POLITICAL VIEW OF JOSE MUJİCA (the world’s poorest president)
‘The thing is I have a way of life that I don’t change just because I am a president I earn more than I need, even if it’s not enough for others.’
We are living plastic and ‘modern’ world which has many ‘modern system’ and people of this system. We didn’t make this system, when we born they give us lifestyle and many excess. If somebody asks you ‘ How should be a president ?’ To me, we answer ‘ Charismatic, strong, serious and he / she puts on luxury dress etc.’ Jose Mujica is a total opposite person them, he isn’t charismatic, strong, serious or he doesn’t put on Prada or Armani. He was elected as president of Uruguay in 2009 and he started his duty 1st of March 2010. He was a guerilla, he struggled for Tupamaros which is a group influenced from revolution of Cuba. And he spent 20 years of his life for this struggle. He was shoot six times and he spent 14 years in prison. He robbed, abducted and bombed. If you look superficial this crimes, you can hate him, but when they robbed after that they shared to poor people all thing and abduct was a retortion, answer for their friends who are abductee. Now, he is a ‘ the world’s poorest president’. He donates 90 percent of his money for charities, orphans and poor people. And he doesn’t live in presidential palace, he lives in modest home which is his wife. Mujica actually is not a president, he is also part time farmer, he gardens after the working hours. He grows flowers and sells it.
Contrary to expectations, Mujica hasn’t got bodyguard, only two police officer next to him and he his real bodyguard is his dog, its name is Manjula and it has three legs. Almost, all president go to their office by their luxury cars but Mujica prefer his car which is blue 1987 Volkswagen Beetle also he hasn’t official chauffeur. He attract attention again in February, thanks to some accepting to laws. Marijuana and abortion are legal now, in Uruguay, and his government is working on same-sex marriage. He says ‘ If you need to take drugs to be free, then you are screwed. Freedom is your brain. Otherwise it doesn’t exist.’ ‘Drugs is a not danger, real danger is trade of drugs. So people can use drugs freely.’ This situation irritate to opposite party. And also some sources say this consents caused supports of his people decrease. But this result is not important for him because he cannot be candidate again because of the Uruguay laws. He announced he will entertain guest Syrian children his home. His duty will finish this year, people of the world will remember him, there was a modest president in the world and he was a symbol for people and ‘modern system’. Renowned Serbian director Emir Kusturica started shooting a documentary film about him. For him Mujica is the last hero of politics.
