Beginning February 6, Kapuso viewers are in for a treat as everyday people take on the challenge of a lifetime with show-stopping performances in an attempt to be hailed as a great pretender on GMA Network’s newest reality game show Catch Me Out Philippines.

Based on the popular UK original and a first in Philippine entertainment, Catch Me Out Philippines follows two amateur contestants who will go through weeks of intensive training with mentors and each with a different performance to master – from aerial silk dance to beatboxing – aiming to trick the viewers and celebrity catchers into believing that they are professional entertainers while performing alongside actual experts. The impostor who manages to dupe the most members of the audience is hailed as winner.

Catch Me Out Philippines is headlined by no less than well-loved comedian Jose Manalo who is known for his top-notch hosting skills that can liven up any crowd. Joining him is comedienne-singer Kakai Bautista and Kapuso hunk Derrick Monasterio whose witty banter as Celebrity Spotters, together with ten Celebrity Catchers, is sure to amuse and perhaps confuse the viewers in guessing who among the performers is the amateur.

Jose entices viewers on what to look forward to in this exciting new offering of Kapuso Network, “Isa sa aabangan nila ‘yung routine naming tatlo, kung gaano kami ka-relax sa isa’t isa. Sa GMA rin, thank you, kasi maganda ‘yung pagkaka-mix noong mga tao na pinili nila. Napakagaan katrabaho. At the same time, pag-iisipin ka talaga as a viewer. Ang ipinapakita rito sa show ay may mga tao pala na kayang turuan. ‘Yung parang akala nila hindi ko kaya, kaya ko naman pala, na kapag sumayaw ako parang propesyonal na. Sabi ko nga, galing na ako sa maraming auditions at kapag sinalang ko nakikita kong may mali pa rin. Dito, halatang nanggaling sila sa napakalupit na training para gumalaw sila na kagaya noong mga kasabay nilang propesyonal.”

Kakai, in turn, expresses her excitement upon being chosen as part of Catch Me Out Philippines, “Noong nalaman ko ‘yung role, na-excite talaga ako. Kasi kaming mga komedyante, people don’t get to see our other side. ‘Yung marunong din sila, hindi lang sila nagpapatawa. Na-excite ako na I will get the chance to state my opinion about something that I really love, which is entertainment, like insights ko sa performances. I’ve been in theater for 20 years now and in showbiz, nabigyan talaga ako ng chance. I’m very grateful that people will see a different side of me, hindi lang makulit, but may say rin sa mga bagay specially sa mundo ng entertainment and that excites me every taping.”

Meanwhile, Derrick recounts how he relates to the show, “Actually, mare-relate ko ang Catch Me Out sa life ko in the sense na I was an amateur before and then I trained with one of the most prestigious choirs in the world. Na-train ako sa kung anong kaya kong gawin ngayon. Before I entered showbiz, noong nasa choir pa ako, pumupunta kami sa iba’t ibang bahay para kumanta at mag-entertain ng tao. ‘Yun ‘yung similarity ng humble beginnings ko with the show.”

Be awed by surprising performances and take a guess who among the performers is the greatest pretender in Catch Me Out Philippines – under the helm of esteemed director Rico Gutierrez – Saturdays, 7:15pm, on GMA-7 on GMA Pinoy TV.

Kapuso viewers from across the globe can also catch their favorite Kapuso shows via GMA’s international channels GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV, and GMA News TV International. For the program guide, visit www.gmapinoytv.com.

OWE MY LOVE

ROMANCE ON INSTALLMENT

They say money can’t buy love but could romance possibly grow from a business deal? A sizable debt, a no-nonsense contract and a seemingly harmless white lie—these are the seeds of an unusual love story of two strangers from divergent worlds in the latest romanticcomedy series from GMA Public Affairs.

From the team behind the top-rating and well-loved primetime series Naku, Boss Ko!, Inday Will Always Love You, TODA One I Love, and One of the Baes comes Owe My Love, a timely show about the value of true love airing on GMA Telebabad.

