Sorma, an italian leading company in distribution of tools for machining stone and glass and tools for metalworking industry, celebrates its 70 years in business
Launched in 1950 in Venice, Sorma is a corporation that works in 57 countries and has 100 employees including Office Workers, Logistics and Sales Team. The name Sorma takes originates from the combination of two founders’ family names, Alberico Sorgato and Zoe Marano. Its history began closely related to the Murano island with the supply of abrasive wheels and diamond tools for machining the prestigious Murano Glass. Sorma has constantly grown, year after year, and started its business in the metalworking industry in partnership with some important Japanese companies, such as Yamawa and Kyocera, which Sorma is currently still working with.

Over the years, Sorma has been playing a leading, innovative role in the field of abrasive tools, introducing, first in Italy, the flexible diamond cloth: mainly employed in the past in the optical industry, diamond cloth is now successfully used in several sectors, like stone and glass machining, aerospace and many other manufacturing industries. In the last 70 years Sorma got changed and raised its business, keeping alive the ancient Venetian commercial tradition of building constructive relationships with people and companies coming from all over the world.
The homeland has always been a fundamental boost to be innovative and to explore new horizons, both in prosperous and in difficult periods. Sorma has always been a family company, leaded by the heirs of the couple of founders: experencies has been handed down through generations, creating a virtuous circle of serenity and industriousness. Fastline LM and I-dia make a good team to machine marble,granite, porcelain tile, agglomerate and ultra-compact sinteredmaterials: Fastline LM flap discs for roughing and grinding; I-dia MXQRS discs for a perfect polishing. EP electro-plated disc series aredesigned for cutting and grinding marbles, limestone and materials likeengineered stones, fiberglass and carbon fiber.
