Summer is here, the weather is heating up and so is golf in our area.

A course I played a lot when I started playing golf in my early twenties was Galloping Hill in Kenilworth. It was a pretty beat up 27-hole facility that was always wet and had a fun par three course as well. But it has now been transformed into a championship 18-hole course, with a state-of-the-art club house and a top-notch driving range and learning facility. Located right off of the Parkway at exit 138 it is also home to the New Jersey State Golf Association. It is a “Must Play” for all golfers.
Golf Course Architect Stephen Kay is responsible for some of the best public golf courses that have opened in New Jersey over the last 30 years. Along with numerous restoration projects he has improved the game of golf for all of us. He’s one of the most knowledgeable guys in turf and architecture. New Jersey, one of the original, and main, birthplaces of the Game of Golf, has had many of the Game’s greatest golf course architects build courses here, and Stephen Kay is one of the very best to do so.

The Greg Norman course, designed by one of the game’s best-known stars, is flatter, playing along the Potomac, through hardwood forest, and past rocky outcroppings, and includes a four-hole stretch at the end that the Shark himself labeled “the hardest mile in golf.” But power isn’t the only prerequisite as the golfer will have to make plenty of strategic decisions and make careful club selections into the mostly raised
greens.
Both courses offer a choice of tees, making them suitable for all. New or non-golfers, as well as juniors, families, and really anyone else, will have a blast on Norman’s “Sharkbite” course, nine entertaining holes with enough charm and challenge to guarantee a good time along with stunning river views.

Walk…and Be Followed
Remote-Controlled Golf Caddies
are the
Rage
It’s hard to know for sure just how many golfers in the U.S. walk when they play. You’ve likely seen a few, and you might be an occasional walker yourself. But our own eyes tell us that carts are almost as big a part of the game as putting and cursing.
There are a number of strong arguments in favor of walking, starting with it’s better for your health. A recent study published in the European Journal of Sports Science reported that walking the course—whether carrying your bag or wheeling either a manual or electric “trolley” as the Brits call them—burns between 650 and 750 calories.
There’s also evidence that walking on grass, rather than driving on cart paths, sharpens your senses and appreciation for your surroundings as well as your skills. You just have to watch the PGA and LPGA Tour pros to understand how trodding the turf and using the experience to “feel” the conditions and prepare for the next shot is beneficial. Throw in the quiet, the energy, and the communing with nature and it’s no wonder playing the game on foot helps you play it better.
And yet, still we ride.
So how about we offer another reason to walk that’s rarely mentioned, but fits the growing appreciation for golf, notably by the millions of new golfers who’ve recently come to the game.
Done right, walking is more fun.
Not shlepping the bag, picking it up, throwing it over one or both shoulders, trudging to the ball, putting the bag down, and repeating that process 50, 60, or 100 times a round. If you want to have more fun, play golf with an electric trolley. Not one you have to push, but one that follows you like an obedient pet.