Headlined by Kapuso Premier Drama actress Lovi Poe and sought-after Kapuso leading man Benjamin Alves, Owe My Love follows the story of Pacencia “Sensen” Guipit (Lovi) and Dr. Miguel “Migs” Alcancia (Benjamin) whose lives intertwine in a world of debt, neardeath, and dogged dedication to family.

Sensen, a nursing school undergrad, quits her studies and takes on several jobs to keep her family’s finances afloat. Selfless almost to a fault, she is driven by her positive attitude that with hard work, she will someday reap her muchdeserved rewards. Always on the go because opportunities are not to be wasted, she has little time for herself much less for romance.

Meanwhile, Doc Migs is a heart surgeon at Centimos Medical Hospital. He is also a financial adviser on a online show called “Alcancia ng Bayan.” Migs grew up in a broken family and was raised mostly by his beloved Lolo Badong (Leo Martinez) who taught him the value of hard work and saving money. But now that Lolo Badong suffers from middle-stage dementia, Migs is desperate to delay the effects of the disease and of forever losing his only family.

Fate and a series of unfortunate events - from paying off her father’s gambling losses to shouldering her youngest sibling’s hospital bills - lead Sensen to become financially indebted to Migs. So they forge a deal where Sensen pays off her loan by working as Lolo Badong’s caregiver because for some inexplicable reason, Sensen’s presence delays the symptoms of Lolo Badong’s dementia. It’s not as simple as it seems however because Lolo Badong is convinced that Sensen and Migs are married. To keep his grandfather happy, Migs asks Sensen to keep up the pretense while she works off her debt.

But what happens when their pretend marriage develops into a real romance? Will debt keep Sensen and Doc Migs together or will it tear them apart?

Owe My Love features an impressive supporting cast which includes the inimitable Comedy Concert Queen herself Aiai Delas Alas as Vida Morales, Sensen’s boss-cum-second mother; WinWyn Marquez as Trixie Gibs, the clingy ex-girlfriend of Migs and Ms. Jackie Lou Blanco as Divina, Migs’ greedy stepmother. The program also features a rich ensemble of veteran comedians whose antics will leave the audience in stitches, led by Nova Villa as Mema Eps, Ruby Rodriguez as Nanay Coring, Pekto Nacua as Tatay Oryo, Buboy Villar as Gwaps, and Kiray Celis as Evs.

Rounding the cast are Ryan Eigenmann as Doc Coops, Jelai Andres as Jenny Rose Guipit, Jon Gutierrez as Eddie Ganondin, Jason Francisco as Richard Purr, Divine Tetay as Juna, Terry Gian as Judith, and Mahal as Mini Divi.

Owe My Love is directed by Rember Gelera and Ray Gibraltar, and penned by head writer Volta Delos Santos, based on the original concept from Joseph Conrad Rubio. The Public Affairs production team is led by Program Managers Rubio and Karen Lumbo, with Executive Producer Lowell Alojado.

Catch Owe My Love weeknights at 9:35 p.m., on GMA Telebabad.

Viewers abroad can also watch Owe My Love via GMA’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV. For the program guide, visit www.gmapinoytv.com.

Local News Matters:

GMA Regional TV delivers news that inform, stories that inspire across the Philippines

GMA Regional TV (RTV) takes pride in staying true to its “Local News Matters” campaign. With stations strategically located in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the regional arm of GMA Network consistently enables viewers to access local news in various communities outside Metro Manila.

Its unparalleled commitment to producing local news programs and specials that are more attuned to stories, voices, and viewership in the regions has earned the trust of Filipino viewers all over the country. In 2020, GMA RTV’s regional morning shows and local newscasts tallied a combined reach of about 64 percent of all TV households throughout the country, with an estimated total of 46.8 million viewers, based on Nielsen Phils. TV Audience Measurement’s Total Philippines data (January to December 2020).

