Frank Marino

Drag queen extraordinaire brings iconic role to Tropicana Las Vegas Two Las Vegas entertainment institutions are currently colliding at the Tropicana. Longtime headliner Frank Marino, famous for his impersonation of Joan Rivers and others in An Evening at La Cage at the Riviera and Frank Marino’s Divas Las Vegas at The Linq, is gearing up for a new show with a special guest appearance in Legends in Concert, the longest-running show on the Strip. Marino plays Rivers through Nov. 19 at Tropicana Las Vegas. I recently checked in with this unique Vegas icon to find out how this landmark collaboration was born and what tricks he has up his sleeves for the new show. How did this run in Legends in Concert come about? Believe it or not, we’ve been working on it for over 10 years, but every time we wanted to do it the timing wasn’t right. I was available, then they were available, and back and forth, and finally we figured it out. This is the longestrunning show on the Strip and I’m the longest-running headliner, so the marriage is perfect. I’ve always been a huge fan and I’m constantly going to see Legends. So you’ve seen it since it opened at the Tropicana? Oh yes, I like to go a couple times every time the lineup changes. It’s really the same business I’m in, so I like to see how they do things, and it’s just a fun evening. Not to sound hokey, but we like to think of it as three legends together for the first time, the show, the hotel and me. This is going to be the last time you perform as Joan Rivers. How difficult will it be for you to say goodbye to this iconic character? I tried to take Joan out of my Divas show a few times and every time I took it out, people would write letters: “Oh, we love it. Just do a little bit.” I think Legends is where

12 9.15.19 LasVegasMagazine.com

it needs to be. There’s actually a clip from 27 years ago on Joan Rivers’ show where I predicted this. She said, “What would you do if I died?” And I said, “I guess I would have to join Legends in Concert.” And she fell off her chair laughing. So, of course, I saved that clip. To me, she will always be the queen of comedy. All that said, it’s a great honor to close the character in Legends. And I think after 35 years I’ve actually made a name for myself, so in the next show, I’ll be the star I’m impersonating. What can you tell us about your new Divas Las Vegas show? It will be the same type of show I’m always doing, in a smaller cabaret venue in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. I don’t want to say where yet. My plan is to announce it on my birthday, the day after my last night in Legends, Nov. 20. I’m all about Legends right now and what I’m really excited about is going in stress-free and only having to worry about my own act. But my new Divas show is going to be something new that has not been done before and I’m excited about that. It’s so out of the box. When people see it they’re going to ask, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

You’ve been performing here for more than 30 years. What’s it like to be a pioneering performer of drag, an art form that is surging lately? Unfortunately, I see a lot of people trying to do it but then they close. It really takes a lot more than a

pretty face to make it work; you need backing and a talented cast and a lot of different things working together. I’ve been very lucky to be able to gather these things over 35 years. You’ve got to put your time in and take your knocks. It’s a tough business.

Around the Strip Brock Radke is an award-winning entertainment reporter who has been covering the city since 2000, and interviews key movers and shakers on his All The Vegas podcast, available at allthevegas.com.

The voice returns One of the most powerful pop voices of any era is back for more Vegas. Christina Aguilera returns to Zappos Theater for five shows as part of her The Xperience residency this month, starting on Sept. 20, as there’s a good chance she’ll continue to diversify her set list. Aguilera is too easily categorized as just a pop princess when she’s

dabbled in disco, electronic music, R&B, hip-hop, big band and more. “I am musically inspired by so many people,” she said during her first Strip run this summer. “For this show I was very inspired by scores from movies and … how I wanted to take people on this ride and (take) it to this cinematic level.” All we can say is: Enjoy the ride.

Must-See Santana Carlos Santana is wrapping up his seventh year as a Las Vegas headliner at the House of Blues (where he hits the stage again Sept. 18-29) and the legendary guitarist continues to elevate his performance. This year he’s added new music from his latest album, Africa Speaks. “We want people from all over the world to come (to Las Vegas) and witness something (they) don’t have over there,” he told me right before the record’s release. “Not too many musicians really bring it. We play 150 out of 100. I’m not boasting, I’m just saying it’s all about intensity of spirit. It’s something that the world needs right now, some effervescent joy.”

