It’s Festival Season in Chenango County!
Summer season is back in full swing in Chenango County, located in the heart of Central New York. Each summer, nationally recognized arts and music festivals draw thousands to see emerging and established performers, artisans, poets and more for family-friendly summer weekends.
Chenango County has become a destination for music lovers far and wide. This year’s 29th Annual Chenango Blues Festival is slated for August 19th and 20th with headliner Jimmie Vaughan. This festival draws attendees from all over the eastern United States to enjoy its family-friendly atmosphere and national-calibre musical talent. It received worldwide recognition in 2016 when the Blues Foundation recognized it as Best U.S. Festival. The festival organizers also host the NBT Bank Free Thursday night concert series in East Side Park all summer long, with over a thousand people a week coming together to hear artists from a wide range of genres perform.
Basketball fans everywhere know that the famous Gus Macker three-on-three tournament takes over downtown Norwich for a fun-filled weekend each July. Over 400 teams play in a double-elimination round robin tournament with different classifications. Still run in a hometown, friendly manner, the Macker has grown to national prominence.

As a partner in the Brew Central beverage trail, near the southern end of Chenango County, you’ll find the Madrona Tasting Room. At the same time, up in the northern part of the County, the Bullthistle Brewing Company creates craft beers that have developed a large and devoted following. Fairly new to our area is Hidden Springs Brewhouse in Norwich and Forged Brewery located in Coventry. And for the first time this year, Commerce Chenango Tourism is prepping for the inaugural Wine, Beer, and Food Truck festival slated for July 30, 2022.