Further, in the last two years, GMA RTV posted increased viewership for all of its regional news programs based on 2019 and 2020 Nielsen Phils. Metro Cities TV Audience Measurement (MCTAM) data. And amid the challenges brought about by the pandemic in 2020, GMA RTV launched pioneering morning programs in key regional hubs in the Philippines.

In GMA RTV’s North Central Luzon hub, GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan remains as the leading local newscast. In 2020, the award-winning unified weekday newscast registered an enormous viewer growth of 170 percent in Metro Dagupan. Balitang Amianan is co-anchored by seasoned broadcast journalists CJ Torida, Joanne Ponsoy, and Jasmin Gabriel-Galban with Ivy Hernando, King Guevarra, Russel Simorio, Claire Lacanilao as regional correspondents, and a wide network of local news stringers all over North Central Luzon. GMA RTV also introduced the unified weekday morning show in North Central Luzon, Mornings with GMA Regional TV, last September, co-hosted by Ralph Guieb with Ara Hanesh.

GMA Regional TV and Synergy leadership team led by its First Vice President and Head Oliver Victor Amoroso

Meanwhile, in GMA RTV’s Central and Eastern Visayas hub, the unified weekday newscast GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak continues to be the viewers’ top choice since 2019. MCTAM’s data even showed that Balitang Bisdak grew its average number of viewers in Metro Cebu by 48 percent in 2020 relative to 2019. Balitang Bisdak is bannered by tri-media personality Bobby Nalzaro and co-anchored by award-winning broadcast journalists Alan Domingo and Cecille Quibod-Castro. Reporting from different parts of Metro Cebu are regional correspondents Lou-Anne Mae Rondina, Nikko Sereno, Fe Marie Dumaboc, and local news stringers based in different parts of Central and Eastern Visayas. Morning viewers in Central and Eastern Visayas are also treated to GMA Regional TV Live!, which was launched in April last year, and co-hosted by Sereno and Quibod-Castro.

In GMA RTV’s Western Visayas hub, flagship weekday unified Hiligaynon newscast GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas continued to increase its viewership in the span of two years since its launch. It recorded a 165-percent viewership growth in Metro Bacolod, while earning 174 percent viewership increase in Metro Iloilo from 2019 to 2020. One Western Visayas is coheadlined by broadcast journalists Sedfrey Cabaluna, Adrian Prietos, and Kaitlene Rivilla. Together with them are award-winning regional correspondents Zen Quilantang, Darylle Marie Sarmiento, and John Sala along with news stringers across Western Visayas. In August 2020, GMA RTV pioneered the first-ever unified weekday Hiligaynon TV morning show in Western Visayas dubbed GMA Regional TV Early Edition co-hosted by Cabaluna, Prietos, and Rivilla.

Further, in Mindanao, pioneering unified weekday local newscast GMA Regional TV One Mindanao more than doubled its viewership reach in 2020 compared to 2019. The program, produced by Mindanaoans for Mindananoans, recorded a remarkable 137 percent viewership growth in Metro Davao. Similarly in Metro Cagayan de Oro, One Mindanao posted a 110 percent increase in viewership. GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is co-anchored by Gandingan Awards’ Best Anchor Tek Ocampo, seasoned broadcast journalists Sarah HilomenVelasco and Real Sorroche with regional correspondents Sheillah Vergara-Rubio, Rgil Relator, Jandi Esteban, and Cyril Chavez as well as various local news stringers based across North, Central, South Central, and Southern Mindanao. Last June 2020, GMA RTV launched the first and only unified weekday morning program in Mindanao via At Home with GMA Regional TV co-hosted by Relator and Chaves.

At the same time, GMA RTV’s flagship national newscast GMA Regional TV Weekend News was awarded the Catholic Mass Media Awards’ Special Citation as Best News Program, as it continues to make the top stories from the regions available to more viewers nationwide every Saturday on GTV. Launched in 2019, GMA Regional TV Weekend News airs news and other special features delivered by no less than the roster of award-winning broadcast journalists from RTV’s local newscasts.

