GMA New Media Revenues Jump 49 Percent in H1 GMA New Media, Inc. (NMI), GMA Network’s digital media and technology arm, finished the first half of 2017 with an impressive 49 percent growth in consolidated revenues. Driven by the surge in online advertising sales as well as NMI’s partnerships with dominant industry players, NMI raised its consolidated revenues to P168.4 million in H1. Online advertising sales soared 135 percent to P113.2 million which was achieved through the collaboration between NMI and GMA’s Sales and Marketing Group (SMG). Year-to-date sales from owned media (GMANetwork. com) through programmatic partners also grew by 39 percent. Revenues from NMI’s partnerships with content discovery and community-building platforms, led mainly by Facebook and YouTube, garnered a 62 percent increase versus last year. NMI’s subsidiary, MediaMerge, capped off the first half of the year strong with a 418 percent growth in net profit. The deal not only supports the anti-piracy efforts of the Philippine entertainment industry, but more importantly, addresses millennial video viewing habits. The total views for GMA’s main YouTube channel reached 1.986 billion in the first six months while YouTube revenues went up by 72 percent to US$ 543,114. The GMA Entertainment-only YouTube channel has shown great improvement over the first six months of the year as views and watch time grew more than threefold at 362 percent and 365 percent, respectively. Glaiza Fuels Excitement Among Kapuso Abroad in Canada

Glaiza with Filipino press based in Canada.

Glaiza takes a photo with her Kapuso Abroad during ANCOP Walk.

The excitement among Filipinos in Canada was at fever pitch as GMA Pinoy TV and Glaiza de Castro made summer for the Kapuso abroad even hotter. Glaiza’s back-to-back performances at events held in Toronto and Vancouver showcased the Kapuso actress’ bold vocals and new music. In Vancouver, fans were treated to Glaiza’s freshest hits at “Pinoy Fiesta: Unang Hirit sa Tag-Init” held at Memorial South Park last August 13. It was a momentous affair for Glaiza, who, for the first time, did a live rendition of songs from her new album “Magandang Simulain”. At the closing of the show, a select number of attendees were fortunate enough to receive signed copies of Glaiza’s most recent musical masterpiece and have a chance to take photos with her.

12

Glaiza bonds with fans at the Kalesa Restaurant.

Prior to the event, Glaiza’s supporters all over the world were able to chat with her in real-time via GMA Pinoy TV’s Facebook page. The live chat, which created buzz online, served as a platform for Glaiza to answer questions about her upcoming event and dedicate a special song to viewers. Asked what else Glaiza intends to do while in Canada, the Encantadia star expressed her desire to tour notable landmarks in the country after her commitments. On August 19, Glaiza’s wish was granted when a string of activities allowed her to see a popular destination in Toronto. She was able to climb the CN Tower, a communications and observation tower that is the third tallest of its kind in the world. While there, she spent time with Filipino press based in Canada at 360 The Restaurant, a revolving food establishment at the top of the tower. A meet-and-greet with more of her dedicated fans followed suit at Filipino restaurant Kalesa.

GMA KAPUSO MAGAZINE |SEPTEMBER 2017 ISSUE

Glaiza capped off her day with a funfilled fan gathering made possible by iRemit, the largest Filipino-owned nonbank remittance service provider. On August 20, Glaiza performed during ANCOP Walk, in support of the event’s cause of raising funds for child education, community development, and humanitarian relief for third world countries. Later that day, Glaiza guest-starred for the “Women in Music” event where she donned, yet again, her singer hat and transformed Prestige by Night into an intimate paradise with a tender performance of her hits from her albums “Synthesis” and “Magandang Simulain”. Of her Canadian sojourn, Glaiza has this to say: “’Yung experience ko rito, parang nasa Pilipinas pa rin ako. ‘Yung warmth nang pag-welcome nila sa akin, parang hindi ako nalalayo sa Pilipinas. Thank you to GMA Pinoy TV for bringing Filipinos abroad closer to home.”
