SUMMER BREAK By Nisha Ali Riley Roth : "Hey! I'm going to Young Life Camp this summer and I can't wait! I'm also working on some new music. My favorite thing about summer is going to the pool with friends" Tori Lynn: "I'm planning to spend my summer break recording my new album and continuing to perform in as many shows as possible. I also will be visiting my family in Rhode Island and going to the beach as much as I can on my downtime. The best thing about summer is that you get a break from school and have more time to accomplish the things you want to do and get done." A'layeah Joisanne: "For part of the summer I will be attending WEEN academy in New York. A four week crash course for young women interested in a career in the entertainment industry. It's taught by leading celebrities in the industry as well. I also plan on working on a short film & networking! My favorite thing to do in the summer is traveling different places & hanging out with friends."

JUNE 2014

Tiffany Houghton is Nashville's newest upcoming Pop Sensation.. She is a native of Dallas TX. She relocated to Nashville, at the age of 17 to pursue a career in the music industry., which meant she missed homecoming & prom. Tiffany also has her hand in acting & broadway. We got to sit down with this awesome person and get to know more about her!

" Whoever is trying to drag you down is already beneath you " Q: As a child, when did you know music was going to be something you wanted to do?." A: I remember listening to Shania Twain's album Come On Over, and declaring to my parents (at 6 years old) that I would be a famous singer someday." Q: Growing up, did you sing and write all the time? A: "Yes! My parents say that I could sing before I could talk. I would hold concerts in my front yard and invite all my neighbors! I also started regularly writing in a journal when I was 6 years old, and haven't stopped since!" Q: You said your parents support you all the way which is amazing, of course. How did they find out that you wanted to be a singer? A:"When I was 6 years old, I remember walking into their bedroom, sitting them down, and telling them that no matter what I would be a famous singer someday. So it wasn’t so much about them “finding out,” it was more about me telling them!." Tiffany has appeared on Broadway. "I loved walking to and from rehearsals and auditions. New York is such an incredible city with so much life, and I loved walking around and taking it all in. Especially because the concrete in NYC is sparkly. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world!" Q: So 15 was the first time you went to Nashville, what was it like to experience such a music-based town and what made you want to move there? A: "I wanted to learn how to write really good songs. I wanted to find my voice as an artist. I just figured being there was the best thing I could do in order to start reaching my goals.."

C O N T I N U E D T I F F A N Y H O U G H T O N Tiffany missed Homecoming & Prom to move to nashville to pursue her music. "It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. A lot of people made fun of me and said really mean things about my music. In the moment, of course it hurt. But now - I’m so grateful for those people because every day I get to prove them wrong, and inspire my fans to ignore the hate." Q:What advice would you give to girls being bullied in high school or any grade level? A: 1) Find a passion and/or pickup a new hobby 2) Forget yourself in the service of others 3) Find someone else at school who sits alone or may need a friend 4) Keep yourself busy. I was bullied in high school, and I chose to volunteer in my community and learn how to play guitar. It took my mind off of the bullies and gave me a sense of purpose. Also! Remember that whoever is trying to drag you down is already beneath you! The bullies will end up washed up and working for YOU someday. Don't sweat it ;) .

Q: On August 13th, 2013, she released her debut single "High" on iTunes.Your first single “High” (One of our favorite songs) was written by you, Lance Kotara and Matt Dragstem. How did those lyrics come about? A: "I was telling my best friend about this perfect date I went on the night before when I said, "I don't know why they call it falling in love cause I've never felt so high." Then immediately I rushed off the phone, and wrote the lyrics sitting on the kitchen floor in my apartment. Funny how love can make you feel!" Q: “Love Like That” is such a great music video and song, it teaches girls how a guy is supposed to treat them. What was the driving force for that song? A: "I grew up watching my dad treat my mom like a princess. All I really want in life is to end up with a love like that. I want to encourage girls to raise the bar and boys to step it up. I believe in our generation! " Q: "17 again” is such a wonderful song, where did those lyrics come from? A:"I left my high school sweetheart back in Dallas to pursue my dreams in Nashville. It hurt so much to leave him and everything I knew behind. One night I didn't feel like being brave anymore, so I sat down and wrote everything I felt... Out came "17 Again".

"You have to be nice to yourself." Q: Where do the ideas for most of your songs come from? A: "All of my songs start in my journal. Everything in there comes from my personal emotions, my own real-life experiences, and my hopes and dreams. So I’ll start pulling ideas from my entries, get out my guitar, and put the two together." Q: Has there ever been a time where you just felt like giving up on music? If so, what kept you going and what advice would you give to other artists who run into those same issues? A: "There have been SO many hard times in this pursuit, but there's only one time I can remember feeling like giving up. It was when I had been in Nashville for about a year, and it felt like literally nothing was working; everyone had told me I wasn't good enough, and on top of that, I was SO LONELY. I remember bawling in my car and putting my Dallas address in my gps. I only made it 3 miles before I pulled over, and promised myself I would NEVER give up. My advice to other artists experiencing the same hardships would be to be patient. As soon as you accept that it's going to take a really long time and it's going to be really really hard, it gets easier :) Positivity is key. You have to be nice to yourself."

MOST COMMON GUY RELATED QUESTION YOU GET " if I have a boyfriend, haha! And yes - I love when my fans ask for advice. Us girls are all in this together!" Advice to Guy Readers On The Perfect Date " Outdoor activities are the best, so I would recommend something in the sunshine or the sunset. Make her laugh, and be a gentleman! " Something You Can't Go Out Without "My rings! I love jewelry, so if I'm going out, you better believe I'll have my bling on ;) ! " Hobbies Outside Of Music "I have always dreamed of living in LA with a baby blue bicycle. I made that dream come true last week! Riding my bike is my new obsession. ! " Favorite Store To Shop At "Varga! They have the best 50's / retro clothes. ! Weirdest Talent " I am a fantastic shooter. " Q: You seem like such a down to earth person even with thousands of fans! How do you stay grounded? A: "Oh gosh, I am just honestly so humbled when people like me or my music. It's about the fans, it's not about me." Q: I’ve read in an interview that your fans mean the world to you! What is your most memorable fan experience? A: "On my first college tour I remember meeting up with some of my fans who had gathered dozens and dozens of letters and fan artwork from all across the country for me. It was literally the sweetest thing! Those pictures and letters got me through so many lonely nights on the road. "
