SEE SOMETHING? SAY AND DO SOMETHING • If you think someone is in trouble, but you are not sure – see if the person nearest to you thinks there is trouble. If so, call the police. • If alcohol or drugs are a concern, we have a medical amnesty policy. • Do not step in between two people engaged in a physical altercation. •

Use your voice to ask Are you OK? Are you safe?

• Please do not assume that someone else will get involved. You would want someone to help if it was you or someone you love. • For emergencies: call Mason Police at 9-1-1 • For non-emergencies: call Mason Police at 703-993-2810 Have a question? ABOUT AFFIRMATIVE CONSENT • George Mason University is an “affirmative consent campus” – this means that all students have the right to attend without fear of discrimination. • One has obtained affirmative consent when consent is: • Informed (knowing) • Voluntary (freely given) • Active (not passive) Have a question? PREVENTION IS KEY • Many instances are preventable if you simply take the time to talk, listen, and get permission to proceed. • The best way to prevent sexual assault or intimate partner violence is to communicate with your partner about your expectations or desires and seek affirmative consent at every interaction, for every activity. • If alcohol or drugs are involved, be sure that they are able to provide affirmative consent; if you are not sure, walk away!
