DADHIKRA – DHYAVAPRATHIVI, SURYA :
Sukta 4.38: ---
Dhyava Prathivi,Dadhikra.
Chhand: Trishtup.
1) “Hey Aakash - Prathivi! The philanthropic King “Trasdashyu” obtained lot of wealth from you and gave it to those who desired and demanded the wealth. You had given horse and son to them. You had given a sharp weapon that could kill the Rakshashas/demons and defeat the opponents. 2) “Both Aakash and Prathivi supports Dadhikra (Agni/thermal energy having the form of a horse) who is capable of stopping many enemies like Bhupati (lord of the field) and protects all Manushyas. Dadhikra radiating specific glow of light, is valorous and moves with fast speed. [The Eagle Nebula bears verisimilitude with the description given above:
EAGLE NEBULA ( Dadhikra Deva has the head of a horse in human form)] THA EAGLE NEBULA IN RIG VEDA 3) “All Manushyas are glad and move speedily as if going downwards, like the brave jumping in all directions and moving like chariots with a speed as fast as the speed of Vaayu/solar wind in Antariksh (Trishtup Chhand). 4) “Their power reveals itself by the speed with which they move dropping the substances collected in the battle in all directions. They are the knower of the suitable work that is to be performed and do not allow the enemies of the Yajamaans to attain glory.
5) “ Just as people shout on seeing the thief of clothes, the enemies shriek on the battle field when they see Dadhikra Deva. Just as he birds fly away on seeing a hungry Baaj/hawk Manushya shout for the sake of Anna/food matter and Pashus/beasts shout on seeing Dadhikra Deva. 6) “He moves like a row of chariots with a desire to reach the armies of Rakshas/demons, He who help Manushyas looks like a beautiful horse. He chews the reins and licks the dust raised by his feet. 7) “In this way the horse is rich in Anna/particulate food, patient and proves the abilities of his body on the battlefield. He runs fast and makes the enemies to run fast. The dust raised by his feet settles on his eyebrows. 8) “People desirous of engaging war are afraid of Dadhikra who is a destroyer like an illuminated sound producing Vajra/thunderbolt. 9) “ Dadhikra Deva fulfiller of the desires of Manushya moves with speed filled with glory victory and the eulogizers while praising him say “ the enemies will be destroyed”. 10) ““Just as Surya causes rains by his Tej/radiance, Dadhikra Deva causes Pashchakrashti by Jal/plasma. May Dadhika Deva giver of thousands of desires give us blessings on account of the pronunciations of our eulogies for him. *********** Sukta 4.39 :---

Chhand: Trishtup, Anushtup.
1) “I (Rishi Vaamadeva) will worship the fast moving Dadhikra Deva very soon. And provide grass in front of him from near Aakash-Prathivi. Let the Usha (morning twilight) that removes darkness, protect us and save us from all difficulties. 2) “I am the performer of the Yagna. We praise Dadhikra Deva who showers for fulfilling all desires and is worthy of being emulated by many. Hey MitraaVaruna (Lords of light and plasma oceans, respectively)! You envelope Dadhikra the remover of sorrow for the sake of Manushyas that is like shining Agni/thermal energy. 3) “The Yajamaan who ignites Agni/thermal energy at Usha/morning twilight eulogize Dadhikra Deva having the form of a horse, are requested to save him from sins by Mitra, Varuna, Aditi and Dadhikra. 4) “Sing loudly the prayers praising Dadhikra Deva who make provision for Anna/Particulate food/plasma, conducts the powers and is the well-wisher of all. We invite Mitra, Varuna, Agni and Indra holds Vajra/thunderbolt for the sake of peace and happiness. 5) “Those who organize and conduct war and perform Yagna, both invite Dadhikra Deva like Indra does. Hey MitraaVaruna! For my ( Rishi Vamadeva’s) sake, kindly adopt the form of Dadhikra Deva having the form of a horse who inspires Manushyas.
6) “Associated with victory. I eulogize the all pervading and fast moving Dadhikra. May he keep intact our eyes mouth, other parts and senses. And elongate our age. ************** Sukta 4.40: --- .
Dadhikra, Surya
Chhand: Jagati, Trishtup.
1) “ We will worship Dadhikra Deva again and again. Let all the Ushas engage us in work. Jala, Agni Usha, Surya, Brahaspathi and Angiras belonging to the lineage of Vishnu extend full support. 2) “May Dadhrika who is clever, performs the work of providing food and sustaining. He is cleaver, inspires the cows to move and stays with the Parichayakas (persons who introduce) is worthy of fulfilling our wishes and providing Anna/food/particulate plasma at the time of Usha/twilight. He is capable of moving fast and reveals Anna/particulate plasma, power and the divine qualities. 3) “Just as all birds walk with their inherited gait, all the living beings are associated with fastness. All those who wish to get favors follow the pace of Dadhikra. All gather together around Dadhikra who is as fast as Shyena for protection. And all gather for the sake of Anna/food. 4) “ This Devata has the form of a horse. The neck part and mouth are tied up and he moves fast. Dadhikra is extremely dexterous and is capable of crossing zigzag paths to reach the Yagna. With face towards the Yagna he moves in all directions. 5) “ Situated in Aakash, Vaayu in Antariksh/space and Hotas and others reach the Vedi for Yagna. Worthy of respectability like Aditi, they reside in their houses. Ritu/seasons reside in Manushyas and Yagna. They are suitably born in the Jal, rays, truth and mountains”