Galloping Hill Golf Course
Is A Must Play This Summer

If you’re looking for a terrific course to play some day, look no further than right off the Garden State ParkwaySouthbound, in Kenilworth. You can’t miss it, actually. Play Galloping Hill Golf Course.
One of two of Union County’s county -run golf courses, and home of the New Jersey State Golf Association, and site of the 2016 NJSGA State Open, Galloping Hill, is a terrific example of parkland-style golf with generous rolling fairways with several, and sometimes surprising, incredible elevations.
Known as New Jersey’s “home of public golf,”, Galloping Hill has a challenging, championship-scale course, that offers learning opportunities for all ages with three putting greens, a practice course, and all-weather driving range with world class
instructors. The state-of-the-art Clubhouse at Galloping Hill, which provides golfers and visitors with a top-quality playing experience and atmosphere which also includes The Hill Tavern sports bar overlooking the stunning, and lovely landscape of the gorgeous Raritan Valley.
Established in 1928 at the direction of course architect Willard Wilkinson, and formerly a 27-hole golf course, GH features 18 beautiful golf holes that have been renovated over its nearly 100 years by top architects Robert Trent Jones(1949), Alfred Tull(1953), Stephen Kay(1998) and Rees Jones(2013).
Elevation is maybe the main buzz word for Galloping Hill, and it applies both to the thrilling golfing experience that players will feel when they get to play there, but also literally with its many elevated tee boxes and greens along the way. Two terrific examples of GH’s elevation are its First and Tenth tee boxes, starting off two Par Fours measuring in the 300s with tee shots shooting straight down to narrow fairways. The 10th, which tees off almost right on the Southbound GSP, doglegs fairly severely down and to the right before straightening out. The second hole, meanwhile, goes straight uphill to an elevated green guarded by sand to the left and a massive False Front to the center and
right. Approach shots from anywhere within 130 yards will be played from a severe uphill lie. Hole No.3, which starts from right behind the 2nd Green, the highest point on the Property, a Par 4, plays like a short-to-medium sized Par 5 from what can feel like about 50 yards above the fairway into a prevailing breeze with a creek running across the run to the green.
Soon after that, there is the straight up-the-hill Par 3 Fifth. Though only playing about 100 to 120 yards(and about 150 from the Back Tees), 5 is a cliffhanger of a par 3 where accuracy with your lofted to long irons, or maybe even a hybrid, is a premium. Come up short, and your rolling straight back to the base. Go long and you will have a devilishly delicate chip to the green below.
The Ninth and 18th Holes, which run parallel to each other coming back to the Clubhouse, both play, like No.5, heading uphill to greens some 50, or so, feet above the tees and fairways. 18, a dogleg right Par 5 measuring a little less than 500 yards, gives goof golfers a better-
than-average shot at making par, or even birdie, and sometimes even eagle, to finish their round.
Galloping Hill’s Signature Hole is No.14, a long and treacherous Par 4 play-
ing uphill with out-of-bounds to the Right and a large pot bunker straight down its spine. The second swing is a blind shot to a green tucked into a hillside. Long grass and several bunkers come into play, left and around the putting surface catching wayward approaches and making double bogey a very real possibility.
“Galloping Hill Golf Course gives the golfer a country club feel at a municipal golf course. Being the crown jewel of the Union County Parks System, Galloping Hill is known as “the golf course that never sleeps.” With an 18-hole course and a 9-hole course, Galloping Hill hosts over 75,000 rounds of golf per year and over 400 social events in their banquet hall. In addition, they have a recently renovated sports bar named “The Hill Tavern” that welcomes not only golfers but thousands of local residents all year long,” said Galloping Hill’s General Manager Chris Flegar.
“The Learning Center at Galloping Hill opened in 2009, with 52 stalls (20 of them covered and heated for year-round use) and 4 practice greens for golfers of all experience levels to work on their game. Soon, they will be adding range technology to bring the already Top 50 GRAA rated practice facility to an even higher level.
To top it all off, Galloping Hill is not only the headquarters of the NJSGA as well as the NJ Golf Hall of Fame, but in 2016 was the first (and still only) public golf course chosen to host the New Jersey State Open. All of this adds up to a state of the art, full-service facility for everyone from the most experienced amateur or professional golfer to someone picking up the sticks for the first time.”

How the Art of Relationship Building is the Core of LaBar Golf’s Continued Success

