Wethersfield Country Club
Chippanee Country Club in Bristol, Ct. is a full-service country club, with a superb golf course, extensive tennis and pool facilities, and a first-rate restaurant. The pool area and snack bar are family favorites, and the tennis facility and programs are extensive.
Although the course plays to a par-70 from the blue tees (a modest 6,310 yards), Chippanee has small, challenging greens and tight narrow fairways. There are 33 sand traps throughout the course with water coming into play on the par-five fourth hole, the par-four 10th hole, and the par-three eleventh hole. The course is eminently fair and not overly tough, and a track that players of all abilities can approach without too much trouble, even higher handicap golfers.
The club offers a number of levels of membership, including family, limited family, single, social and senior. The club’s
Junior Golf Program is directed by PGA Golf Professional, Gary Sassu, who was voted the top junior teacher in the state of Connecticut in 2004.
The club’s dining room offers a scenic view of the first fairway, making it a great setting for a private function. There’s a cozy bar and covered patio off the bar, ideal for relaxing after a round on a warm weather day.
The course is in great condition thanks to an aggressive maintenance program, including sprinkler system updates, tree removal, reworking sand traps, and several new forward tees.
A clubhouse entry lobby and bathrooms were completely renovated, and they a new Grill Room-- twice the size of the former room, with an outside patio area including a fire pit.
