MA Network’s Board of Directors approved the declaration of cash dividends totaling P2.187 billion or P0.45 per share, during a meeting held at the GMA Network Center last March 29.
GMA also maintained its lead in the evening block, including primetime, with 38.4 percent as against ABS-CBN’s 37.1 percent.
The dividend will be paid on May 14, 2019 to shareholders of record as of April 22, 2019.
Similarly, the Kapuso Network continued to dominate in its bailiwicks Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, which respectively account for 72 and 60 percent of all urban viewers in the country.
The Network has declared total dividend per share and total dividends amounting to P5.26 and P24.933 billion, respectively, from 2008 to 2019.
GMA got an average total day people audience share of 39.8 percent in Urban Luzon, compared to ABS-CBN’s 30 percent.
GMA Network has consistently declared cash dividends each year since its IPO launch in 2007 and has been paying out cash dividends equivalent to almost 100 percent of the Company’s net income every year.
In Mega Manila, based on official data from March 1 to 23, the Network kept its winning streak with an average total day people audience share of 41.6 percent, versus competition’s 27.1 percent.
In terms of ratings performance, the Kapuso Network is still the viewers’ station of choice based on the latest data from the industry’s widely-trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. GMA registered an average total day people audience share of 36.4 percent in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) for partial March (March 1 to 27; with March 24
Furthermore, Kapuso shows also ruled the list of NUTAM’s overall top-rating programs for partial March with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) remaining unbeatable in the number one spot. GMA dominated both Urban Luzon and Mega Manila lists as well, taking 8 and 9 spots out of the top 10 programs, respectively.

apuso dramas ‘Kara Mia’ and ‘Inagaw na Bituin’ made waves all over social media and were among Social Wit List’s top 10 most-buzzed-about new shows worldwide for February 2019. These shows were the only entries from the Philippines and Southeast Asia that made it to the list.

Kara Mia, a fantasy-drama series headlined by Barbie Forteza and Mika dela Cruz, ranked the second highest which gained at least 29,000 tweets. On the other hand, GMA’s musical-drama Inagaw na Bituin starring Kyline Alcantara and Therese Malvar garnered at least 21,000 tweets.

DEREK RAMSAY signs up with GMA Network

ultitalented and sought-after actor Derek Ramsay is now a certified Kapuso as he inked an exclusive contract with GMA Network last April 3. Derek, who began his career as a host in hit noontime show Eat Bulaga, expressed his utmost gratitude to the Network for warmly welcoming him home, “It feels so surreal. During our first meeting, we had a great time. They really looked at who I was and it was all about getting to know me and my family. They understood that this was a big transition for me and gave me the time to prepare my mind and body. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.” Derek added that he is eager to start working here in GMA and he feels truly excited for this new chapter in his career. “What I noticed sa Kapuso, they always take risks. They don’t just serve the same thing on the table all the time. And that’s the way that I am, I like taking risks. The bigger the risk, the bigger the possible success. It’s gotten me to where I am now. I like challenging projects and that’s what I found here at GMA. I’m working on an new series which I think is very different and very exciting,” he shared. Being in the business for almost two decades, Derek is considered as one of the entertainment industry’s finest and highly-talented actors. He is at the top of his game and continues to deliver mesmerizing performances both in the small and big screens. MA News pillar Jessica Soho—the Philippines’ most-awarded broadcast journalist—continues to be a loyal Kapuso as she renewed her commitment with GMA Network in a contract signing held \ last March 13. “Thirty-four years na po akong Kapuso,” shared Soho, who started her career as a news reporter covering the military and defense beats. The self-confessed “promdi, or a small town girl, who made good” has only gratitude towards the people around her for success. “Maraming salamat sa mga kasama ko sa trabaho at siyempre sa mga namumuno po ng GMA Network. At of course, sa inyo pong aming mga manunuod. Maraming salamat po sa inyong pagtitiwala.” She added that she looks forward to more years as a Kapuso. “Marami pa po tayong pagkukuwentuhan at marami pa po tayong pag-uusapan,” she said. A two-time recipient of the highly prestigious George Foster Peabody Award, Soho was recently named as one of the members of this year’s New York Festivals

Television & Film Awards’ Grand Jury. In 2018, she brought another honor to the country as the very first Filipino news anchor to become a finalist at the said international competition, taking home the Bronze Medal in the Best News Anchor category for State of the Nation with Jessica Soho (SONA). This year, the “Salay” feature in KMJS is nominated in the Community Portraits category at the 2019 New York Festivals “World’s Best TV and Films” Competition. At the 2018 Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Awards, Soho was named the first ever Hall of Fame Awardee for winning the Most Trusted News Presenter award for eight consecutive years. She remains the Filipino journalist with the most number of Reader’s Digest awards to date. Soho is also the first UP College of Mass Communication alumna to receive the Gawad Plaridel Award for Journalism from the University of the Philippines. At the HISTORY CON 2018, she was given the History Maker Award for her significant contribution to the nation’s life and culture.