Shin Lim returned to the Strip for more sold-out shows at The Mirage recently, and the rising star magician and America’s Got Talent champ took some time out to catch Hans Klok: The World’s Fastest Magician at Excalibur. The Las Vegas Aces notched a big come-from-behind victory in front of one of its loudest and craziest crowds ever at Mandalay Bay Events Center in its final regular-season home game of the WNBA season, defeating the Los Angeles Sparks in front of 8,430 fans. Maybe the team got a little extra boost from a halftime performance from Terry Fator, who sang a two-song duet with his new David Bowie puppet. Lady Antebellum wrapped up its 15-show residency at the Palms’ Pearl Theater recently with a stripped-down, intimate set in the middle of the concert featuring guest appearances by songwriter friends. “It’s hard to believe that this chapter has come to an end,” said Lady A’s Hillary Scott. “Every touring opportunity we’ve had has led us to Vegas and having this residency has been such a milestone in our career. It was a bittersweet feeling to step on that stage for the last time, but, my goodness, has it been a gift.” R&B artist Trey Songz celebrated the 10th anniversary of his hit album Ready with a show at Drai’s Nightclub at the Cromwell. He was joined onstage by rappers Jeezy and 2 Chainz to perform several songs while boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, producer and artist Akon and hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd were spotted in the crowd.

He may be known as the Dog Whisperer, but Cesar Millan is far more than just a guy who gets troublesome dogs to behave. Millan, who achieved national fame thanks to the Dog Whisperer TV series that ran from 2004-’12, has parlayed his dog-training expertise into a multimedia empire, including TV series, books, live shows, a magazine and a foundation that supports animal shelters and animal rescue. Now Millan is embarking on a new project in Las Vegas, a stage production that brings his unique life story directly to audiences, going deeper than just his connection with animals. Cesar Millan—My Story: Unleashed comes from the producers of Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, which started in Vegas before becoming a hit on Broadway and on tour, and it offers a similarly intimate look at its star’s life. Millan, who was born in Mexico and came to the U.S. at age 21 with virtually nothing, will recount his inspirational rise to success and the lessons he’s learned along the way. –Josh Bell

spotlight we’re talking about doing a spin-off where I’m actually going to do a Broadway show based on my life, and part of it will be the essence of what you see at Smith Center. So the show at The Smith Center has evolved. You take it where you want it to go … Yes. Exactly. Now we’re writing a book to it, to actually have a Broadway sit-down show. Will Stephen Schwartz contribute music? Yeah, Stephen Schwartz is going to contribute. We’ve got Joe Calarco working on the book. We’ve got (choreographer) Josh Bergasse. Talented man, talented. Would that be your first time back to Broadway since Wicked? Oh, yes. I was in Wicked. Played the Wizard, with Shoshana Bean, and we introduced a woman named Megan Hilty. Not to give too much away, but are you doing “When I’m 64” in the current show? We play around with that. I think it’s time now that we recognize the songs we sang then … I’m living those songs now. (laughs) I am. I’m past 64! So we gotta celebrate. You have a lot of history with Vegas. Yeah, I do. Matter of fact my first show (Sweet Charity) was with Juliet Prowse. We opened in a little place. It was a coffee shop called Caesars Palace. Bob Fosse directed it, and we opened Caesars Palace with our first show. I think it was the first Broadway show that came to Las Vegas. I’m pretty sure it was. What was your first starring role on Broadway after that? A show called Jesus Christ Superstar. It was my first Broadway show, although I came back to Broadway to do a little stint in Hair. Bob Fosse heard I was up for a Tony. He called me and put me in Pippin.

out Sept 20-22. He spoke recently to Las Vegas Magazine’s Matt Kelemen. You’ve been doing this particular production for six or seven years now, right? Yeah, but it’s still in development. Matter of fact,

What is it like to have a sudden uplift like that in your career? You had no idea where things would lead when you started. I didn’t enter this career thinking about hit shows. It was about employment. (laughs) It still is. I’ve been blessed to meet people like Tom O’Horgan, Bob Fosse, Hal Prince. Michael Peters. They had faith in me and my talent.

