Bordering Austria, Slovenia, and the beautiful Adriatic Sea, Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a true tourist haven. The beautiful region has the dramatic Dolomite mountains running through the centre which allows gorgeous views to be seen in every direction.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is also home to some of Italy’s finest white wines, with experts often describing them as some of the best wines found across Europe.

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a brilliant location to spend the kind of golf holiday that isn’t simply about golf. It’s an opportunity to explore, get away from the hustle and bustle of the more populated cities in what is an exceptionally relaxed and slower paced environment. Trieste, the region’s capital, is a must-visit city for visitors of all walks of life, and the architecture within the cities walls is incredible. On top of the fabulous culture, Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a great location for golf, with the Villaverde hotel and resort located in the hills of Fagagna. It is a leading eco-friendly and sustainable venue. First opened in 2016, this hotel has excellent spa and leisure facilities onsite as well as being located on the same complex as a championship golf course.

Although there is just one restaurant onsite, it offers guests traditional cuisine in a modern and spacious area. There is also the option to dine in the clubhouse just a few hundred metres walk from the main hotel. The spa and leisure facilities are excellent and continue to the eco-friendly theme.

All in all, Friuli-Venezia Giulia is the ideal location for a true golfing getaway.

From the Alps to the plains, from cultural cities to small villages steeped in history, the region itself is often referred to as ‘The Lakes’ home to both Lake Garda and Lake Como holding some of Europe’s most picturesque landscapes. Lombardy is also home to fabulous cities, the most famous of which being Milan, Europe’s home of fashion and design, and is the modern epitome of Italian grandeur. There is a wide variety of golf on offer, summed up in three incredible resorts in the area.

The first of which is the wonderful Monticello Golf Club which is home to two of the best courses in the region, the Red and the Blue, both of which are championship quality and have hosted Italian Opens and many other prestigious events. The golf club is the complete package with onsite gym, swimming

Toscana

Toscana (more commonly known as Tuscany) is home to the romantic city of Florence, a city full of renaissance art and architecture, you will fall in love with it from the moment you arrive. However, outside of Florence you will come across quintessential Italian culture and countryside, not to mention golf resorts and courses that are a must-visit.

Whilst there may be many places to stay and play in Toscana, we highly recommend three world-class resorts that are great for groups and couples during Spring and Autumn.

La Bagnaia Golf and Spa Resort is a true escape from the real world in the panoramic Tuscan landscape. Without taking too much away from the historical Tuscan architecture dating back to the 11th Century that the hotel is based in, La Bagnaia offers guests a modern authentically Tuscan holiday.

The Royal Golf La Bagnaia Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and closely resembles an inland links with strategically placed water hazards and bunkers. The clubhouse, where you can enjoy a cold drink after your round, overlooks the course and is not somewhere you would want to forget to bring your camera with the breath-taking views.

Another great option is the Toscana Resort

Castelfalfi, set in the exquisite surroundings of the Florentine countryside. Enjoy 27-holes of excellent golf at the onsite Golf Club Castelfalfi. The award-winning Mountain Course, which is playable all year round,

is a stern test for golfers of all abilities with multiple water hazards. It spreads across 6,946 yards in a Tuscan valley, where golfers can expect a technical challenge and some spectacular views along the way. A nine-hole layout, the Lake Course, is also available.

Argentario Golf Resort & Spa is the premium place to go in Tuscany. I regularly use Golbreaks and they always deliver a faultless product.

The staff are knowledgeable. What I like most is they are not pushy and don’t bombard you with repeated calls if you make an enquiry.

Recently went on a trip with Golfbreaks and it went like clockwork. A perfect trip away after a couple of years locked down. Couldn’t thank Golfbreaks enough for all their hard work, great trip. Couldn’t recommend them more.

They are professional, easy to work with and very responsive.

The courses and hotel they recommended were first class and pricing was very fair.

I recommend Golfbreaks without reservation!