As a business owner and an entrepreneur in the vigorous environment of sports, particularly golf, Rich LaBar has found his passion and established his golf family. As the CEO and founder of LaBar Golf, a highly esteemed golf course construction, renovation, and irrigation company based in New Jersey, LaBar’s journey to success is largely attributed to the art of relationship building and the impact of positive leadership. LaBar’s path to achieving his dream goes beyond rolling in the dozers and knowing the ins and outs of golf design; it’s about the connections made and maintained within the ever-evolving golf industry. Throughout the three decades of gaining experience, building relationships and launching the business, Rich has been able to not only build a career beyond his
wildest dreams but has also cultivated a community that is the foundation of his success.
LaBar’s love for the game of golf was established at a young age when he would tag along with his father, Richard LaBar Sr. who was an assistant superintendent at what is now Great Gorge Golf Club in Vernon, NJ. He went years without playing the game, but by observing every part of the business and embracing every moment in the field with his mentors, Gene Mulvihill especially, something about golf and the people alongside him made him feel at home and purposeful.
From the start, LaBar knew he couldn’t excel on his entrepreneur journey alone. He credits his wife Bridget and their two children, ages 9 and 12, for keeping him afloat during LaBar’s growth. “When we
met, Bridget was a sales executive in content distribution for NBCUniversal, and traveled a great deal. She knew how difficult it was going to be on a marriage and a family to launch a business”, said LaBar. “My wife’s unwavering encouragement and support since the company’s conception have been an invaluable treasure. Her belief in what we were building has truly been a priceless gift and I couldn’t do it without her.”
Coupled with his family, LaBar has always placed creating and maintaining relationships within the golf community at the center of his professional development. He knows the importance of truly connecting with every person he meets along the way, and he has not wavered from that value. “You do one project or meet one person which leads to a referral which leads to the next one and that’s how this business
grew,” LaBar said when explaining how LaBar Golf started to expand beyond the Northeast.
When LaBar Golf Renovations launched, the company’s work was limited to the Northeast where tough winters were commonplace. In a sense, these rough winter months, year after year, forced them to expand. “We needed to pay our bills, and payroll and cover equipment finances. So, we had to take the show on the road,” he said. LaBar leaned into relationships he had locally, particularly with those at Winged Foot Golf Club, a course his team had done work for previously. That trust and confidence led to LaBar’s first major project outside the New York Metropolitan area, Los Angles Country Club. “The Winged Foot team and its membership were thrilled with the work we did and supported our efforts to expand the company by way of great referrals and connections, LaBar said. “It just really started snowballing after that.”
The relationships LaBar has created and continues to nurture with his employees and the connections the employees have with one another is a testament to the experience and long-term connections that exist within LaBar Golf. “We have promoted within and built everything organically within this company,” said LaBar. Todd Saganiec, LaBar Golf’s Senior Vice President/Director of Operations, has been an intricate part of LaBar for almost 30 years. “When I was at the courses up in Sussex County, he [Todd] started working with me as a general laborer. He’s stayed with me and stayed with me all the way, managing projects, and everyone under me in the field reports to Todd,” explained LaBar. “Todd has 12 direct reports from each project superintendent, and each project superintendent has their own team. We try to never split those teams up so that the whole relationship stays completely cohesive.”
“Rich understands the importance of relying on the people in place to do a great job without ‘micromanaging’ every decision. Giving people the space to run projects with their own style allows them to take ownership and pride in each project” said Saganiec. “In turn, this allows our managers to mold teams, that go from project to project together, to their specific style. We take a lot of pride in training our employees
to execute to the highest standard in the most efficient way. We are the best in the business because of our ability to train and retain our managers and the crews that work alongside them.”
Soon after LaBar took off, the company established small teams within the company. “You have to learn the business before you can talk the business,” LaBar explains is the best advice for those new to the golf industry or any entrepreneur. He embeds the company’s new hires into projects with experienced employees who have been a part of LaBar Golf for 15 or so years. Rich believes this process allows the jobs to become more attractive to the younger guys by showing the growth and development opportunities available. “The seasoned guys take on a mentor role. If there are outside meetings with some architects and some board members, the new guys participate by just sitting in and listening. They can learn and see how the relationships work”, said LaBar. “See it, feel it, touch it and learn it from people that are my eyes and ears.”
In addition to relying on a team he trusts implicitly, LaBar still also manages a significant portion of the business himself which is another contributor to the company’s success. “I sell every single project, I close every single deal, I have relationships with clubs, the greens committees, the presidents, the general managers, and that’s one part of the business I don’t ever plan on giving up. I think that’s what has helped make
us as successful as we are,” expressed LaBar when talking about how the company has maintained success for so many years within a highly demanding business.
LaBar Golf Renovations launched LaBar Golf Irrigation in September of 2023. LaBar feels as though his golf family is complete with the addition of the irrigation sector. “We are known for being one of the fastest, most efficient and quality-driven companies in the business, and without having the irrigation division we were relying on either subcontracting that out to other irrigation companies, or the club would hire their own irrigation contractor. It makes us more efficient.” said LaBar when explaining the window of opportunity he saw when adding on the irrigation division.
Within LaBar Golf, LaBar has fostered a culture that mirrors positive values both personally and professionally which is key to how the company has been able to remain so tight knit while simultaneously growing exponentially. And the company only has more exciting things coming soon. LaBar Golf is currently building what is arguably their biggest golf course construction projects yet, Trout National Golf Club amongst numerous other club renovations and irrigation projects and plans to open a west coast office in California next year. “Business is good”, laughs LaBar “and we are already booking out to 2027”.

