Iknow I sound like a broken record, but if you want to participate in all the great events in the coming months you have to sign up! We even have the South Mountain Drive on September 19th, that has no limit on the number of participants. Also make sure to attend New Members’ Day on September 18th, whether you are considered a new member (last 24 months) or long time member, because it’s great to socialize with other Porsche enthusiasts and learn about your club. Besides the fact, that our club subsidizes the cost of this event!

This month’s Going Places issue is voluminous. You might notice some changes to the format and look because I incorporated some of the suggestions made by the judges in the 2021 PCA National Newsletter contest (Going Places issues submitted for the contest were September 2020 and October 2020). Just in case you missed last month’s editorial, I won Third Place in Class V in the newsletter contest for our region!

Here are just a few of the comments: • Clean and easy to read. • Banners at top of each section help with navigation.

• No full-page hero photos.

• The only editorial commentary is the President’s Letter and Editor Letter. Other officers contributed,

but there was no editorial commentary in the rest of the newsletter.

• Professional appearance in flip book format. A good variety of articles provided.

• Don’t be afraid of using photos to fill the page. • Don’t be afraid to use fonts as a graphic. • Use some big bold colors to break up the pages.

• Have the Membership Chair introduce the Meet a Member & include his/her picture.

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to write stories/articles and take pictures at our AZPCA events for Going Places, because without your participation there would be no monthly newsletter/magazine.

There are 6 feature stories this month, which has made it difficult for me to select the winner for the Writer’s Monthly Award. This month the winner for the Writer’s Monthly Award for Going Places is Chas Wirken for contributing “Return to Pikes Peak.” He will receive a $30. credit on MotorsportReg, which is good for one year to use on any AZPCA activity. Check out his story on page 28 and YouTube link. https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=VR8Q6E8MqEU

Looking forward to seeing you in person at one of our upcoming events. I will be at Members Appreciation Night, New Members’ Day and drive to South Mountain.
