe in 2017. Pace has spent more than a decade working with GSA, and divides his time between Europe, working with the European Committee for Standardization, and the U.S. working with regulatory authorities and operators to further standards in the gaming industry.

he legalization of sports betting by the U.S. Supreme Court decision in May has unleashed a tsunami of interest in sports betting from the U.S. gaming industry. From land-based sports books to lottery to mobile, sports betting has moved to the top of the agenda for casinos. And G2E is leading the way with a Sports Betting Symposium that will be kicked off by a keynote discussion with the lead anchor for ESPN’s SportsCenter, Scott Van Pelt. With the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), the failed federal ban on sports betting, jurisdictions can now decide if legalized, regulated sports betting is right for them. What are Sara Slane • Senior Vice the implications for key stakeholdPresident of Public Affairs, ers—such as sports leagues, the AGA media, the gaming industry, and more—and what does the landscape look like in 2019 and beyond? The interview-style discussion, led by AGA’s Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Sara Slane, will focus on the implications of a legalized sports betting market for key stakeholders following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn PASPA. Van Pelt and Slane, who led AGA’s efforts to pave the way for legalized sports betting, will also map out the projected sports betting landscape for 2019 and beyond. “From the start, Scott Van Pelt was one of the first to give attention to the potential benefits of a legal, regulated sports betting market in the United States,” says Slane. “Now that more jurisdictions across the country have begun offering sports betting, there could be no better time to hear his insight on the evolving state of play and the overarching benefits from this new sector of the American gaming industry.”

E
very year, there are thousands of ideas to improve the gaming industry, whether it’s a new slot machine or table game, or simply a way to enhance technology to elevate the casino experience. And for most of these innovators, the idea doesn’t go any farther, because the path to market is so rocky and fraught with dangers—and expense. This year, G2E will try to alleviate that. The show is offering a chance for gaming industry startups, students and inventors to pitch their ideas and innovations in a setting based on the popular
TV show Shark Tank. G2E will host one of the stars of the ABC/CNBC series, FUBU founder and CEO Daymond John, to serve as a judge along with Cindy Eckert, founder of The Pink Ceiling and CEO of Sprout, as contestants present their creations before a live audience at the G2E Innovation Incubator on October 11. The two will select a winner, the “Shark’s Choice,” who will receive $10,000 and a complimentary 10-foot-by-10-foot booth to showcase their product at the 2019 show. A panel of gaming industry experts will select four finalists from the list of submissions to present their concepts to John and Eckert, where they’ll submit to a fast-paced question-and-answer session as the two business leaders look to explore each of the opportunities. The finalists will compete in four categories: gaming floor innovation;

There also will be a second-place “Customer’s Choice” winner, selected by the audience, who also will receive complimentary exhibit space at the 2019 show. Six additional runners-up, chosen by the panel of experts, will be able to present their ideas throughout the day on October 11 at the AGA’s Innovation Lab on the main show floor. “The contest builds off the Global Gaming Expo’s commitment to featuring the newest technologies in the market,” says Allie Barth, vice president of industry relations for the American Gaming Association, co-producer of the show. “We’re excited to bring the business ideas of students and startups to the forefront through this new event.” John, best-known for building urban clothing line FUBU into a $6 billion business, is in his eighth season as a Shark Tank regular. Eckert has headed venture capital and consulting firm The Pink Ceiling since 2016 and has personally invested $15 million across 10 different health technology companies at various stages of development.

