GoggleWorks Center for the Arts
A new year, and a new beginning. Working in the studio spaces more and more the last couple months has allowed me to experience the transformative impact of art first hand. Be it the struggles of learning something new and difficult, the “ah-ha” moment of finally getting the technique just right to render success, or even the reflective process that ultimately sends you back to try again. The creative experimenters I have had the joy of engaging have made my daily work that much more enjoyable.
In the studios, students have shared their stories about life before making. From longing or self-doubt, to depression and stress, students have shared struggles that prevented them from making art. Daily life can be a lot, and finding an outlet that is uniquely your own is so critical for the best version of you.
Maybe you’re more like McKenna who applied for a scholarship to make her first glass class more affordable, or Linda who has become a member to support the organization and commit to her participation in the arts long term. For these students, it wasn’t about becoming a world class artist. It was about using their time to make something cool that they were proud of. It was about setting aside time each week to curiously explore something new and break out of the daily drone. Joan even shared with me that for her, “Art making is the difference between surviving and thriving.” We want the same for you!
We are so grateful you are taking the first step to learn what creativity can do for you. We know how daunting it can be to take the first step. Our instructors have been there too, but they also have the expertise to get you through the first bold strokes and onto the creative maker you have always wanted to be. Now turn the page to explore and find the perfect creative experience for you today.
We hope to see you around the studio soon, Tim Compton Artistic Director

Metals can be joined with solder, but it is also possible to use a cold connection method. Rivets are not new, as the origin predates soldering. Rivets are simply solid or hallow fasteners. Cold connectors, like nail head rivets, can be simple or complex, visible or hidden, large or small. By utilizing nail head rivets, one enlarges the range of solutions for an assortment of joining projects.