Songs and Memories Over the course of almost six decades, Wayne Newton has given his all during every show to give audiences what they want, singing his greatest songs and playing more than a dozen instruments, making it impossible for anyone to deny his commitment. Now Mr. Las Vegas is back, only this time he’s connecting in a different way—relaying stories from his life in Wayne Newton: Up Close and Personal. Whether discussing becoming a musical icon while still in his early 20s or breeding Arabian horses, he’ll have more than enough material to keep audiences enthralled. And Newton might play a few tunes to remind everyone of his impact on American music, from “Danke Schoen” to “Daddy Don’t You Walk So Fast.” This show guarantees a side of him you’ve never seen, or heard, before. –Ken Miller

Let the Music Inspire Michael Jackson ONE doesn’t just use the late King of Pop’s music as the soundtrack for a typically dazzling, inventive showcase of acrobatics and dancing. The show is all about Jackson and a storyline inspired by his conflicted relationship with fame. Even before the show formally begins, performers dressed as paparazzi roam the theater in a playfully exaggerated imitation of the constant media attention that troubled Jackson throughout his life. Although his struggles are an important element of the show, it’s primarily a celebration of the inspirational power of

The four main characters discover their inner strength on a journey through Jackson’s catalog of hits, witnessing and participating in intricate numbers set to enduring classics like “Beat It,” “Bad,” “Black or White” and more, from Jackson’s childhood days in the Jackson 5 to his more eccentric late-career work. Hot to Trot

Keeping it Strong Aerosmith has been one of the biggest acts in rock ’n’ roll since the 1970s. During that decade, a bluesy, low-fi, guttural sound defined the songs of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford. Toys in the Attic will always be considered one of rock’s greatest albums, with cuts like “Sweet Emotion.” Of course, by that time the band had already found monster success with its cover of “The Train Kept A-Rollin” in 1974 and the epic “Dream On” in 1973.

The ’80s saw Aerosmith shade towards glam metal and become music video stars with “Love in an Elevator” and “Rag Doll.” The band also caught a dose of hip-hop credibility as they teamed up with RunD.M.C. for a remake of “Walk This Way.” Then the ’90s came along and the band reinvented themselves again, as masters of the power ballad. “Cryin’” hit that sweet spot, while “Livin’ on the Edge” edged the line between ballad and straight-up rock song. Catch them now and span the decades with Aerosmith. –Jason Harris

A Raucous Blast After a short trial run in Vegas, the genre-busting production Cherry Boom Boom went on the road. Criss-crossing the country, they set hearts a-sizzle with their own brand of stars-and-stripes titillation. Now they’re back, with the all-new American Woman: A Rock N’ Roll A Go-Go at Hooters. Acrobatic dance numbers feature performers leaping from the stage and filling the showroom. At other times, performers swing from the ceiling and crawl across tables. An energetic soundtrack from the likes of Morphine, Guns N’ Roses and Jack White will blast you out of your seats. So hold on tight ... Cherry Boom Boom is the absolute bomb! –Sam Novak

“X” Burlesque (Flamingo, 702.777.2782) is no mere exercise in titillation. These women have serious athletic skills, making jaws drop with their displays of balance and power. Bite of Nostalgia Oscar’s Steakhouse (Plaza, 702.386.7227) has nailed that nostalgic feel, celebrating the spirit of how Vegas used to be. Start with Johnny Quinn’s crab cake. The fresh lump crab meat is front and center with stone ground mustard and remoulade for dipping. Spilotro flat-iron steak and Nicky’s roasted chicken highlight the main event, but if you’re looking to go big, you can’t go wrong with Jonny’s 44-ounce tomahawk chop. – Las Vegas Magazine Staff

Topgolf isn’t just a place for some friendly games for the whole family; a big part of the 105,000-square-foot complex’s appeal lies in the extra amenities inside. If you’re yearning for some adults-only fun, Topgolf’s third and fourth

floors are open to those 21 and over. On the third floor, you’ll find Topgolf’s Hideaway Pool. Since it’s still pool weather in Vegas, jump on in to the cool waters or relax on a half-submerged lounge chair; there’s also plush cabanas, a full bar area and a DJ to keep the party lively. There’s also live DJ sets on Sundays during Topgolf’s popular Mimosa Summer Sundays—from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. enjoy a delicious brunch menu, $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys, all set poolside. On the fourth floor, there’s more water to splash into and another bar; there’s also a private suite available for an extra-luxurious VIP experience. You’ll also find more hitting bays on both floors if you prefer to show off your golfing skills,

and if you’re new to the experience, a golf pro will be nearby to help you with your swing, answer questions and provide golf tips. Other highlights include a restaurant that serves classic American cuisine with a twist; a music venue that accommodates up to 900; and a total of five bars, meaning a specialty cocktail or cold brew is never far from reach. On Monday nights, take a break from practicing your swing and try your tossing skills at cornhole. You and your buds can team up for the cornhole tournaments and compete for prizes, like a Topgolf VIP experience. –Kiko Miyasato 4627 Koval Lane, 9 a.m.-2 a.m. daily. 702.933.8458

Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill will get your afternoon started right When it comes to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, it might be tempting to think that you are stuck with a fine-dining scene and the foofaraw that entails. Although you can certainly find that at his two fine-dining restaurants in Vegas, Hell’s Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay Steak, you might be surprised to find out that

28 9.15.19 LasVegasMagazine.com

Ramsay also operates other venues that you won’t need to dress up for, including Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill. The casual environment here is a good representation of the pub, with an interesting décor that stacks kegs around the walls. Seating is comfy, and a number of chairs have

oh-so-cute dog pics embossed on the fronts. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. (and that’s when the bar opens, too). Start your lunch off with a cocktail or two, like Avon Came Upon Sin, a refreshingly light sip of Ketel One cucumber and mint vodka, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, rhubarb and lemon juice. The

Park Lane

Fish and chips

Park Lane is a pretty little thing with Empress gin, Fever-Tree tonic water and adornments of juniper berries, thyme and lemon, making the typical gin and tonic soooo delicious. The drink menu has plenty of options for wine lovers and, of course, for those who enjoy a pint, everything from Magners to Chimay and

Guinness, and several local brews, as befits a proper pub. If your appetite is light, order a Scotch egg or pigs in a blanket, both served with HP sauce. The Scotch egg features a bright yellow and white egg standing out against the thick layer of sausage. If you fancy one

of Ramsay’s signature dishes, try it here, from seared diver scallops to the classic beef Wellington. But you can also get a corned beef brisket Reuben—it’s pretty darned thick, accompanied with Gruyère and sauerkraut on rye. Fish and chips is a U.K. fave, and here the cod is light, the breading not overly crisp, and the fries thick-cut, as they should be. Dig into mushy peas with mint, and that simple combo will surprise you with its goodness. Accompany those esteemed dishes with flavorful side dishes like the forest mushrooms with poached egg, three-cheese mac and cheese or crispy Brussels sprouts. The poached egg is wonderful when released over the dish of mushrooms, and the sprouts have the unusual addition of a sriracha glaze, bacon and pickled onion. With the cheesy, cheesy mac, you could make your meal right there. Unless you need dessert, of course, and being at a Gordon Ramsay venue, how could you not order the sticky toffee pudding? It’s a rich, ooey-gooey cake that works perfectly with the vanilla ice cream it’s served with. You might try the chocolate Wellington or the strawberry trifle, but are you sure you want to stray off the toffee path? Didn’t think so.

Clenique Williams-Nilsson

Operations manager lets creative side shine and sparkle For Clenique Williams-Nilsson, it’s all about creating a dynamic environment and connecting with her guests. As the operations manager for Greene St. Kitchen—and the creative director for its Saturday brunch, Brunch’n—it’s also about hard work and hospitality. “We make sure that when you’re in Vegas, if you chose to come and spend your time with us, then you’re going to have the experience of a lifetime,” Williams-Nilsson says. “We make sure that the food is phenomenal; the chefs back there are making magic.” Growing up in Texas, Southern hospitality was instilled in Williams-Nilsson from a young age; she also worked in her grandma’s barbecue joint—and learned the meaning of hard work. She studied kinesiology and Eastern medicine at Texas A&M University, which in turn taught

30 9.15.19 LasVegasMagazine.com

her how to connect and help people on a deeper level. She then took her creative talents to L.A., where she got into TV and film. That’s where she made the Clique Hospitality (owners of Greene St.) connection. She made the move to Vegas a few years ago and eventually was hired by Clique to help open the restaurant. “I’ve been given the opportunity to shine, to show my creative side,” Williams-Nilsson says. And Brunch’n is where she really sparkles. “It’s fun, it’s loud, it’s lots of drinks, food, it’s Jell-O shots, it’s models. I’m super into glitter and sparkles, so the Brunch’n party is my playground. During the day, it’s different energy. I love interaction with people, getting the feedback about the vibe. Hospitality is our forte and me being from Texas—it’s all about the hospitality.” –Kiko Miyasato