in Review 12 Top AGEM success stories since G2E 2017 By Tom Nieman and Marcus Prater
1: AGEM and its Members Step Up
AGEM worked with the AGA on the G2E and G2E Asia events and with the European Casino Association on ICE, the International Casino Conference and the European Dealer Championship. AGEM also partnered on other issues and events with a wide variety of other industry associations, including the Gaming Technologies Association, Gaming Standards Association, International Masters of Gaming Law, the International Association of Gaming Advisors, the Nevada Resort Association and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.
2: AGEM Gaming Census
6: Responsible Gaming
The organization anchored by the big slot companies published the first AGEM Gaming Census in partnership with Eilers & Krejcik Gaming. The information in the census covers market-share slot data in a variety of categories and also includes updates on live and electronic table games and casino management systems. Future efforts will focus on increasing the sample size of roughly 370,000 North American units included in this first census.
3: Business-First Commitment AGEM signed off on the “business-first commitment” originally created by the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions to reinforce the importance of professionalism at G2E. The pledge came after ICE organizers were forced to deal with companies who crossed the line with their marketing efforts and were exposed by the tabloid media at the annual show in London.
4: Focus on New International Markets AGEM cultivated contacts and relationships on the ground in Brazil and Japan as both countries continued to debate the idea of legalized gambling. In Brasilia, AGEM sponsored the first Brazil Legislators’ Day. In Tokyo, AGEM attended the Japan Gaming Congress after previously providing specific input to the IR Promotion Committee formed to outline the enabling legislation aimed at bringing casinos to the country. Ultimately, Japan is moving forward with casinos while Brazil remains stalled. 22
5: Industry Cooperation
The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers tried to do its part to help ease the pain caused by multiple events that impacted gaming states and ultimately hit home in Las Vegas. Following the powerful impact of Hurricane Harvey on Texas and the Houston area and Hurricane Irma in Florida, AGEM contributed $25,000 to three relief agencies assisting those impacted. On the eve of G2E on October 1, the Las Vegas mass shooting left the gaming industry reeling. AGEM responded with a $50,000 contribution to the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund and challenged its members to add to that total—and they did, with $130,000 more for a total of $180,000 from suppliers as the fund ultimately reached $31 million.
G2E PREVIEW 2018
The AGEM Board approved the contract renewal of AGEM Director of Responsible Gaming Connie Jones, and she had a very active year as AGEM continued to financially support a wide variety of organizations dedicated to responsible gaming initiatives, including the National Center for Responsible Gaming, the National Council on Problem Gambling, the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling, the Problem Gambling Center in Las Vegas and GamCare in the United Kingdom. As a specific example, the annual AGEM-AGA Golf Classic presented by JCM Global—with the 20th anniversary event taking place at famed Shadow Creek—raised a record $228,000 for the NCRG.
7: Variable-Payback/Skilled-Based Gaming What has become known as “skill-based gaming” continues to evolve, with a focus initially on Nevada and its New Innovation Beta (NIB) program, along with New Jersey and tribal locations. AGEM provided specific input on proposed regulations in New Jersey, which created a category separate from its slot machine regulations, and to New South Wales as Australia, among other countries, begins to consider this new form of gaming.
p. 22 Agem:Layout 1 8/9/18 3:26 PM Page 23
8: Commitment to Education
11: AGEM Mexico Committee
AGEM continues to fund the AGEM Scholarship through the American Indian College Fund, highlighting a busy 12 months focused on the educational component in its mission statement. In addition to supporting Indian Country, AGEM has funded scholarships or contributions to the Lee Business School at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada State College, the Global Gaming Women Charitable Education Fund, Atlantic Cape (New Jersey) Community College, the International Center for Gaming Regulation at UNLV, the UNLV Center For Gaming Innovation, Las Vegas Discovery Children’s Museum and Spread the Word Nevada.
Along with operator-dominated trade groups APPJSAC and AIEJA, AGEM worked with regulatory agency SEGOB on updated language governing gaming in Mexico. The AGEM Mexico Committee represents all of the member companies that serve the overall Mexican market and was actively involved in creating the content for the First National Convention on the Gaming Industry that took place in Mexico City last October.
9: Regulatory Reform AGEM has an introductory relationship with the nascent U.S. State Gaming Regulators Forum and has been participating in the AGA’s NextGen Working Group dedicated to general regulatory reform, and had specific interaction providing direct input to regulators in Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Maryland, Michigan, Mexico and Macau, among other markets.
12: AGEM Officers January brought an updated officer team as the AGEM Board of Directors approved the slate presented of President Tom Nieman, JCM Global; Vice President David Lucchese, Everi; Vice President Luke Orchard, IGT; Vice President Robert Parente, Scientific Games; Secretary Mark Dunn, Aristocrat; Treasurer Tom Jingoli, Konami; and General Counsel Daron Dorsey, Ainsworth. Tom Nieman (l.) is president of the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers and vice president of worldwide marketing at JCM Global. Marcus Prater is executive director of AGEM. AGEM is a nonprofit international trade association representing manufacturers and suppliers to the gaming industry.
10: AGEM Memorial Awards At G2E in Las Vegas in 2017, AGEM revealed the second winners of the Jens Halle Memorial Award Honoring Excellence in Commercial Gaming Professionalism—longtime Bally employee and current Novomatic Americas CEO/President Rick Meitzler—and the Peter Mead Memorial Award Honoring Excellence in Gaming Media & Communications—Casino Journal and Casino Player cofounder and current Global Gaming Business Publisher Roger Gros.

uest satisfaction often depends on the timeliness and work quality performed by services staff. STAX Progressive Solution AGS • Booth 1253 GS is “obsessed with the game,” and fanatical about anything that A makes the game more thrilling for players. At G2E 2018, AGS will showcase STAX, its groundbreaking new table-game progressive solution. STAX offers five multi-level progressive jackpots, including a large and life-changing top award, any of which can be won with an optional side bet. A Must-Hit pool, which displays the Mystery Must-Hit Progressive Declared Value to players, adds anticipation and excitement as the jackpot grows. The STAX dynamic, double-sided display features light-up bet sensors and a table-style dealer interface for prominent viewing by the player and ease of integration into the casino pit. This uniquely customizable innovation in table-game progressive solutions links up to five progressive pools across the game floor, setting it apart from other table progressives which typically only offer three progressive pools. It also features a reserve concept for each pool, thus enabling built-up reserves to contribute to reseed values. Adding up to five levels enables a single game theme to be both lifechanging and, at the same time, deliver smaller, more frequent jackpot awards to keep players in their seats. The high-level jackpots can reach more than $100,000, while the lower-level pools offer higher-frequency hits on the same table. Since all five pools are progressive pays, player excitement and engagement are higher than under a fixed paytable solution. STAX also offers a significantly unique concept to table-game progressive systems—the ability to incorporate a Mystery Must-Hit pool— driving player excitement and anticipation. Other features include customizable automated tiered contribution rates as meter values increase, thus building up healthy reserves. STAX

also includes a web-based reporting and configuration platform, enabling detailed data accessibility across a casino enterprise. Because players are required to wager an additional side bet to win the progressive, they will invest more in the game—driving casino revenue. And STAX creates tremendous excitement, generating an “if you don’t play, you can’t win” mentality and building dramatic player anticipation as the jackpots increase and the “Must-Hit” promises potentially large rewards. AnyBet AINSWORTH GAME TECHNOLOGY • BOOTH 1259

