What is this International Training Seminar about? Our International Training Seminar “Facing the challenge: When we are played off against each other, we play together, still and again!” focuses on the phenomena of “Play-off” - how in our societies different groups of people are „played off“ against each other and how excluding and dividing effects challenge our communities. In many countries the political and public debate is dominated by angst, fear and “distribution conflicts”. Instead of playing WITH each other, people are played off AGAINST each other!
The activity supports young volunteers, civil society activist and young youth workers to develop concepts to deal with - or even better to avoid - a „play-off situation“ in their disadvantaged communities. The activity programme promotes a peaceful living-together and reminds us again of the inalienability of universal human rights and human dignity. The Training Seminar will be a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, working with methods of non-formal learning, and always in a spirit of intercultural mutual learning and understanding. And never boring! The workshops are accompanied by socio-cultural activities and cultural programme. The logo of the seminar was created by the project team during the preparatory meeting in February. Fitting the topic and current European policies of “divide and rule”, it depicts how people, being aware of “all equal - all different” can overcome walls in the spirit of understanding and solidarity…
The Training seminar will work at ways to challenge the fears and prejudices constructively and to find approaches and methods to support young people in their awareness raising towards more tolerance and solidarity.

We play for Inclusion and against Play-off! The Potential and power of Play, Non-Formal Education and Intercultural Learning
How we work together e.p.a. promotes methods of non-formal education. Our activities don’t include interesting boring papers or frontal lectures. We will work “hands on” through workshops and play-actions. There will be a few plenary sessions for introduction and essential inputs – as interactive and playful as possible - and lots of small group meetings, where the participants can share their ideas, concerns and ways of working. At the end of the week, there will be an evaluation and a feedback session and time for considerations about follow-up activities.
All participants are welcome to take responsibility for energizers, workshops and our inter-cultural programme! If you have good ideas and unhidden talents or you would like to share something with others: we are looking forward to your contribution! The seminar success also relies on your active participation and mutual support.
The working languages of the training seminar will be English – with some other languages if needed in “cochichos” (whispering corners). e.p.a. creates conditions to experience and share. We speak carefully, so that we can be translated easily into the other language. We are grateful for colleagues, who are happy to share their linguistic skills! There will be a list of keywords for our theme and debate and our Hungarian-speaking colleagues are prepared to “teach” us some new words. Please don’t hesitate to tell us if you need any other language support.
How can you prepare The Poster Everyone wants to know about your community, your project and the young people you work with. To present your project, we will provide a prepared poster (A1 size) and material (e.g. pens, glue…). You are invited to fill the frame and boxes with information, lots of colours, drawings and photos from your city and daily work. The poster will invite you to share the following information about your project: _Name of our project, City/ Country… _What do we do, who we work/ play with… _If you come as a tourist to our city, you will see _If you come to play with us in our community, you will see… _The “State of Play” of the young people we work with… _How are we played off against each other in our community … and how we face these challenges
Play Action A vital part of our programme is the International Play Action with the Youth Centre “H52” and children from the neighbourhood. It’s an opportunity to prepare and share a typical or favourite game …