Greene St. Kitchen wanted the cocktails to be as big and loud as the graffiti is that fills the walls of the restaurant. And all the names for the specialty cocktails are graffiti slang—The Rook is like a trusted member of the crew, a guy you can rely on. The Rook is also one of those cocktails that will turn heads because of its presentation. While it might look exactly like flowers in a pot, it’s in fact quite tasty! A mix of simple syrup (with fresh herbs like basil, mint, dill and thyme) and fresh lime juice and Bombay Sapphire gin, it’s like a ginsour-meets-mojito, with a fresh, herbaceous, light and bright taste. –KM

The Power of Three

Restaurant offers a variety of flavorful trios Why have one when you can enjoy the variety of three? That’s the philosophy behind Flights (Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort, 702.268.7264), a restaurant expansion from Northern California that has landed on the Strip. The focus is on shareable, high-quality comfort food, and most items are offered as a trio. For example, the flight of fries features three variations: truffle, herbed, and sweet and smoky. There are similar variations on shrimp, ceviche, dips and pita and even salad, and the

cocktail menu offers flights of mojitos, daiquiris, mules, martinis and more. The kitchen elevates the menu with a variety of international flavors, such as house-made falafel with tofu tahini, Mexican street corn and Korean chicken. Vegetarian options include a Beyond Beef burger and Soyrizo street tacos, while dessert includes flights of cheesecake and beignets. The Flights theme is also aesthetic, with an airplane hanging from the ceiling and servers dressed as flight attendants. –C. Moon Reed

Sushi gets social at Boathouse Asian Eatery (Palace Station, 702.367.2481), where you don’t have to stick to the Japanese seafood snack while sharing a meal and some cocktails. The menu offers all your favorite sushi and sashimi options plus specialty rolls like the World Series with spicy shrimp tempura, tuna tataki, salmon and tempura onion. But an extensive selection of varied Asian small plates keeps things interesting, from spicy crab salad wonton-shell “tacos” to seared Hokkaido scallops in a creamy sherry corn sauce. –Brock Radke

#trending The New York City burger institution now has several locations around the Las Vegas Valley, but with fall’s impending arrival, the place to be will definitely be the Shake Shack on the Strip (New York-New York, 725.222.6730), a hot spot for hockey fans before or after games at nearby T-Mobile Arena. Of course, the go-to is the Slap Shot, a cheeseburger with a double dose of provolone, crispy fried pickles, onions and garlic mayo. Get some bacon cheese crinkle-cut fries on the side. –BR

THE CREATIVE ARTISTS at Cirque du Soleil are always looking for new ways to upgrade their larger-than-life shows and enhance the audience experience in their Las Vegas theaters. If you’re a frequent visitor and have seen any of these dazzling productions more than once, odds are you’ve noticed those upgrades, however slight they may be. There are always minute changes, tweaks, twists and turns that you probably don’t remember from your first visit, but those are the elements that keep the Cirque

experience fresh and create even more lasting memories for the audience. Subtle adjustments that make a big difference have been essential in the fascinating longevity of Mystère. The show at Treasure Island marked 25 years in December 2018 and remains one of the most popular productions on the Strip, as well as a personal favorite of dedicated Cirque du Soleil fans. Its acrobatics and artistry have been hailed as some of the most groundbreaking and influential acts in the history of

Las Vegas entertainment, and each scene builds a colorful, cinematic landscape in the mind that’s impossible to forget. One of those iconic acts went untouched for the first 23 years of the show’s enduring run. One of the closing segments of Mystère showcases many of the fabulously wild characters you’ve gotten to know throughout the course of the show—including the whimsical Red Bird, the adorable Baby Girl and the exuberant Laquais, considered the footmen of the Mystère universe—in a fast

frenzy of acrobatics. These athletic artists take to the air thanks to a teeterboard they use to catapult each other across the stage and a series of trampolines arranged like a runway. Though the cast members may have changed through the years, they took the same positions and executed the same daring sequences from 1993 up until July of 2016, when Cirque elevated the experience for everyone involved. The installation of a new teeterboard allowed the acrobats to vault up to 23 feet