nyBet from Ainsworth has created buzz at Class II gaming properties around the country. The new Class II linked progressive jackpot has been spotted in Oklahoma, Indiana, Arizona, Louisiana, Washington and beyond. Soon it will be seen even more, as installations are scheduled in most major Class II markets. AnyBet offers every player on a casino floor the chance to win life-enhancing jackpots. No matter the line count or bet level, anybody can win with AnyBet, thanks to patent-pending bingo card technology from Ainsworth. Additionally, AnyBet jackpots have been configured to hit at a higher frequency than many competitors’ products. The Silver Link version, available for 25- and 30line games, resets at $5,000 and $250. The Gold Link version, available for 40- and 50-line games, resets at $10,000 and $500. “The players have really picked up on it,” says Ainsworth Director of Marketing and Product Management Mike Trask. “AnyBet was a real winner for
everyone involved. The players will like it, definitely the casinos will like it as the revenues are increasing, and the popularity of the game looks good.” The link can be placed on dozens of Ainsworth game titles available on the A600, A560 and A560 SL Noir cabinets—including proven performers like Action Dragons, Rumble Rumble Bison, Dragon’s Heat, China Gold, Rumble Dragon and Rampaging Bull. At minimum bet, players have one chance to win the top AnyBet jackpots. As players bet up, they get more and more chances to win AnyBet prizes. For instance, on a 50-credit minimum game, a player wagering 50 credits would receive one additional bingo card to compete for an AnyBet Jackpot. If that player wagered 100 credits they would get two progressive bingo cards; and at a 500-credit bet, would have 10 chances to win the AnyBet Jackpot. For more information, visit agtslots.com.
Roll to Win Craps ARUZE GAMING • BOOTH 2659 oll to Win Craps is a semi-autonomous craps game where players throw live R dice onto a table-length LED display. Aruze Gaming uses proprietary technology that allows players to visualize all game play on a table surface that mimics the felt feel familiar to traditional players. Operators will be able to choose a traditional look for their playing field, or a variety of eye-catching animations for a more youthful player base. The integration of bill acceptors, ticket printers and player tracking make this product straddle the line between traditional table games and full ETGs, and the table boasts terminals for up to 10 players at a time. The player terminals are equally spaced around the table, recreating the same feeling of camaraderie, player interaction and shared thrills of a regular craps table. All bets are placed electronically on 21.5-inch LCDs, and each bet is immediately reproduced in an animation as the bets show up on the layout. Players will likely be familiar with the betting layout, which follows Aruze’s popular Shoot to Win Craps electronic table game. Additionally, a help menu targeted toward novice craps players will help guide those players new to the game. One live dealer is required to entertain the players, but traditional staffing needs are reduced from three to one, depending on property and regulatory policies. As the shooter throws the dice, the dealer gathers the dice and is responsible for electronically entering the result of the roll on a dealer terminal. When the dealer enters the roll, all information is instantly displayed on all player terminals and on the digital layout, payouts are made, and the history of the game is refreshed and made visible on an LED wall inside the game and on a 46-inch vertical LCD monitor. The electronic betting and layout features allow the dealers to focus on customer service, stickwork and oversight of player actions. Additional benefits
include reduced time between rolls, enhanced game security, and the potential for increasing rolls per hour. Another major benefit of the product is the ability to offer advertising space on the table. An LED wall has been designed along the interior of the table where operators can choose to advertise internal events, promotions, restaurants, shopping, shows and anything else desired. Or, an operator can choose to bring in external advertising, or swap between advertising and game history as desired on the LED wall. Roll to Win Craps is a premium product created to elevate the casino table environment. Its innovative display features and functionality invite core players to experience a visually captivating way to play traditional craps. For more information, visit aruzegaming.com.

GlobalSuite v2.0 CASINO DATA IMAGING • BOOTH 3659
C
asino Data Imaging just released version 2.0 of the user-friendly business intelligence tool GlobalSuite. The changes are an evolution, more than a revolution, and the updates make what was special about GlobalSuite even better. The most noticeable change was the complete overhaul of the 3D models. Gone are the generic upright and slant slot machines. Now, there are more than 50 new slot machine and table models. The new models take the form of the actual machines for sale by the major slot manufacturers. They look like the real machines—IGT’s CrystalCurve Ultra has two beautifully curved screens in an elegant package; the massive Scientific Games TwinStar V75 stands out because of its imposing size and its gently sloping frame. CDI says the new models not only look great, but they require very little graphical power to process. Most modern computers should have no problem rendering the floor, even without a graphics card. The improvements to GlobalSuite continue through the floor visualization. One example is easier access for performance color coding of slot machines and tables. Predefined selections are now stored in templates, so users can quickly cycle from one analysis to the next. UI updates were spread throughout the interface. The ribbon was populated by tiered dropdowns in version 1.0. To make the process more intuitive, version 2.0 removed all the dropdowns and replaced them with a pure ribbon, just like any Microsoft product. The buttons were also reorganized into the primary tasks with floor visualization: “Analysis” for daily tasks and “Layout” to update the map, etc. It’s straightforward and fast. Many more changes were packed into this major update of GlobalSuite. Those updates all fall into two categories: making the product easier to use, such as the addition of templates; and making the software more approachable, with the complete remake of the 3D models. CDI has shown with version 2.0 they understand their customers and how they use the product. Casino Data Imaging’s commitment to frequent updates means the software will continue getting better every year. CDI invites attendees to see their latest GlobalSuite developments at Booth 3659. more gratification and a better experience for every potential guest. Hospitality’s only Revenue Strategy Platform enables the kind of personalized loyalty pricing that rewards every customer—gamers and nongamers alike—with a rate that recognizes that guest’s total contribution to the property’s bottom line. Duetto’s flagship application GameChanger leverages open pricing and cutting-edge analytics to generate customized prices, but the power that makes those rates actionable in any casino is the Duetto Rate Engine (DRE). DRE is an integral part of the Revenue Strategy Platform, delivering real-time rates and availability through an open REST API for any rate code or promo code, room type, group block or member ID.
Casino partners using GameChanger to leverage open pricing and offer personalized rates rely on DRE to serve up those rates anywhere customers can book a room direct, especially the online booking engine and the call center. But DRE distributes more than rates and inventory. Users of Duetto’s personalization application PlayMaker can customize merchandising like sort order results, packages and promotions. DRE is the vehicle to deliver these “plays” to a potential guest shopping a casino’s website or ringing its call center. With DRE powering GameChanger and PlayMaker, casinos can run split tests of pricing, promotions and other plays for both known and unknown guests and analyze which plays result in the highest conversion rates and biggest lift in revenue and profit. Duetto also allows third-party providers to integrate directly with the Revenue Strategy Platform using the DRE API, so other tech vendors will be able to call up a casino’s personalized rates, packages and room types. Find Duetto at Booth 4000 to see how DRE powers GameChanger, PlayMaker and the rest of the Revenue Strategy Platform. For more information, visit DuettoCloud.com/Casino.

