Welcome … Welcome to our new autumn issue. We’re delighted to announce that we’re expanding Dog Friendly Cornwall so that we produce these quarterly magazines exclusively for our subscribers, but we’ll also be producing two Dog Friendly Cornwall guides each year which we’ll be sending to you as part of your subscription with us. We’ve really valued your support in our early years and we’d like to say thank you. In this issue we have been out and about discovering some really cosy romantic retreats which are dog friendly, some of which are right by dog friendly beaches. We have also been out on the trail checking out some beautiful creekside walks for you -- the tranquil Cornish estuaries are so beautiful at this time of year. For those who would like some inspiration ahead of the festive season, we have some ideas for lovely gifts for fellow dog lovers and we’ve also rounded up some places where you can enjoy dog friendly all day breakfasts. Always a handy list to have, we think. There is also the opportunity to win a rather fabulous prize, a stay in a beautiful Scandinavian style lodge at Sandy Acres near Hayle, which has its own dog friendly beach on St Ives Bay, one of the softest, sandiest, most gorgeous beaches in Cornwall. Oh, and did we mention there’s a hot tub there? And don’t forget our website. You can use your phone location, or enter a place name or postcode to find the best dog friendly places nearby when you are in Cornwall. www.dogfriendlycornwall.co.uk

Tremayne Quay, Helford River For more information visit: www.ntsouthwest.co.uk/tag/tremayne-quay/ Start point: Roadside parking spaces by the roadside where the track begins. Near TR12 6DB Walk: 2.5miles, there and back, some slopes but good track and not too challenging. Allow two hours This beautiful riverside walk, tucked away on the secluded southern shores of the Helford River is something of a secret, frequented mainly by local residents, anglers and sailors To find it head set your sat nav to TR12 6DB and make sure you drive through St Martin village. After turning right down Fords HIll at the bus stop in St Martin , turn left at the end of Fords HIll,. Then, rather than turning o the lane signposted Mudgeon Vean (where Helford Creek apple juice is made), continue along the road until it dips to a thickly wooded area. Here you will see spaces by the road for parking and a large wooden gate beyond which is a track leading downhill. Park up and your walk starts. 28

Follow the track downhill through the woods. After a short while you will come to a bridge. Cross it and continue along the path as it carries you up and around to the left, soon coming out alongside the wider creek. From here you simply keep following the track. It was made by the Vyvyan family who own nearby Trelowarren in anticipation of a visit from Queen Victoria who was enjoying a royal cruise along the Cornish coast at the time. Sadly, she never made use of it. The track continues around to the banks of the Helford River. There’s a little headland to your left. Carry on until you come down to Tremayne Quay.
