n Saturday, June 26th the CCYS Piranhas competed against the Coolidge Dolphins and the Tucson Aqua Bears in their second swim meet of the season. Around one hundred swimmers converged on Coolidge for the 8 a.m. start time. The Piranhas performed well in spite of the many challenges facing them this year.

Coach Barry Schwenk said, “I am always impressed with the way that our community steps up during difficult times. I appreciated how the town of Miami stepped up to give the Piranhas a home for several years and then when we were homeless again, the Cobre Valley Recreation Center stepped in.

This year has been challenging in many ways and although it is disappointing not being able to host swim competitions, I am happy that our kids have a place to practice and hone their skills.”

The Piranhas have two more swim meets to compete in before championships take place on Saturday, July 24. u