E
clipse Gaming is boosting player excitement and the chance to win with Super Slots of Cash-Bull Booster, the newest theme in Eclipse’s highly successful 10X Wild Multiplier series. The new three-reel, one-line game with visually appealing oversized symbols, Super Slots of Cash-Bull Booster adds an innovative twist to game play with the Bull Booster re-spin feature. Bull Booster is unique in that no additional wager is required to initiate the feature, allowing players to supercharge their winnings. The adrenaline-inducing Bull Booster retriggers the third reel, providing the player with a second chance to win or the opportunity to claim a bigger award. The Bull Booster feature respins the third reel following a close call, giving players another attempt to hit a winning payline. In many situations when the Bull Booster initiates, the player has already been awarded a win, but would have won a larger amount if the third reel’s winning symbol aligned with the first two reels. A single, free re-spin is triggered by the Bull Booster and the winnings of that respin will never be less than what the player won before the re-spin. Super Slots of Cash-Bull Booster draws from the same winning strategies as Super Slots of Cash and Mermaid Multipliers—both premier themes in the 10X Wild Multiplier series. All games in the 10X Wild Multiplier franchise combine a casino’s need for an authentic three-reel, one-line game that delivers the rich math and volatility that gamblers want in an easy-to-play game that also appeals to the casual player. Featuring five unique Wild Multipliers that generate rewarding wins up to 10X and the Bull Booster feature, Super Slots of Cash-Bull Booster is available on the Saros cabinet, complete with 1080p HD graphics and dual 27-inch wide-screen displays. Super Slots of Cash-Bull Booster drives anticipation and will have players chasing for the Bull Booster re-spin. Testing and Emulation Program GAMING LABORATORIES INTERNATIONAL • BOOTH 4430
T
he complexity of today’s modern gaming devices is increasing exponentially, and requires new and even more innovative ways to test for myriad variables without sacrificing productivity, efficiency and accuracy. GLI’s automated Testing and Emulation Program is a unique and propriety automated testing methodology that builds on GLI’s quality, accuracy and speed, provides new layers of testing consistency, and further speeds time to market. This program was developed in-house by a team of engineers who were exclusively assigned to the project. Working closely with suppliers worldwide over the past four years, GLI engineers created its new test automation process that further increases testing quality, and performs even better tests. GLI successfully integrated the new automated testing process on several supplier platforms, with many more in development. Test automation is already proving to be a valuable tool for testing increasingly complex and sophisticated gaming devices more thoroughly, efficiently and accurately. Test automation has a positive impact on project turnaround time and dramatically increases the percentage of game-play coverage and game mechanics that can be tested. Moreover, because it runs 24/7 with little or no human supervision required, efficiencies run beyond the typical business day and span every time zone. Using testing automation, suppliers are able to take full advantage of a 24/7 testing process, and potential development errors are discovered in the safety of the lab, and not on the casino floor. Further, when suppliers use GLI’s testing automation, they have the added revenue potential of being able to sell into the jurisdictions that accept GLI testing results. GLI is the only independent test lab that can take suppliers everywhere, because GLI is the only independent test lab licensed in every jurisdiction that takes ITL results.

The Metro Sportsbook Seating
GAMECO LLC • BOOTH 5034

I
t G2E 2018, GameCo LLC will be launching its latest product innovation, the A Multiplayer Challenge Mode for the Video Game Gambling Machines (VGM). The revolutionary new multi-player system will allow up to 64 players (eight players at launch) to compete in video-game gambling competitions on the casino floor. Complete with a leaderboard system for tracking results and payouts, the Multiplayer Challenge Mode brings a true esports-style experience to land-based casinos. As an expansion of GameCo’s patented VGM platform, the Multiplayer Challenge Mode expands GameCo’s game library to support both single- and multi-player gaming. Similar to classic arcades and modern console games, VGMs running the Multiplayer Challenge Mode allow players to choose single-player or multi-player gambling, ensuring every gamer enjoys their preferred experience. Everything from action and fighting games to sports, racing and casual games will now be supported in multi-player competition formats. The platform expansion works with existing casino management systems and allows operators to configure important settings such as bet denominations, commission and other administrative features. Launching in Q1 2019, GameCo’s Multiplayer Challenge Mode delivers entirely new styles of gambling, from head-to-head battles to large-scale tournaments while running on existing GameCo VGM hardware. The first game to support the new Multiplayer Challenge Mode will be GameCo’s “Gen 3” version of “Nothin’ but Net 2”—a fast-paced, realistic 3D basketball game. The user experience is streamlined to attract a broad audience; the first player sets the bet amount, all other players ante into the competition, then everyone battles for the highest score. All players have the opportunity to achieve the same outcome, with each player’s skill determining their actual score and standing in the competition and cash winnings. In the case of a tie, those players go into “overtime” in a sudden-death showdown. The winner receives the pot minus the casino rake. Future games supported by GameCo’s Multiplayer Challenge Mode will include SoulCalibur II: Casino Edition (fighting game) from Bandai Namco, Steve Aoki’s Neon Dream (infinite runner), and The Secret Temple (Match-3 game).