MA News Pillar Vicky Morales is looking forward to more years as a loyal Kapuso after renewing her contract with GMA Network on March 21. The 24 Oras anchor proudly shared that in the three decades of being a broadcast journalist, she has always considered GMA Network as her second home. “Kung tutuusin, itong contract signing, formality lang naman ito,” says Morales. “Kahit walang kontrata, GMA will always be home for me.” She adds that she remains thankful to the GMA Network management for trusting her through the years. “I’m feeling very grateful—siyempre sa mga namumuno ng GMA, sa tiwala nila sa atin. Grateful din [ako] sa mga program ko which I love very much: 24 Oras, Wish Ko Lang, and Good News. And of course grateful [ako] sa mga katrabaho ko. I feel very blessed.”

MA News Pillar Arnold Clavio has reaffirmed his loyalty as a Kapuso, renewing his exclusive contract with GMA Network last March 21.
“Nakakataba ng puso,” Clavio says of the contract signing. “Actually, di ko na kailangan ng contract. Dito ako nagsimula, dito na ako lumago. Napakapalad ko na maging bahagi ng Kapuso Network.” He adds that he is really proud to be a Kapuso. “Wala ako talagang masabi. Lagi akong nagmamalaki kapag may kausap akong estudyante: dito, ‘di mo nararamdaman yung boss. Ito na ang tinuring ko na [tahanan]…dito ako nakatira. Tinuturing ko na silang kasama sa buhay. Hindi ako mapupunta rito talaga kung wala sa pamunuan, sa tiwalang pinagkaloob [nila]. Kaya talagang malaking malaki ang pasasalamat [ko sa kanila].”

MA Network recently welcomed Latin Media Corp. (LMC) CEO and Founder Jose Escalante and wife Maria Andreina during their first-ever courtesy visit to the Network. LMC is an exclusive content distribution partner in Latin America through GMA’s program syndication arm, GMA Worldwide, Inc. (GWI). LMC, a well-respected distributor of Korean, Turkish, Indian, and Filipino content in Latin America, is responsible for the airing of Spanish-dubbed Kapuso dramas in all of Latin America, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Spain, and Spanish language channels in the USA and Canada. The couple was warmly welcomed by GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon and President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. Also present in the courtesy call were GWI President Anna Teresa Gozon, GWI Vice President Roxanne Barcelona, GMA First VP and Head of International Operations Joseph Francia, and GMA VP for Drama Redgie Magno. The guests were also able to meet the lead stars of Kapuso dramas acquired by LMC – Bea Binene and Derrick Monasterio of Hanggang Makita Kang Muli (Cautiva), Kris Bernal of Impostora (La Impostora), Ken Chan and Rita Daniela of My Special Tatay (Un Corazon Especial), and Mikee Quintos and Kate Valdez of Onanay (El Amor Mas Grande).

“We’re very lucky that we have partnered with Latin Media Corporation. They are the number one distributor of foreign content. Our revenues from our association with them are consistently growing and I think the reason is that Mr. Escalante is a very good manager,” said Gozon. Escalante, on the other hand, shared how the programs from GMA are well received by viewers in Latin America. “When I started thinking of bringing [programs from] a country from Asia, I thought of bringing the Filipino dramas because we look the same, our families, our values are very similar in terms of culture and [in] the way we educate ourselves. So we started bringing Filipino dramas and they are well-accepted so far.”

“Actually in Peru and Ecuador, the ratings are really, really good. We are very happy, and that’s what helps us to spread the word of Filipino dramas in the region,” Escalante added. Other GMA dramas acquired by LMC were Second Chances (Una Nueva Oportunidad), Someone to Watch Over Me (No Me Olvides), Legally Blind (Legalmente Ciega), Ika-6 Na Utos (Dulce Venganza), and Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka. Meanwhile, in another partnership of LMC with GMA International, the Spanishdubbed GMA dramas will also be available soon in various Latin American countries and other Spanish-language supported countries via OTT outlets.

In the signing ceremonies held at the Embassy on March 22, GMAKF Executive Vice President and COO Rikki EscuderoCatibog and Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda inked GMAKF’s first ever grant, which will fund the construction of a three-storey, sevenclassroom school building in Datu Saber Elementary School in Marawi City. The said grant was awarded under EOJ’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
The Datu Saber Elementary School will be the third Kapuso school that GMAKF is rebuilding in Marawi City following the successful inaugurations of Camp Bagong Amai Pakpak Elementary School in October 2018 and Pendolonan Elementary School in December 2018. GMAKF was the first institution to rebuild a school one year after the 2017 seige. The new school building of Datu Saber Elementary School is expected to be turned over to the Department of Education’s Marawi Schools District in December this year.

This year, with the help of GMA Regional TV, we’re doing the Kapuso Masterclass Series where we’ve been able to spread the word and awareness to Cebu, Bukidnon, and Davao. It’s been great being more involved and connecting with students all over the country.” Two awards will be conferred by GMA Network to the outstanding graduating students of Communication (Mass Communication, Multimedia Arts, or Advertising) and technologybased courses (Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Information Technology). GMA Employees I Join Mangrove Planting, Clean Up Activity in Kawit
n celebration of World Water Day, the Network’s corps of employee-volunteers, GMA G.I.V.E.S. (Guide, Interact, Volunteer, Educate, Serve), planted over a thousand propagules and cleaned up the areas along the coastline of Kawit, Cavite last March 16. This meaningful activity is in partnership with Maynilad through its ‘Plant for Life Mangrove’. Mangroves are essential in protecting the shore and will serve as a barrier for storm surge.
