MA Network programs continued to lord it over their rivals in the viewerrich areas of Mega Manila and Urban Luzon last August, based on people ratings data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. In Mega Manila, 21 out of the 30 top regular programs came from GMA. With its riveting storyline and sophisticated special effects, Encantadia grabbed the number one spot in Mega Manila, followed by Korea’s highest rating series for 2016, Descendants of the Sun, at number two.
Rounding up the list of top GMA programs are Wowowin, Bubble Gang, Karelasyon, Dear Uge, Magkaibang Mundo, GMA Blockbusters, and Sinungaling Mong Puso. Similarly, in Urban Luzon, more programs (17 out of 30) from GMA also occupied the list of most watched shows. Encantadia emerged as the highest rating Kapuso program, with Magpakailanman, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Descendants of the Sun, Pepito Manaloto, and 24 Oras, among many others, also joining the top 30 list. Urban Luzon accounts for 77 percent of the urban TV population in the entire country, while Mega Manila represents 60 percent.

Atty. Gilberto M. Duavit, Sr. Elected to GMA Network’s Board of Directors
T
he Board of Directors of GMA Network, Inc. unanimously elected Atty. Gilberto M. Duavit, Sr. as a Director during a meeting held last July 28 at the GMA Network Center in Quezon City.
Atty. Duavit, a former Director of the Company, was the founding Chairman of GMA Network, Inc. in 1974-1976. He is one of the pillars behind the rebirth of Republic Broadcasting System (RBS)-TV Channel 7 in the 1970s. He is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Group Management and Development, Inc. and the Chairman of Guronasyon Foundation, Inc., an organization which recognizes remarkable teachers in the province of Rizal. Atty. Duavit was elected as member of the 9th, 10th, and 11th Congresses, representing the 1st District of Rizal. During his tenure in Congress, he served as Senior Assistant Minority Floor Leader (10th Congress) and Chairman of the House Committee of Appropriations (11th Congress) after becoming a member of the same House Committee (9th and 10th Congress). He had likewise served as a member of various House Committees including Constitutional Amendments, Education and Culture, Housing and Urban Development, Public Works and Highways, and Banks and Financial Intermediaries, and was cited as One of the Ten Most Outstanding Congressmen in the 9th, 10th, and 11th Congresses.
He was also formerly Assistant Executive Secretary for Social, Political, Legal, and Economic Affairs (1966-1970) and Acting Executive Secretary, Office of the President (1969), and was twice awarded the Presidential Merit Award in 1967 and 1968. Atty. Duavit was a delegate to the 1971 Constitutional Convention, representing the 2nd district of Rizal, and became President of the Philippine Constitutional Association or PHILCONSA (1970). He served as Executive Director of the National Youth and Sports Development Foundation of the Philippines (1978), and as Senior Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Youth

and Sports Development (19741978). He was also a member of the Batasang Pambasa, representing the Southern Tagalog Region from 1978 to 1984. Aside from GMA, he was also Chairman/Director of various firms and companies, among them Permastress Industries, Inc., Unistress Concrete Systems, Inc., Sagittarius Condominium Corporation, and Mar Fishing Company, Inc. Duavit earned his Bachelor of Arts and Law degree from the University of the East Manila, and holds a Doctorate degree in Humanities from the University of Rizal System.

easoned actor Gabby Concepcion recently inked an exclusive contract with GMA Network. Gabby is both honored and excited about this new milestone in his career as a Kapuso. “I am very, very grateful. I think it’s going to be a good year. Malapit na ang birthday ko so this is really a good birthday gift. Definitely, we are doing other shows in GMA,” Gabby said. The Kapuso actor headlined the hit primetime series Because of You with Carla Abellana and Rafael Rosell. He became a household name because of his role in the show where he was tagged for his onscreen moniker, “Boss Yummy.”
After several successful projects with the network, Julie Anne is thrilled with her new exclusive contract. “Ever since naman ito na yung tahanan ko. I started really young so dito na rin po talaga ako lumaki sa GMA. Masasabi ko po na sobrang thankful po ako na nabigyan po ulit ako ng opportunity to be with GMA. And I am really really excited kasi marami pong magaganap very soon,” Julie Anne shared.

apuso star and 2013 Miss World Megan Young was a huge crowd-drawer at the Pinoy Fiesta Vancouver held last August 16 at the Memorial South Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
She is currently among the lead stars of the GMA comedy series Conan My Beautician, and is set to star in an upcoming primetime program later this year.
The regal beauty was among the highlights in the celebration of all things Filipino, organized by the Philippine Canadian Cultural Society, with GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV and GMA News TV International as official media sponsors.
Meanwhile, the GMA Pinoy TV booth at the Pinoy Fiesta Vancouver was busy catering to Filipinos eager to stay updated with their favorite Kapuso artists and shows by subscribing to GMA’s international channels on the spot.
Over 5,000 Filipinos witnessed Canada’s biggest and most anticipated cultural event in commemoration of the Philippines’ vibrant history, diverse culture and rich traditions. Network employees, including those from the provincial stations, participated and raised 208 blood bags or 93, 600 cc. Blood drives were also held in Taguig City, Bacoor, Cavite, and Pulilan, Bulacan last July and August. The culminating bloodletting event, held last August 20 at Ever Gotesco Mall in Quezon City, generated 2,132 blood bags or 958,950 cc of blood. In partnership with Philippine Red Cross, Ever Gotesco Malls and Go Tong Foundation, Inc., the event coincided with the birthday celebration of GMAKF founder and ambassador Mel Tiangco. Other highlights included the awarding of plaques of (L-R) GMAKF founder and ambassador Mel C. Tiangco, Barangay LSFM’s Papa Dudut, Atty. Oscar P. Palabyab, Secretary General - Philippine Red Cross, Dr. Hermogenes Jarin, appreciation to frequent donors, who have donated blood at least ten times. Just recently, the Philippine Red Cross recognized GMAKF’s efforts by bestowing upon the latter the ‘Outstanding Blood Services Partner’ award.
GMAKF Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rikki Escudero-Catibog expressed her appreciation to those who made this year’s bloodletting project a success. “Now more than ever, with the prevalence of deadly diseases like dengue, more of us should donate blood. It’s a public service that is much needed,” said Catibog.
The first leg of Sagip Dugtong Buhay, held last February, collected a total of 1,942 bags or 873,900 cc of blood. GMA