One many standout systems products is IGT’s M5. Building on the success of IGT’s Media Manager, M5 is IGT’s latest version of the proven media display solution. M5 enables operators to leverage a slot machine’s Service Window to showcase bonuses, loyalty programs and promotions, and to give players access to a variety of options such as booking a dining reservation, ordering a drink and more. Currently deployed at multiple casinos throughout the U.S. including Las Vegas-based Station Casinos, M5 enables customers to operate exciting floor-wide promotions such as Station Casino’s Big Time Bonus. Additionally, M5 enables operators to deliver highly personalized player communications and promotions, advertise amenities, and promote property-wide events directly to the player. Synkros: SynkConnect/True Time Windowing
PayCheck NextGen Printer
Konami Gaming • Booth 1154
NANOPTIX • BOOTH 2036
onami Gaming, Inc. is focused on enhancing player convenience, ingame marketing and branded loyalty program touchpoints during this year’s G2E. Its award-winning Synkros casino management system is introducing a number of leading advancements to empower casino operators with the latest systems tools to benefit their business and their customers. SynkConnect is a new “cardless” player tracking convenience set for its G2E debut this fall. This touchless, multi-channel solution empowers casino players with a variety of secure methods to augment or replace a traditional player loyalty card at the EGM, including their personal mobile device, fobs, a room key and more. SynkConnect helps open up more opportunities for players to connect and engage with property loyalty programs by combing Near Field Communication (NFC) through a card reader. For mobile cardless connection, players simply tap a personal smartphone device at the zone of the card reader bezel and the card reader changes color to indicate blue for inactive/uncarded connection, green for successful active connection, or red for misread/failed connection. SynkConnect helps transform how casino players connect and engage with the casino’s loyalty program using the technology conveniences already interlaced through their daily life and the guest experience. With more new ways for players to connect, SynkConnect helps eliminate barriers caused by dependence on traditional loyalty cards and increase “carded” play activity through a number of convenient methods of authentication. This year, Konami’s next-generation True-Time Windowing technology will also be showcased live at G2E with portrait and HD screen compatibility, as well as web services that allow operators to bring any HTML-based site or program to video slot screens for all-new marketing possibilities and player conveniences. A key element of Konami’s Synkros, True-Time Windowing creates a full canvas of possibilities to deploy an array of incentives, bonuses, account functions, notifications, streaming video, marketing promotions, custom branding and more, directly onto the screen of most any video slot without interrupting game play. These new features and more will be showcased at the Konami booth during G2E 2018. For more information, visit konamigaming.com.

G2E PREVIEW 2018
xhibiting at Booth 2036, this year’s G2E looks very promising for Nanoptix and its PayCheck series of products. The company is highlighting new additions this year. As customers all over the world have experienced the benefits of the PayCheck NextGen printer and its avant-garde technological features, the company has expanded the offering with new products, which in turn provides even more possibilities to operations. The TITO printer utilizes a PC-based infrastructure, allowing a lot more connectivity and development on the system side, along with different things that the casinos want to see, like couponing, network downloading and Bluetooth capability for potential player’s club mobile apps. Leveraging the power and uniqueness of the PayCheck NextGen printer, the company created a Linux-based terminal, the PayCheck Terminal/Kiosk, for gaming, lottery and retail applications. It’s the world’s first kiosk terminal powered by a TITO printer. It incorporates a touch screen and a card reader as well as a barcode scanner, enabling it to be used as a desktop unit for cages, as a self-service kiosk for player registration, or for different types of sports betting. The PayCheck terminal’s roll printer comes from the company’s latest offering, the HSVL NextGen. Its printing quality, speed, cuts and life are all unmatched by the competition. A highly compact design is sure to integrate easily within most spaces; its optional presenter will provide additional capability, allowing it to serve many new industry markets. Its anti-jamming capabilities, unlimited connectivity, its variable media width and diameters, Bluetooth-available option and other features ensure it is a revolutionary product option. n 2013, Bally Technologies launched the Pro Iwaves Wave cabinet, a new platform that sent shock through the industry, changing the look
S
of casino floors, and transforming the player experience forever. The Pro Wave cabinet was the first to showcase a revolutionary 40-inch, curved, highdefinition touch-screen display that addressed all of the challenges associated with taller, upright slot cabinets. It beautifully showcased all of the game graphics on a single large screen, while offering comfortable viewing angles and ergonomics, providing an immersive player experience. Adding to its appeal and success, the Pro Wave also featured a game-controlled lighting package, cinematic surround-sound, and the awardwinning iDeck. To this day, this extensively copied cabinet continues to be a player favorite on casino floors worldwide. At G2E 2018, Scientific Games will launch the successor to the Pro Wave cabinet—the TwinStar Wave XL. Like its predecessor, the TwinStar Wave XL will take the player experience to the next level, showcasing an even larger 49-inch, curved touch-screen display that still offers versatility and a comfortable player experience. Beyond being larger, the dynamic display will showcase an astounding 4K, ultra-high-definition display, generating the kind of stunning graphics only seen in high-end home theaters. Now, with the TwinStar Wave XL, players can enjoy that kind of high-end entertainment media on casino floors. The TwinStar Wave XL also showcases an even larger iDeck and an even more advanced lighting and sound package. Additionally, the TwinStar Wave XL offers operators even greater versatility than its predecessor, which only supported Bally content. Like all cabinets in the innovative TwinStar family, the TwinStar Wave XL supports multiple content streams seamlessly, showcasing game titles from powerhouse Bally, WMS and Shuffle Master development teams, giving operators one powerful machine with access to the most innovative and in-demand game titles. The TwinStar Wave XL is launching with a lineup of proven, blockbuster titles such as Dragon Spin, Cash Wizard and the successor to the Duo Fu Duo Cai franchise, Jin Xi Bao Xi. All games will be presented with enhanced top boxes and in various arrangements, such as the impressive TwinStar Wave XL 360 configuration.

