History - Gary and Robin have been in Thailand since 1997 evangelizing and establishing Thai college students. They have four children: Robert, Ellie, John and Becca. They have worked on campus in Bangkok for seven years, in Khon Kaen for eight years and are now leading a new expansion team to Chiang Mai.

Calling - The Alward’s desire to serve God in Thailand for the rest of their lives, seeing God raise up college students to be lifetime laborers in Thailand and throughout Southeast Asia.

Reaching Thai men with the gospel is especially hard. Playing indoor soccer, eating and spending informal time together helps to build trust and provides opportunities for spiritual conversation.

Time together at the Alward’s house opens oportunities for the gospel, either through conversations, videos or Bible study. Small one night retreats give us extended time to teach and share about the life that Christ offers us all.

Glorifying God by Building Laborers on the Campus for the Lost World.

Glorifying God The ultimate purpose of God and of all His creation is to bring attention to God or to glorify Him forever (Is. 43, Ps. 33, Ps. 115, Rom. 1 & 8, Eph. 1, Rev. 5). Because there is nothing and no one more valuable or important than God Himself, Campus Outreach exists that He may continually receive what He deserves and is due to Him… praise, honor, and glory from us as we find our joy in Him.

Building Laborers Jesus Christ once said, as he observed a large crowd of people, “The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few” (Mt. 9:37). It is the desire of Campus Outreach to work hand in hand with colleges, universities, churches, families, and individuals to produce these Kingdom leaders and laborers for which there is such a desperate need.

On the Campus Campus Outreach believes that the university campus is one of the most strategic fields of ministry available in the world. • Student Population Density on the campus is higher than many other places in the world, making it easier to meet and build relationships with more people. • Student Availability on the campus is greater than virtually any other place in the world or at any other stage in life. • Student Openness to ideas and hunger for knowledge is generally unequaled elsewhere in the world. • Student Potential for future impact in the world is incredibly high, when compared to any other people demographic in the rest of the world’s population.

For the Lost World Campus Outreach desires to be a part of the expansive enterprise of the Gospel of the Kingdom and the Glory of God that is being lived and preached and spread around the world to every people, tribe, tongue, and nation (Mt. 28:18-20, Mk. 13, Rev. 5). More specifically, we desire that trained graduates would provide leadership for the Kingdom of God in every sphere of influence imaginable in every country around the world.

Compelled by the Love of God... Committed to Following Hard After Christ 2 Cor. 5:14-15 "For the love of Christ controls us...that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised."

We value God’s love as the compelling motivation of our lives and believe that a true experience of His love leads to following Christ and no longer living for self.

Believing God’s Promises... Praying for God’s Action Matt. 9:37-38 "...The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few...”

We rely on God’s faithfulness to His promises. Therefore, we value prayer.

Developing Leaders Mark 10:43-45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

Just as Jesus did, we value the development of leaders. Leaders are those who, in the power of the Spirit, seek to lay down their life for the benefit of others.

Growing through Multiplication 2 Tim. 2:1-2 "You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach other also.”

We value the example of ministry through multiplication that is repeated over and over in Scripture.

Reaching the Lost Luke 19:10 "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

We value taking the Gospel to those who have not yet responded to Jesus’ offer of salvation.

In 1998 the CO team started sharing Christ with students at Khon Kaen University, 30,000+ students. In those years they have seen hundreds come Christ and trained in following Christ and sharing Him with others. As the ministry and staff team grew God led CO to expand to Northeastern University (also in Khon Kaen) in 2004. NEU is a private university of 6,000 students where CO has weekly Bible studies, CO club meetings, retreats and opportunities to build relationships. Nationalization - In 2012 CO Khon Kaen reached a milestone; the campus directors of both KKU and NEU are Thai nationals. Summer Projects - One of the most important events of our year is the Thai Summer Project, a time for new Christians to be trained in Bible study, prayer and evangelism. Each year the project has grown in depth and duration from just a short retreat to a month long, student-led discipleship program.

Covenant Church was planted in 1992 in Bangkok and 1998 in Khon Kaen by the CO team. The church continues to build laborers on the campus and reach out into the community.

God has always given the staff of Campus Outreach the passion to expand His kingdom. As God has blessed the ministry in Khon Kaen, the team has been led to launch a new CO ministry in the North of Thailand. With 18 provinces compromising the Northern Region there are well over 150,000 college students in this area. The key city in this region is Chiang Mai and the expansion team will land there in August 2013. Why Chiang Mai?

เมื อ งเชี ย งใหม

• 2nd largest city in Thailand with 1,000,000 people. • 5 Universities • Chiang Mai University • MaeJo University • Payap University • Chiang Mai Teaching University • Far Eastern University • 80,000+ college students at these 5 universities. All of these universities are within a 10 minute drive from the city center. Chiang Mai has the highest percentage of believers in the country of Thailand, still only 3%. Our hope is that those we share Christ with will have a better understanding of how they can be fully Thai and a follower of Christ. We are also committed to finding Thai churches with whom we can partner. Chiang Mai Videos Page www.cochiangmai.org

F I N A N C E S As CO seeks to build laborers in Thailand each of the staff are responsible to raise a team of prayer and financial partners to support their ministry. The Alward’s are trusting God to provide for the additional financial support needed in the launch of CO Chiang Mai.

“I love Campus Outreach. It is radically God-centered and radically in love with college students who need Christ. It is a growing global movement that I support with joy. To see the Chirst-exalting fruit that comes in the conversion and spiritual growth of students through the work of Campus Outreach is deeply satisfying.” Dr. John Piper Senior Pastor Bethlehem Baptist Church

“Because of Partnering with local churches, the potential for growth of the Campus Outreach Ministry is unending. As God continues to raise up like-minded churches, Campus Outreach will continue to expand.” Rev. Frank Barker III Pastor Emeritus Briarwood Presbyterian Church

“In all my years of involvement with campus ministries, I have never been impressed with one any more than Campus Outreach. The ministry exhibits a rare combination of strengths in evangelism, discipleship, and theology.” Randy Pope Senior Pastor Perimeter Church

“Campus Outreach is one of the most exciting ministies I have known. The students are committed to Christ and in love with people. I have to say that the leaders of CO whom I have met exemplify Christian leadership in their love for God’s Word and their service to the students. I highly recommend this ministry. Dr. Richard Pratt Professor Reformed Theological Seminary

“When it comes to sound Christian discipleship training at the college level, I know of only a few ministries that can even compare with Campus Outreach. I’ve seen first hand the fruits of their labor and I am proud to be a supporter.” Danny Wuerffel Heisman Trophy Winner
