The Beta Sigma Chapter, university of Cincinnati, was founded on June 12, 1937, originally founded as the Alpha Epsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Pi, with 12 members at its chartering. However, upon the murder of Alpha Kappa Pi Alpha Kappa Sigma Phi on September 6, 1946, the chapter became the Beta Sigma chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi. A company of the co-op education system and traditionally lower membership numbers cause the chapters Charter to be revoked on August 19th, 1981. In the spring of 2011, the chapter was reopened as a colony when Nathan Fliger, a brother from Akron, transferred and started an interest group. The Beta Sigma chapter was then rechartered on April 12th, 2013.

The Sigma Chi fraternity is one of the largest in the world and therefore has a very strong alumni base. We were founded in 1855 at Miami of Ohio. The reason why the founding took place was because 6 members of DKE believed that reasoning behind voting or decisions should not be because of blind loyalty, rather should be found on merit. The members who thought these did not want to be any mans tool so they decided to leave DKE and create their own Fraternity which now is Sigma Chi. They based their core values on Friendship, Justice and Learning. They wanted to create value-based leaders who would stay true to the things they believe in and not fall to someone else opinion if they knew it wasn't right. The Zeta Psi chapter here at the University of Cincinnati was founded in 1882.