GFL Bonusing Rewards TCSJOHNHUXLEY • BOOTH 4439

018 continues to be an important year for TCSJohnHuxley, as the company celebrates 45 years as the premier manufacturer and supplier of live table gaming products and services with a host of new innovations. G2E sees some exciting new table game technologies which include a new addition to the Gaming Floor Live platform. GFL Bonusing Rewards features an innovative multi-level award system funded by the casino’s marketing budget that allows players to enjoy the excitement of winning jackpot prizes, without the need to place a separate side bet. The progressive-style giveaways periodically and randomly award players placing bets on the current hand, who are automatically enrolled in the chance to win a prize. The awards can be configured by a percentage contribution based on the table minimum, and operators can decide how much of their monthly marketing budget they wish to give away by dividing the spend into various progressive pools. Depending on the pool levels, the prizes can be averaged to pay out on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The system is extremely flexible, allowing operators the ability to change the contribution percentage of the table minimum during a campaign, should the need require. Hardware requirements are minimal and no sensors or extra chips are necessary to take part. The only operational requirement is for the dealer to register players, via a dealer console. Players are confirmed as taking part, with the player position indicated on the display. Since there are no additional steps, game speed and player experience are not affected. GFL Bonusing Rewards launched earlier this year, with the first installation at the Venetian Macao consisting of 170 tables, with more due to be rolled out at the operator’s other venues. This adds to over a thousand tables they have already installed on the GFL Platform with the Optimisation module. 2018 G2E SPORTS BETTING Tuesday OctOber 9
The Sports Angle G2E’s first-ever Sports Betting Symposium is packed with experts, cutting-edge topics
E
verything changed for the gaming industry last May when the Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), allowing sports betting in any state that approved it. It was one of the most clear-cut and impactful decisions by the high court that has ever affected the gaming business, and its ramifications are just beginning to be felt. That’s why Global Gaming Expo 2018 (G2E) has developed its first Sports Betting Symposium, taking place in Las Vegas October 8-11. The Sports Betting Symposium will provide gaming professionals with the tools they will need to consider business operations that best capitalize on the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning the failed federal ban on sports betting. Sessions will cover the business and legislative aspects of sports betting and offer an interactive, guided tour of the G2E expo hall to connect attendees with the top suppliers of sports betting technologies. “As states and sovereign tribal nations consider whether or not to enact legalized sports betting, the Sports Betting Symposium at G2E will offer the world’s foremost experts, business leaders and operators solutions to build a thriving legal market in the United States,” says Sara Slane, senior vice president of public affairs for the American Gaming Association. In addition to the symposium, the exhibit hall at G2E has more than doubled the number of sports betting exhibitors since the 2017 event, and continues to add more daily. The following is the complete agenda for the Symposium.

T
he GGB Gaming & Technology Awards are the casino industry’s most prestigious awards for technology, products and services that enhance the gaming experience. The honors are designed to recognize and encourage innovation and technology in the rapidly changing gaming industry. Winners of the 2018 G&T Awards will be announced at Global Gaming Expo (G2E) and published in the November 2018 issue of Global Gaming Business magazine. Individual presentations will be made in the winners’ booths at G2E on October 10. Roger Gros, publisher of GGB, explains why the GGB Gaming & Technology Awards are the top award recognition of the industry’s technology initiatives. “The Gaming & Technology Awards have long been recognized as the gold standard for technology companies in the gaming industry,” he says. “And by presenting the awards at G2E, the GGB Gaming & Technology Awards are able to convey ‘Best of Show’ winners at G2E. And since G2E is the most prestigious show in the gaming industry, the presentation of these awards at G2E elevates the winners and all nominees to the top level of gaming suppliers.” In the past, winners of the GGB Gaming & Technology Awards have gone on to revolutionize the casino industry, set high standards on the slot floor, and set benchmarks for quality casino games. And this year, a fifth category has been added: Best Interactive Product. With the spread of gaming online and in social gaming, this product can be anything a player accesses via computer, mobile phone or electronic device. It can be a social game or casino, an app that interacts with customers, an innovation in online gaming, or other ways to stay in touch with players. “There are so many new products that transcend the casino floor, it became mandatory that we recognize this innovative area of the gaming industry,” says Gros. Judges for the awards this year are: Claudia Winkler, president, GH Consulting; Rob Russell, gaming analyst, Regulatory Management Counselors, P.C.; Frank Neborsky, general manager, Downs Racetrack & Casino; Gerhard Burda, president and CEO, ESCAPES Advisory Services; Skyelar Perkins, senior director of corporate slot operations, Choctaw Casinos; and Cliff Paige, slot director, South Point Casino Hotel.