orth Myrtle Beach is known for many things. Being the Home of Wheel of Fortune’s Vanna White is one, of course, but being the home of Tidewater Golf Club is another.
Played partly right along the scenic, and peaceful, Cherry Grove tidal inlet, set along the low-country’s beautiful and natural landscape, Tidewater Golf Club is a must-see, and must-play, golf course that all golfers traveling to the Myrtle Beach area will absolutely love to play, and want to play again and again, and again.
Tidewater’s stunning landscape leaves golfers raving long after they’ve returned home. While beauty is at the heart of the Tidewater experience, it’s only part of what makes the property so very, very special. For ten years I’ve been wanting to play Tidewater Golf Club, and I’m so, so sorry that I waited so long to finally get to do so. Rated by Golf Digest as one of America’s “Top 100 Greatest Public Golf
Courses”(2011-2012), Tidewater has a feel similar to that of Pebble Beach, and sometimes TPC’s Sawgrass, and challenges players of all levels.
One of the courses’ prettiest holes is the picturesque Par 3 Twelfth Hole called “Wishing Well”. Set to carry water to an elevated two-tiered green guarded by bulkheads and bunkers short and left, the Tidewater’s 12th plays for a fade with some room to miss long and a chance to save par with a good chip and a putt.
Tidewater features nine holes that run
right along either the Cherry Grove Inlet, or the Intracoastal Waterway and wows golfers with truly incredible, and eye-popping, views and a layout that challenges every part of a players’ game. The beauty of the par 3 third hole highlights a trip along the waterway, with its putting surface perched along the edge of Cherry Grove. Named “Stranded”, the challenge of putting the ball on the proper tier is a thrilling test that has anchored thousands upon thousands of memorable Myrtle Beach golf trips.
Tidewater’s other signature aspect of its
terrific, and scenic, layout is in its many risk-reward options. Par Fives like the 13th, “Ocean Isle” force golfers to make some hard decisions about going for the green in 2, or laying back and going at it in a regulation 3.

Tidewater’s Fourth. “Futch Site”, named for a former overseer of the property, is the course’s No.1 Handicap, and one whale of
a Par 5 to get to try. Tidewater’s Teaching Professional Cory Hill explains.
“At 430 yards, the par-4 fourth hole at Tidewater Golf Club is considered the toughest on the course. The fairway turns slightly from right to left, with a few sand traps lining the right side and saltwater marsh on the left. The green is well-guarded by sand bunkers all around. Typically, the hole plays into the ocean breeze, adding to its difficulty. To play this hole effectively, I usually hit a driver, aiming just right of the 150-yard marker in the middle of the fairway. From the right center of the fairway,
I generally have about 175 yards left to the green, and I use an extra club to account for the ocean breeze and avoid the front bunkers. When aiming for the green, I aim for the middle and try to be below the hole. Being on the green doesn’t mean the challenge is over, as the green slopes severely from back to front.”

Golf Course Architect Stephen Kay

Certain parts of the country’s golfing landscape are just synonymous with particular golf course architects. Golf in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and you’ll likely be teeing it up at a popular Willard Byrd, Tim Cate or Dan Maples design. In New Jersey, there’s a very good chance that you’ll be playing a Stephen Kay golf course, or some other that he’s done some significant renovations upon.
A long-time instructor at Rutgers University’s renowned Professional Turf Management Program, Kay is the architect of Williamstown’s Scotland Run Golf Club and The Architects Club in Lopatcong. The Architects Club is what its name says, a course featuring holes inspired by Kay after most of the Golf’s greatest architects like Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast and C.B. MacDonald, Hugh Wilson, Alister MacKenzie, Walter Travis and St. Andrews’ Old Tom Morris.

McCullough’s, meanwhile, opened in the early 2000s, right across from Harbor Pines, is, like Architects, an inspirational layout featuring tree-less links par 3s, and Fours and Fives based on many of the world-famous British Open holes of Scotland, England and Ireland.