This year, viewers can be assured that GMA RTV is committed to bring relevant news and stories from the regions to the local and national levels as it launched its sixth flagship newscast — GMA Regional TV Balitang Bicolandia last February 1.

SERBISYONG TOTOO ACROSS ALL REGIONS

“Since day one, we have taken to heart our campaign ‘Local News Matters,” said GMA Regional TV and Synergy First Vice President and Head Oliver Victor Amoroso. “It has been our driving force in every program and every initiative we come up with. The past few years saw the need for more news and information on and from the regions and GMA Regional TV is committed to work harder to consistently deliver this. Amid the ever-changing landscape of community journalism and challenging times, our Kapuso viewers in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao can be assured that GMA Regional TV will be there for them, bringing them relevant news, features, and other initiatives that they need the most,” he added.

With 2020 being one of the most challenging years to date, GMA RTV remained committed to providing Serbisyong Totoo -- being at the forefront of delivering the biggest news all over the regions. During calamities such as typhoons and earthquakes, these local news teams are on their feet, reporting directly from ground zero. Regular news updates are also provided to viewers through GMA RTV’s series of special coverage such as “Coronavirus Pandemic Alert,” “Bantay Bagyo,” “ASF Watch,” “Linog sa Mindanao,” and “Baha Update.” GMA RTV also rolled out its “Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels,” providing families from different barangays with food packs, rice, and groceries, as well as locally produced vegetables. The campaign has been able to reach more than 6,000 families since it was launched in May 2020. It is no surprise that GMA RTV initiatives and efforts have been recognized by various award-giving bodies.

In 2020—for the fourth time in a row—GMA RTV was named the “Best Regional TV Network” at the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards. At the 42nd Catholic Mass Media Awards, its programs and initiatives received Special Citation merits. These included “GMA Regional TV Weekend News” (Best News Program category); “GMA Regional TV’s Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels” (Best TV Ad-Public Service), and “Byaheng DO30,” which airs on GMA Regional TV Channels in Mindanao (Best News Magazine Program).

Online, GMA RTV has been strengthening its presence as well thru its official website: www.gmaregionaltv.com. Its official YouTube channel has been a recipient of the Silver Play Button Award after having reached the 100,000-subscriber mark on the online video platform last year. In the coming years, expect GMA RTV to remain steadfast in its commitment of delivering local news that matters and stories that inspire—enriching the lives of Filipinos in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao every step of the way.

GMA Regional TV proudly airs ‘Kaisa Festival TV Special’

GMA Regional TV partners with the City Government of Tarlac to broadcast the “Kaisa Festival TV Special” last Sunday, January 31, on its various regional channels across the Philippines.

“Kaisa Festival” is a week-long festival held every January to commemorate Tarlac’s rich history and culture. With the restrictions and health protocols being implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City Government of Tarlac will mount this year’s Kaisa Festival as a one-hour TV special.

In partnership with GMA Regional TV, the “Kaisa Festival TV Special” will air on the regional channels via GMA Dagupan, GMA Ilocos, GMA Bicol, GMA Cebu, GMA Iloilo, GMA Bacolod, GMA Davao, GMA CdeO, and GMA GenSan—enabling Tarlaqueños to celebrate from the comforts of their homes and, at the same time, allowing more Filipinos all over the country to appreciate the said local festival.

“While the current pandemic has restricted us from staging mass gatherings and other activities such as festivals, this has not deterred GMA Regional TV from our commitment to bring important occasions closer to our Kapuso in the regions,” shared GMA Regional TV and Synergy First Vice President and Head Oliver Victor Amoroso. “We are honored to partner with the City Government of Tarlac to broadcast the ‘Kaisa Festival TV Special’ via our regional stations strategically located across the Philippines. We look forward to giving our local viewers more reasons to celebrate our history and culture in this time of pandemic,” he added.

The “Kaisa Festival TV Special” aims to recognize the Tarlaqueños’ deep desire to unite in creating a progressive and peaceful future for all. It will highlight the Tarlaqueños wisdom and talent through the previous year’s various festival activities that provided entertainment to the public.