No sooner had the curtain gone up on the first fundraiser than both attendees and organizers realized there was a need and a demand for an organization to help serve gaming women’s needs. Soon the AGA was forming a steering committee and Global Gaming Women was born. Today, the Kick Up Your Heels fundraiser is a major event on the calendar, drawing hundreds of attendees and big-name sponsors. At its core, it remains a fun, nurturing place for women to network, see old friends, and make new ones, laying a groundwork for women to move forward and advance their personal and professional careers.

or the past two years, Kick Up Your Heels has also been a place to honor the “Patricia Becker Pay It Forward Award” recipients, a group of women selected by the GGW Board for their dedication and service to the organization and to women in gaming. Each honoree receives a bracelet made of quartz stones, symbolizing power, energy, and clarity. A 14-karat stiletto shoe charm characterizes the recipient’s commitment and strength in leading the way. Many of GGW’s programs focus on mentorship, and Becker expands on that idea: “At GGW, mentoring combines with networking and education to give women additional skills and visibility. Women need to have advocates as much as mentors, so that as promotions and opportunities become available, you have someone in the room to say your name, someone who will say, ‘She’s ready to be considered for training or a promotion or for the next level.’ At GGW, we are giving women forums in a supportive and non-threating environment, so they can move forward.”

ARUZE GAMING Where Legends Are Made A
ruze Gaming has set the mark in revolutionizing traditional gaming products. Aruze’s electronic table games will be the centerpiece of the booth with Lucky Roulette, Super Big Wheel, Omni Table, RFID technology, a unique live ETG product and Roll to Win Craps. Roll to Win Craps is a hybrid dealer-assisted ETG that combines the excitement and attributes of live table play with the operational efficiencies of modern technologies. It’s where tradition and technology merge, as a dealer calls and directs the game play, while up to 10 players can place their bets electronically, shoot the dice across a standard-sized craps table made of LED panels, and enjoy the spectacular animations designed to inform and entertain. A true benefit to casino operators will be reducing the staffing involved in operating the craps table. By removing all physical chips, only one employee is required to run the table game, thereby reducing staffing needs from three to one, depending on property and regulatory policies. Another feature of Roll to Win Craps set to spark the imaginations of both casino operators and marketers is an embedded LED advertisement wall. On the interior side of the craps table wall, a section is dedicated to streaming advertisements that can be used for casino property promotions or focused on external advertising partnerships. A year has passed since the first public viewing of Roll to Win Craps, but it is evident that it has evolved into a “must play” experience. On the slot side, the unrivaled design of the Muso Triple-27 cabinet will be scattered throughout Aruze’s booth. Ensuring that their newest cabinet will stand out from the crowd, Aruze designed Muso Triple-27 with an LED backlighting that gives a 360-degree presence on the casino floor. When the cabinets are connected, a sequential lighting feature occurs on the back panel to provide an exciting way to attract players. Having launched the first and only slot machine equipped with wireless charging functionality, Aruze is showing its commitment to innovation. At G2E, some 25 titles will be displayed on the Muso Triple-27, showcasing the depth of product available. In addition to the Muso Triple-27, many new products will be displayed on the existing Cube-X line of cabinets. Everyone visiting Booth 2659 will see why Aruze is “where legends are made.”

Duetto’s growing suite of cloud-based revenue strategy solutions helps casinos address this complexity by incorporating sources of dynamic data and predictive analytics into properties’ pricing structures, reinvestment decisions and direct marketing campaigns. Casinos, both commercial and tribal, will find themselves left behind if their technology and strategies can’t keep up with today’s gaming consumer. To maximize the earning potential of their properties, they can’t just fill the house with comped guests and track the revenue coming off only the gaming floor. For example, a whole new segment of visitors might stay on property for the first time and not even step foot on the gaming floor. But if one of those guests is willing to spend $1,000 across your restaurants, spa and retail outlets, he or she deserves some level of reinvestment. The casino’s revenue managers can work with player development, operations and digital marketing—all from a unified source of data—to make these decisions collaboratively, doing right by all guests, whether they gamble or not. This casino revenue strategy is fundamental to Duetto’s flagship open pricing application, GameChanger. The company’s portfolio of cloud solutions goes beyond pricing, however, to include its intelligent reporting application, ScoreBoard. Duetto’s app for optimizing group and non-contracted business, BlockBuster, is available for casinos, as is PlayMaker, the solution bringing true personalization to the booking process for the gaming industry. Finally, Duetto’s Find My Rate app makes the front desk and call center far more efficient by enabling them to search for player information with the push of a button and immediately receive the optimal room rate—for the guest and for the casino’s profitability. Casinos can leverage Duetto’s solutions to forecast demand for each of their segments and yield group and transient rooms at the right price with the right comp criteria and reinvestment rates. Visit Duetto at Booth 4000 during G2E to find out more and to get a live demonstration of all the company’s applications. For more information, visit DuettoCloud.com/casino.