in the air using only the power of their own bodies and momentum, 10 to 12 feet higher than in previous performances. The flips and twists are higher and faster, and the choreography is breathtaking. And since this act occurs after aerial performances and some of the more comedic turns of Mystère, it serves as a crucial connection point by bringing the action directly in front of the audience and tying together the show’s dreamlike story. It’s frenetic yet harmonious and it leaves you wanting more, no matter

how many times you’ve seen it. And if you have some kids in your group, be prepared for wide-eyed wonder and possible requests to start gymnastics classes. That’s just one of the elegant, magnificent pieces that make up Mystère. Cirque du Soleil has clearly crafted this show to feel infinitely new and inspiring, a seemingly impossible task that this cast and crew pulls off twice nightly. If you’re ready to embrace the unimaginable, you’re ready to go back to the ever-expanding world of Mystère.

iHeartRadio Music Festival brings incredible talent to Vegas stages

Miley Cyrus

Alicia Keys

By Matt Kelemen It’s been eight years since the iHeartRadio Music Festival established a legacy of creating eclectic lineups of top acts, both rising and established, for what’s become an annual event in Las Vegas. This year, with T-Mobile Arena as the main stage, Alicia Keys, Backstreet Boys, Cage The Elephant, Camila Cabello and Chance the Rapper share a bill with Def Leppard, French Montana, Halsey and Heart. Fans of H.E.R., Hootie & The Blowfish and Marshmello mingle with Miley Cyrus devotees, Mumford & Sons and Steve Aoki, while those drawn in by Tim McGraw or Zac Brown Band get exposure to actor/singer Darren Criss or K-pop clan Monsta X. Some of the acts are no strangers to the festival, and have provided it with some of its most memorable 42 9.15.19 LasVegasMagazine.com

moments. Keys performed onstage with Jay-Z at the inaugural iHeart fest in 2011, and it shouldn’t come as a complete shock this year if her 9-year-old son Egypt joins her set for a piano duet. This will be Cyrus’ third year, while Zac Brown Band iHearted in 2014 and Cage the Elephant played the Daytime Village stage in 2016. The Daytime Village was at a new location last year at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on the north end of the Strip, across from Sahara H.E.R Las Vegas and with The STRAT featured prominently in the northern skyline. Last year, festivalgoers were thrilled by outdoor performances by the likes of Logic, Greta Van Fleet and Bad Bunny. The 2019 roster includes Billie Eilish, Brett Young, Bryce Vine, CNCO, Fletcher, Juice Wrld, Lauv, Loud Luxury, Maren Morris, Old Dominion and Zara Larsson. Canadian DJ duo Loud Luxury was a recent addition to the daytime stage, and H.E.R. and Monsta X perform double duty with appearances Marshmello on both festival stages. Monsta X and Criss, a former Glee cast member who received critical praise for his lead role in Netflix’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, are scheduled to make guest appearances with Aoki, while country singer Kane Brown is set to sing his collaboration with EDM enigma Marshmello, “One Right Thing.” The iHeart Radio Music Festival has had its share of surprises. In 2012, Prince joined Mary J. Blige for two songs. Pink appeared with No Doubt that year as well and returned in 2017, when Bebe Rexha guested with David Guetta. Nicki Minaj brought out Ariana Grande in 2014, who in turn brought out Childish Gambino during her own set (and came back in 2016). Halsey There’s no way to predict the unexpected, but there are some serious veteran bands whose musicians can sit in on each other’s sets. Chance the Rapper has a long list of artists he’s collaborated with, and an invitation to Miley Cyrus from the Backstreet Boys would beget an unforgettable iHeart moment. But remember: The only way to be surprised is by being there.

Our daughter’s dying wish to share her diary and save lives from drugs Available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Walmart.

“Our daughter’s legacy is that her death will save thousands of other people’s lives.” That’s the promise from her parents, David and Jackie Siegel. Carrying on Victoria’s legacy is their reason for publishing their daughter’s diary—teen slang, bad language and all. At 18, Victoria Siegel died of a drug overdose. Right after Victoria passed away, Jackie received a text from one of Victoria’s friends directing her to check her bedroom nightstand for a secret diary she had kept, and suggesting they publish it. The Siegels decided to honor Victoria’s last wish.
