Expressing his enthusiasm and joy, Khalil shared, “It feels quite overwhelming. Everyone that I’ve met so far has been very welcoming. I feel loved! The amount of support that I’ve been getting so far is very gratifying. I’m incredibly happy to be a Kapuso. I’m very much excited to be able to collaborate with such talented and skilled people. Now that he is a certified Kapuso, Khalil looks forward to portraying challenging roles that GMA is known for highlighting on screen. “I’d definitely want to take on roles that are acting pieces. Some that I could think of are roles in a heavy drama series. Thriller and suspense roles would be great as well. Comedy is also something that I’d like to explore after doing Dead Kids. Alden Richards shares his takeaways from latest docu special

A

lden Richards has been on a roll lately with various projects coming his way. But this does not mean that the Asia’s Multimedia Star has not been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic himself. Like most celebrities and as a business owner, the Kapuso star experienced how this invisible enemy has taken a toll on various industries. This is why Alden can relate to his project with GMA Public Affairs, The Lockdown: Food Diaries, a documentary that offers a glimpse into the lives of various workers in the food sector and highlights their courage and determination as they put their safety on the line just to keep the supply chain running. Alden, who was recently named as Department of Health’s Anti-COVID-19 Awareness Campaign Ambassador, notes of everyone’s ‘new normal’ way of preparing to go out: “Dati noong nung wala pang COVID, ‘pag aalis ng bahay lagi lang nating sinesecure mga dadalhin ‘yung pitaka natin, bag, susi ng kotse. Ngayon, nasanay na tayo na may face mask, face shield, alcohol.”

GMA Network partners with FilDocs for Daang Dokyu Online Festival

In doing Lockdown: Food Diaries, Alden also found inspiration from people who pivoted amid the pandemic. He said these people have shown him how no one should let the pandemic dictate our lives but instead endeavor to push ourselves further so that we can rise above the situation. “Saludo po kami sa inyo at binibigyan ninyo kami ng inspirasyon na ‘wag sumuko sa laban ng buhay ngayon. Kasi dun talaga natin makikita na yung mga Pinoy, hindi talaga mapride e. Gagawin natin lahat para magsurvive, para makapagsustento sa mga mahal natin sa buhay.” “Ako, ito yung quote ko every day ‘the only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude,” he ends.

s the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect lives and livelihoods around the world, we develop a deeper appreciation for how complex and demanding teaching is and how teachers play a crucial role in ensuring that learning continues while staying safe in the comforts of our home.

TEACHERS

Camille Prats is an educator, a directress, and a co-owner of a school.

Teachers aren’t just people who instruct in a particular subject. They change and shape their students’ lives. Teachers encourage students to chase their dreams, motivate them to believe in themselves, and guide them toward new interests that would unleash their potentials. In celebration of this year’s National Teachers’ Month, GMA Artist Center talents Camille Prats and Patricia Tumulak share how their love for teaching remains resolute despite being busy over showbiz commitments. Just like all educators, it’s their passion to educate young pupils and learn from the creative minds of our future even amidst the pandemic.

REALIZATION OF A DREAM

C

amille practically grew up before the eyes of television and movie audiences. She has evolved from being a little princess to a woman who is also the directress and co-owner of Divine Angels Montessori of Cainta, Inc.

GMA KAPUSO MAGAZINE |OCTOBER 2020 ISSUE

When she got pregnant with her first child, Nathan, she took up a Montessori course in the United States because she had always dreamt of becoming a teacher and had always been fond of kids. Divine Angels Montessori of Cainta, Inc., which she co-owns with her brother John, started as a small school for preschool students in 2009 but after a couple of years, it grew and expanded in 2014 to accept elementary students.

“This is actually a realization of my dream. Para sa akin, napakahalaga talaga ng good education because I believe that the future of our children starts in school today. When I was thinking about what business to put up, I really wanted something that has to do with children and education kasi mahilig ako sa bata,“ said Camille.

PAYONG KAPUSO COVER 19

Before stepping into show business and pageantry, Patricia Tumulak was a volunteer teacher and has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development.

Albeit she’s hosting the morning talk show Mars Pa More with Iya Villania and GMA’s edu-tainment program Makulay Ang Buhay, Camille is committed in providing support to the school’s teachers and students. The Kapuso actress expressed her deepest gratitude to the teachers and school leaders who hold their digital classrooms together, “Thank you so much for all that you do. Let’s all continue to pray for God’s grace. I know uncertain times like today may bring a lot of worry, let’s not lose hope for our family and our students.”

FIRST LOVE

M

eanwhile, Patricia’s enthusiasm for teaching, which she refers to as her first love, continues to bloom and unravel new and exciting things for her. The former beauty queen aspires to put up her own preschool someday and pass

down her love for reading to the future generations as she plans to publish her own storybook in the forthcoming years. She gets a big head start in putting her dreams into action as she carries out her passion project, ”Push to Read,” which she started in 2018. Prior to the pandemic, she would gather kids from different villages and conduct a storytelling session and share her love for reading. Last June, she launched “Push To Read Project” on YouTube to continue her advocacy for reading online.

She also recognized the dedication of her fellow educators, “I would like to commend all the teachers for braving this pandemic. A lot of transitioning has happened during the lockdown. Now is the best time to adapt to change, to squeeze out all creative juices on how to be resourceful of what we have, to give hope, love and make the learning of the students fun. MA Network has finally announced that beautiful and talented Kapuso actress Sanya Lopez will play the title role in the much-awaited primetime series First Yaya.

Sanya shared that she is still in the process of preparing for her character and draws on her past experience of babysitting for her younger cousins.

Sanya further cemented her name in the entertainment industry after showcasing her acting skills in various programs including Haplos, Cain at Abel, and Dahil Sa Pag-ibig.

“Sa tulong ni Direk LA at ng buong production ay nasa proseso pa po ako ng pagkilala kay Yaya Melody, para mabigyang buhay at hustisya ko po ang pagkatao niya. ‘Yung buhay ko po noon sa Pulilan, Bulacan ay mayamang source ng inspiration, lalo po at naranasan ko ring mag-alaga ng mga pinsan na mas bata sa akin,” shared Sanya.