The company remains committed to the innovation and originality it has become known for with a show tagline echoing its product development mantra: “Pushing Innovation to the Edge.” Debut products and game titles build upon the foundation IT has established in recent years, creating original gaming content players enjoy, displayed on hardware designed with the operator in mind. The Infinity Edge will be on display at G2E in numerous unique modular configurations that will fit every operator’s needs. G2E PREVIEW 2018
n today’s ever-shifting landscape, casino operators are searching for new ways to stay competitive, drive foot traffic and keep patrons engaged once they’re through the doors. As new generations of players emerge and preferences change, the opportunities for new entertainment experiences are bountiful. Many have worried that the younger generations of patrons have limited interest in traditional, passive casino games, but instead are seeking out more actively engaging and entertaining gambling experiences. Transitional players (contemporary baby boomers), as well as younger generations, are inherently techsavvy and grew up playing video and arcade-style games in which success depends on skill, not chance. In order for them to invest their time and money on a casino floor, the gaming and entertainment experiences have to be fun, unique and rewarding. To address these opportunities and increase the diversity and progression in casino play, Synergy Blue is uniting arcadestyle video game design with proven casino floor expertise. G2E PREVIEW 2018
nder new management, this year VizExplorer continued its industry leadership by developing innovative technologies and introducing new capabilities that help operators optimize their casino businesses. Over the years, the company’s solutions have made it easier to reorganize the gaming floor, identify new slot strategies, develop player reinvestment strategies and manage complex marketing campaigns. Every platform upgrade or new product feature introduced by VizExplorer is intended to expand the ecosystem and help operators run their businesses more efficiently and profitably. At G2E 2018, VizExplorer will showcase the Golden Record for Casinos. Designed to help operators combine multiple disparate data sources (on-premise, in the cloud, owned, third-party, etc.), VizExplorer’s Golden Record employs advanced machine learning algorithms to intelligently and effectively match data to a unique customer identity and deliver an accurate and unified profile for every player. Matched data is culled from numerous touchpoints in the casino and beyond, giving a comprehensive picture of each player’s total value based on his or her activity across the property. For the first time, data from hotel, golf, spa, retail, entertainment, F&B, etc. can be matched to casino betting activity to broaden the profile of the typical player and include his or her total worth. The Golden Record effectively delivers a new database that casino marketers can use to deliver custom marketing offers targeted to specific audience segments most likely to redeem them. Designed to be flexible and scalable, VizExplorer’s Golden Record architecture will allow additional data sources to be integrated over time as the business evolves. In addition, the Golden Record database is constantly refreshed, matching every new customer interaction in real time to the contact record, thereby enhancing the profile with all relevant behaviors and activity that inform the types of offers received. Visit vizexplorer.com/G2E2018 to request a product demonstration of the VizExplorer Golden Record solution, or any other VizExplorer products. 2018 EMERGING LEADERS
Youth Be Served Emerging Leaders of Gaming identifies the leaders of tomorrow | BY PATRICK ROBERTS
E
merging Leaders of Gaming (ELG) was formed by The Innovation Group in 2012 as a means of giving young professionals a home for collaboration and shared experience, and an extra advantage in the already-competitive gaming industry. The program relies on grassroots action by its participants to foster dialogue on industry trends, innovation and governance though the lens of a new generation of professionals. The Innovation Group’s collaboration with Global Gaming Business and its already-established “40 Under 40” program brought together two of the most dynamic programs recognizing new leadership in the gaming industry. Countless gaming operators and suppliers over the past five years have helped broaden the program’s reach and impact. The ELG vision has been organic and led by The Innovation Group’s own young professionals with their counterparts in operations, marketing, development, Native American enterprises and the most recently added segment, data analytics. The goals remain simple: • Expand interaction among younger leaders in the gaming industry • Foster productive professional relationships between emerging leaders • Channel content to feed the forums in which leaders interact • Provide networking opportunities at industry events and conferences • Recognize the notable contributions of emerging leaders

These individuals can nominate themselves or be nominated by a colleague for recognition. Nominations for the 2019 Emerging Leaders program will open in May. Nominees selected for the ELG “40 Under 40” will be: • profiled in Global Gaming Business magazine; • celebrated at the annual ELG extravaganza at G2E; and, • eligible to author an article for the ELG newsletter produced by The Innovation Group. G2E PREVIEW 2018
The Leadership (R)Evolution As industries go, the modern gaming industry is still young. Its first generation of leadership is just now looking back at over three decades of experience—half a professional generation—and seeing those they have mentored begin to thrive. Gaming’s early leaders had the difficult task of building legitimacy, maintaining responsibility and promoting advancement in design, breadth of offering, and marketing strategies. These feats were accomplished by executives within legacy companies where leaders like Terry Lanni, Phil Satre, Steve Wynn and Stanley Ho led the way. There were also great leaders among Las Vegas family “locals” brands like Station Casinos, Horseshoe Casinos, Boyd Gaming and Coast Casinos, and in the gaming equipment companies and their counterparts, as well as in the testing labs which reinforced innovation and accountability. A secondary wave of leadership emerged during the regional market expansion of the 1990s and early 2000s, when over a dozen regional gaming companies arrived on the scene along with parimutuel operators and hundreds of Native American enterprises. Gaming in the U.S. and Canada was now led by many executives from outside of the traditional casino industry. They came from high-ranking jobs in marketing, real estate and entertainment. Today’s emerging leaders are bringing their own generational nuance to the industry in a big way. Defining the relationship between players and technology, places and cyberspaces, and the utility of data and information are on their minds at every turn. Social responsibility is no longer a route to acceptance but a best practice. And forging communication between the generations of leaders is truly a work in progress.
The Future of the Emerging Leaders Program Capturing the essence of gaming’s first generational shift in leaders in today’s world is what ELG is all about. As the industry’s first generation of leaders increasingly turns to emerging leaders for strategic guidance and insights, a platform for thoughtful and targeted professional development is even more important than it was when the ELG program began. ELG remains committed to providing such a platform. The ELG program is designed to foster further progress in the areas most important for today’s leaders and their protégés: innovation and disruption, next-generation customers, operational efficiencies, development, recruitment and corporate social responsibility. With a firm foundation upon which to build, the Emerging Leaders program hopes to continue its work to create opportunities for our industry’s next generation of leaders to connect, engage and educate themselves about trends and successes in these areas. Goals include engaging new voices from inside and outside of the industry, identifying and advancing trends before they emerge, and creating new opportunities for the broader gaming industry to support and hear from this important class of individuals.
