Meet this month’s featured member, Rich Ferrero.
1. When did you join PCA?
I joined PCA in November 2022.
2. What Porsche(s) do you have?
I have a 1976 911S Targa in Ice Green Metallic.
3. Where are you from?
I have lived in the Phoenix Metro area since 1988. I am originally from New York.
4. Family?
My immediate family still resides in New York. In AZ it is only my wife and I with her Mom and step family living nearby.
5. Work background or trade?
Land Development Design, Planning & Landscape Architect.
6. What makes your car special?
It is essentially a single owner vehicle. My uncle bought the car new in 1976 (I was 6 years old). It has been a running joke in my family that he would ultimately leave it behind for me or my sister. Luckily, he has decided to do so while he’s still with us, so he can enjoy watching it live a second life. It is all original with just over 25,000 miles. I plan on doubling that, so it can be the car it was always supposed to be. When I started it up the other day, I was transported back in time, as I recalled the sweet sound of that air-cooled, flat 6.
7. Next upgrade?
Cosidering the PCCM Head unit.
8. Have you personalized your car?
I plan on keeping as much of the car period correct. That said, some items may get a little updating or modernization (i.e.item 7 above). Most of the car will become my own through good old fashioned TLC and driving experiences.
9. Favorite memory with a car?
Listening to my uncle pull up in it during a family visit. I could tell “he brought the Porsche!!” from the sound alone. Didn’t even have to see it through the window.
10. Why did you buy your Porsche? See item 6 above. A rite of passage in some ways.
11. High school nickname?
My high school mascot: Bears. Nickname in my adolescent years was “Slip”.
12. Top 3 cars you would own?
The ‘76 Targa I now own and maybe a new GT3 for the pure fun of it. 3rd would most likely be a Ferrari: any one would do!
