Preparing the Horses As the day begins and you get excited for the Charriada you first have to go through these steps:
1st: Groom the horse until the dust is gone. 2nd: Add the saddle on top and tighten all the straps. 3rd: Put the bridle in place then pull the reins back behind the head. 4th: Mount the horse from the left side putting your left foot in the stirrup grabbing the reins with both hands .

Charros The competion begins as they enter the arena. It is all about how they go running down the aisle and stop but they have to make sure that when they stop they slide and don’t go past the square . Each team gets a turn & the teams earn points for each challenge. In the end, the team with the most points wins!

Escaramuzas The girls present a show by following a course. They earn points by not making any mistakes. This is a team effort. Each team has 8 riders. The judges determine which team is the winner!