“Blue Heron Pines Golf Club located in Egg Harbor City New Jersey is a Stephen Kay designed that sits in the Pinelands of South Jersey approximately 25 minutes from Atlantic City. Stephen has designed a few other golf courses in the area including Harbor Pines and McCullough’s Emerald Golf Links,” said Bluer Heron’s PGA Director of Golf Wally Tittelmayer.
“The layout at Blue Heron Pines, Stephen designed is a very fair but challenging golf course. The course rolls and winds through the pine trees on the property. Each hole has its own unique character with no two holes liking similar, creating a fun and enjoyable round of golf. He framed many of the par 4’s and 5’s using fairway bunkers to create great site lines off the tee and rolling fairways to provide the golfer an opportunity to position themselves for easier approaches into the greens. Most greens are well bunkered and water hazards come into play on a handful of holes. The nice feature is he has provided the golfer with the ability to run their shot onto the putting surfaces without a forced carry on most of the holes. Utilizing all the features of the land provided his routing is exceptional, with some dogleg left and dogleg right holes, variation in length on his par 3’s from the short #11 over a pond to the long and demanding #16 with a green that sits up on a hill and runs away from the tee shot. Overall, it is a fun layout for golfers of various skill levels with a ton of character and charm.”

Over the past three to four years, as well, Kay, a master course renovator, who’s rejuvenated venerated golf courses like The Brigantine Links, and Philadelphia’s Union’ League Torresdale Country Club( a Ross course formerly known as Frankford-Torresdale Country Club), has had a huge hand in modernizing two more of South Jersey’s classic courses, Hammonton’s Pinelands Golf Club, and Atlantis Golf Course, part of the ocean County Parks and recreation Department in Mystic Islands near Tuckerton. At Atlantis, a George Fazio design opened in 1962, Kay’s work in irrigation, resodding greens, tree removal and reshaping, and shrinking, the
course’s many, and formerly penal, greenside sand traps making the course even more fun to play for County residents and visiting golfers alike.

BOYNE Golf Paying Homage to Donald Ross Continues at The Highlands
Four more revamped holes are now open at the Donald Ross Memorial, part of the Midwest’s largest golf resort destination.
As part of a multi-year transformation project to renovate northern Michigan’s Donald Ross Memorial at The Highlands, four additionally renovated holes are now open at the BOYNE Golf facility built to honor the legendary architect. The oneof-a-kind 18-hole layout is a composite re-creation of classic golf holes from iconic venues that the father of golf course architecture in America designed in the early part of the 20th century.
The latest holes to be completed include Hole 2 (No. 4 Plainfield Country Club), Hole 13 (No. 15 Seminole), Hole 15 (No. 11 Aronimink), and Hole 16 (No. 10 Pinehurst). Five holes have now been renovated to Ross’ original designs, and additional holes are on tap for renovation over the next few years.
Thirty-five years ago, BOYNE Golf’s founder, Everett Kircher, had a vision to create a new and unique golf course at the time that would pay homage to the golden era of classic course architecture and Ross. His vision was to re-create some of Ross’ signature holes from his top courses east of the Mississippi River. The course features classic renditions from historic venues like Seminole, Pinehurst No. 2, Oakland Hills, Oak Hill, Scioto, Detroit Golf Club, Aronimink, Wannamoisett, Plainfield, and Inverness, to name a few.
Today, President and CEO Stephen Kircher of Boyne Resorts continues his father’s vision by curating a pure Donald Ross experience for resort guests.
“When we began this journey in the late 1980s, Dad wanted to create a unique golf experience that no other resort had done before, replicating some of the great designs of famous holes in one compositive golf course,” said Kircher. “Bringing a focus
on arguably the most prolific and successful architect of the 20th century was the driving force in the selection of Donald Ross’ works, especially since so many of his best works were not readily available to the general public. This has been very exciting for us and our resort guests, who will now have a more genuine Donald Ross experience”.
Kircher and long-time BOYNE executive Bernie Friedrich, the Director of Golf Course Renovations and Development for BOYNE Golf, who is leading the project, were also part of the original selection and execution team during the course’s original development. They enlisted Michiganbased course architect and Donald Ross expert Ray Hearn to oversee it.
“We are thrilled with how these memorable holes have turned out,” said Friedrich. “Our objective with every hole has been to duplicate Ross’s original designs. More accurately following Ross’s original designs, we reshaped the fairways, creating addi-
tional angles into the greens and improving shot values. Along with more accurate positioning of bunkers and more exacting green complexes, golfers will experience creating an even more authentic Donald Ross experience. We cannot wait for the golf community to see the transformation.”
When the course was first built, some effort was required to focus on Ross’ elite private clubs. More than 50 Ross courses were visited and studied to determine the best holes to create.
“The opportunity we now have through technology makes this process so exciting,” explained Friedrich. “We didn’t have iPhones or camera phones back then, so we took pictures of the holes with a Polaroid camera. We now have more access to Ross’ original drawings, Google Earth data (past and present), CAD drawings, and, maybe most importantly, Lidar maps.”
How uncanny is the accuracy? “We were at the PGA Show in Orlando and ran into Jeff Kiddie, the PGA Head Professional at Aronimink,” says Friedrich. “I told him he should come and visit us sometime, as we have a Ross course with renditions of golf holes from around the country. I mentioned we just remodeled our 15th hole, which is their 11th. We showed him a picture of our hole, and he looked at it for a while and then said,
‘Did you get that picture off of our website’? That is how accurate the construction and attention to detail has been.”
Ross was known for designing some of the most outstanding green complexes in the game at places like Pinehurst No. 2, Oakland Hills, and Seminole, to name a few. This is where BOYNE Golf is excelling.
“The green complexes have always been a priority,” explained Friedrich. Today, through the new technology, we can gather photos and dimensions to replicate the green more accurately, creating an authentic Donald Ross experience. We are getting
the greens within one inch of their original grades now.”
Next on tap will be the 10th hole, a rendition of No. 14 at Royal Dornoch, where Ross grew up, was the superintendent, and learned the trade under Old Tom Morris. Construction starts in June and will be done by 2025.
“This hole is being completely redone to render one of the greatest holes in the world accurately. Our prior work did not begin to capture what this version of No. 14 will be…it will be, without a doubt, in my opinion, the finest of all 160 plus holes we have at Boyne Golf,” explained Friedrich.
“These new Donald Ross holes are more stunning to look at and have been met with positive reviews from our resort guests, who are core golfers. Omni La Costa Resort & Spa announces that following a comprehensive renovation of its Champions Course by Hanse Golf Course Design, the esteemed layout will revert to its original name, the “North Course,” and is open for resort guest and member play.
Originally designed by Dick Wilson and quickly becoming one of golf’s treasured destinations after debuting in 1965, Omni La Costa’s North Course previously served as a home to notable PGA Tour events. For thirty years, the resort hosted the Mercedes Championships (originally called the Tournament of Champions) from 1969 – 1998. In 1999, Omni La Costa hosted the inaugural WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship as well as six additional occasions. In 2010 and 2012, the resort hosted the Kia Classic, a popular LPGA Tour event.
The North Course will feature six sets of
tees creating flexibility to play from 4,500 to 7,500 yards in order to accommodate players of all skill levels. Additional portions of the completed project are environmental in nature, like transitioning irrigation lines that will continue to use reclaimed water, man-made ponds removed, and the reintroduction to natural barrancas composed of drought tolerant and native species.
The ‘South Course’ Returns
The Legends Course at Omni La Costa is also going back to its original name, the “South Course.” An ideal complement to the North Course, the parkland style 18 features mature trees, gentle doglegs and places a premium on accuracy off the tee.
Holes Nos. 10 – 18 on the South Course were used for the Mercedes Championships tournament routing over the decades. The impressive number of victories by the greats of the game at Omni La Costa includes Gary Player, Tom Watson, Phil Mickelson

