In order to have both a commercial and residential program within one building, we had to think vertically. We split up the construction type into Construction II and Construction IV. From there, we created a plinth that split up those construction types. Anything above the plinth was strictly residentially and anything below was public. N

ALTER EGO // SECOND SKINS
At the start of the semester, the studio was tasked to create prosthetics that embodied BODY talk
Alterations in position of the human anatomy are complex and highly calculated. The anatomy functions as a total machine- perfect in execution and efficiency. Introducing movement into such complex mechanisms creates an organic design unlike any in existence. With each necessity of movement, a new intricacy is created in the form of joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. There is complete harmony in the movement of human anatomy, and it deserves to be studied alongside the art it inspires. There are countless opportunities created by the human machine in every discipline imaginable, it just takes a trained eye to appreciate its beauty.

ourself. The question that my teammates investigated was how does an individual protect themselves from external harms? We began by researching and diagramming the weakest points of the body. From there, we created a body suit that protect the body from any external forces. We then performed the alter ego body suits in Las Vegas and Death Valley.

GUN METAL DISCO FIELD NOTES
There is nothing more tantalizing to the imagination of form than the evolution of the human body. Bipedalism, fine motor skills, the ability to form speech- what perfect ways to base the evolution of space. Human anatomy evolved in ways that aided adaptation to the ever-changing world. The difference between connecting to the ground by four points or by two explode into ideas of form that were never previously explored. The thumb itself is a gateway into design that separates the godlike from the mere mortals. The human anatomy is a work of art, but before it was art, it was a work in progress. There is a much to learn from the progress as there is the finalization.

Create Long Lasting Memories...
With the concept of manufactured nostalgia in mind, I approached the design of the motel to have an extreme level of kitch. From a distance, a 40 feet tall neon motel sign hangs above the long building, which stretches about 800 feet long along with a 775 feet pool hugging its side. Each
ADJUSTABLE LOUNGE CHAIR 3 PER MOTEL ROOM
775 FEET LONG POOL POOLSIDE VIEW!
section of the motel uses 2x4 wood framing which reminisces the past. The exterior is cladded with green ceramic tiles which is a homage to tacky bathroom tiles. Vertical blinds are used as an exterior shading system that can be manipulated in tandem with the sun. Everything from the office to the restaurant is kitch from top to bottom.
KIDDIE POOL 45” L X 45” W FAMILIY FRIENDLY!

34
PEEPHOLES As I continued to progress the concept of the kitch, I designed these wooden peepholes that I made out of 2x4 pieces of lumber and placed each drawing in the box. There are a total of 9 peepholes that were made and spatial place according to the direction of the images.
35
MOTEL ROOMS Each motel room was also designed with the
kitch
concept
as
well.
The
rooms
are plastered with bright and patterned wallpaper and have green turf as carpet. The bathroom is covered in plastic shower curtains from top to bottom. The peepholes allow for the viewer to engage with the rooms by looking into the peephole itself.

The Kill Bill Drill mimics the shape of a syringe which allows the individual to use their body as the center of gravity rather than

The
design includes plus-shaped chuck for ease of grip, a dust collector that also acts as a leveler, and a cord rack. The Kill Bill Drill is a representation for strong women and men alike. The drill is meant to empower those who use it.
