GMA Network Tops Urban Luzon and Mega Manila Ratings in May Urban Luzon and Mega Manila represent 77 and 59 percent, respectively, of all urban TV households in the country. During the covered period (with May 24 to 31 based on overnight data), GMA led competition in Urban Luzon with a 37.6 percent total day household audience share, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 31.3 percent by 6.3 points and TV5’s 8.2 percent by 29.4 points.
GMA Network continued to dominate the ratings in its stronghold areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in May, according to data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Meanwhile, GMA kept its lead in the daytime blocks in NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement). In the morning block, GMA recorded an average household share of 34 percent, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 29.9 percent by 4.1 points and TV5’s 10.1 percent by 23.9 points. In the afternoon block, GMA posted 36.7 percent, up 3.3 points from ABSCBN’s 33.4 percent and up 28.2 points from TV5’s 8.5 percent.

Jessica Soho Renews Exclusive Contract with GMA Network GMA News pillar Jessica Soho renewed her commitment with GMA Network in a contract signing held on Monday, June 15. “Tayo ay hindi lamang nagagalak kundi very proud na pumirma ulit sa atin si Jessica. Si Jessica ay talagang very valuable sa GMA,” said GMA Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon at the contract signing.

Iya Villania is New Chika Minute Host Iya Villania is the new host of primetime newscast 24 Oras’ showbiz segment Chika Minute. Iya joins the formidable trio of Mel Tiangco, Mike Enriquez and Vicky Morales. “Iya injects new energy to Chika Minute with her fresh and sassy news delivery. She also brings her active lifestyle to the show, and her star power as she brings us closer to the biggest showbiz personalities,” said Assistant Vice President for News and Special Programs Michelle Seva. Iya currently co-hosts the weekly lifestyle program Taste Buddies on GMA News TV and is also part of the musical-variety program Sunday All Stars on GMA-7. GMA Chair & CEO Named Global Media Icon of the Year With an iron will but a grateful heart, Atty Felipe L.Gozon, chairman and CEO, charts the Kapuso Network’s upward growth trajectory. While he is supported by a formidable team of executives, both the local media industry and the business sector, as a whole, credit Gozon with the phenomenal success story that is GMA Network. As is written in the Foreword of Gozon’s autobiography (released to commemorate his 75th birthday in 2014), “Eventually, he succeeded in catapulting GMA into number one in the TV survey ratings coming from the bottom rung of the totem pole. This he achieved notwithstanding his lack of any business degree or management training, using only his energy, intuition, vision and common sense.” Aside from bringing in the profits, Gozon also brings fame to the Kapuso Network with the different accolades awarded to him, in recognition of his many accomplishments. The latest that Gozon has notched under his belt is the prestigious Global Media Icon of the Year in the Master Class category of the first Global Branding Awards. He was likewise conferred as a Fellow of the Global Brands Council, the highest form of membership in the Society that seeks to help companies and individuals build stronger brands. Both feats are firsts for any Filipino or Filipino company.

GMA Launches First Multi-Platform Program “To the Top” GMA Network is all set to launch the country’s firstever multi-platform boy band search via its program, To the Top. Produced by GMA Public Affairs, To the Top is initially available online via www.gmanetwork.com/gma/tothetop. The webisodes are hosted by Kapuso homegrown artist Julian Trono. Unlike other reality programs with open auditions, To The Top scoured the country and invited the best male vocals from different schools and organizations to try out. Julian Trono - the young host underwent a rigorous training under the Kpop system

From the auditions to the finale, To The Top documents the journey of these young men from being solo artists or being members of their respective singing groups to ultimately becoming part of the country’s newest boy band. Guiding them are Moy Ortiz, OJ Mariano and Sweet Plantado of the premier vocal ensemble The Company; Madelle and Prince Paltu-Ob, alumni of worldrenowned dance group Philippine All Stars; and award-winning music producer Jonathan Ong and his team. The competition proper will start airing on GMA Network mid-July 2015.

GMA Kapuso Foundation Completes Housing Project in Tacloban
ISS UE NO. 42 GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) completed its 403-unit housing project in Tacloban, the first permanent concrete housing project in Leyte for survivors of typhoon Yolanda. Aside from its housing project, the GMAKF is planning to build 24 new classrooms under its Kapuso School Development project within the Kapuso Village in Tacloban. A Kapuso Village will also rise in Palo, with 169 more concrete houses for the survivors. GMAKF EVP and COO Mel C. Tiangco expressed her gratitude to those who made the project possible. “Besides financial assistance, some donors gave us construction materials or appliances, while some gave us really good discounts,” shared Tiangco.

“Needless to say, we are grateful for the trust and generosity bestowed upon us by numerous citizens all over the world,” Tiangco added.
GMAKF also requested the local government to provide an additional 2,000 square meter space for an office for the homeowners association, function hall and a multi-purpose center, where residents can set up sari-sari stores and other establishments they deem wise, to further make the area a barangay. Meanwhile, GMAKF recently formed a group of volunteers under the guidance of the Department of Community Development of the College of Social Work and Community Development in UP Diliman to help and guide the beneficiaries of the Kapuso Village develop a sense of community and build camaraderie. There are currently 403 families (more than 3,000 individuals) left homeless by Yolanda, who are now residing in the Kapuso Village in Tacloban. Indeed, GMAKF gives these survivors hope and new stories to tell.