2024 NCAA Women’s and Men’s Championships
Set to play 7,500 yards from the back tees, the par-72 North Course added to Omni La Costa’s rich history by returning the property to prestigious tournament golf when it hosted the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship and Men’s Golf Championship. The North Course is also scheduled to host the NCAA golf championships in 2025 and 2026 as well.
Hanse and his team implemented significant design changes with the NCAA’s match-play format in mind as well as fashioning a layout ideal for the best players in the game to test their skills at the highest level moving forward. Chief among the impressive new aspects is challenging players with more risk-reward decisions throughout their rounds. Specific changes include the creation of a drivable par-4 on

No. 11, a repositioned green on the par-3 16th hole reminiscent of Augusta National’s iconic 12th hole, and a stout finisher with the par-5 18th now playing over 600 yards from the back tee into the prevailing wind with water lurking on both sides of the fairway.

The golf course renovation work at Omni La Costa is joined by another project focused on reimagining the resort’s golf practice facility. Led by Beau Welling, and his firm, Beau Welling Design, the project focus is on elevating the practice experience with regrassing the lengthened driving range and expanded short game area. Toptracer technology is now available for the resort’s golf members as well as for instruction.
Similar to the North Course renovation, the practice range upgrades incorporate a new state-of-the-art irrigation system allowing the facility to maintain efficient usage of water for sustainability considerations while still exhibiting the highest maintenance standards.
