Durante nuestra amena conversación para esta exclusiva entrevista, recordamos que Luis Gómez ya trabajó para el Grupo Martinón, S.A., y cuenta con una experiencia de 14 años laborando en hoteles de negocios y 13 años trabajando en resorts para prestigiosas cadenas hoteleras en España y República Dominicana. Así que estamos hablando con un director general con una larga trayectoria en el negocio hotelero, quien es

el encargado de gestionar este nuevo hotel de lujo en el centro de Santo Domingo.

QUINTA DEL TURISMO: ¿por qué abrir un Hyatt Santo Domingo?

LUIS GÓMEZ: Hay varias razones para abrir un nuevo hotel con una marca que no tenía presencia hasta ahora en Santo Domingo. Los clientes siempre necesitan más opciones para elegir, dejando de lado que la competencia es algo muy necesario para cualquier mercado. Al mismo tiempo, los miembros de World of Hyatt no tenían ningún lugar para obtener y canjear puntos en una gran ciudad como Santo Domingo. Por último, pero no menos importante, si una ciudad quiere ser competitiva para luchar por algún tipo de eventos mundiales y grandes desafíos, siempre es necesario contar con el

apoyo de una gran oferta de alojamiento de alta calidad, por lo que estamos aquí para apoyar este tipo de interés también.

QT: ¿Cuál es el sello distintivo de esta marca para Santo Domingo?

LG: Sin duda, la forma como entendemos el servicio, y nuestra filosofía de Empresa respecto a la forma como cuidamos a nuestra gente, no importa si son clientes, propietarios, inversionistas o colaboradores.

QT: ¿A qué tipo de huésped está dirigido el Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo?

LG: El huésped corporativo es nuestro principal target hablando de segmentos de mercado, pero al mismo tiempo Hyatt Centric es una marca de estilo de vida, por lo que estamos realmente enfocados en clientes que quieren realmente entender lo que está pasando en Santo Domingo, y que quieren sentirse entre nosotros no como turistas, sino como un verdadero huésped; siempre tratamos de ser los mejores anfitriones.

QT: Además de los huéspedes, ¿personas no alojadas en el hotel podrán disfrutar de sus instalaciones?

LG: Por supuesto, nuestro restaurante a la carta Aon y nuestro Dúho Lobby Bar & Café Caobana, todos ellos en el mismo nivel que nuestro lobby (tercer piso del edificio) están abiertos a cualquier visitante que quiera disfrutar de nuestros servicios de restauración. De hecho, es un gran placer para nosotros darles la bienvenida sin importar cuándo quieran venir a visitarnos durante nuestro horario de apertura: 6:30 am comenzando con nuestro servicio de desayuno, y terminando a las 10:30 pm nuestro servicio de bar y cena.

QT: ¿Cuáles serán los mejores atractivos del hotel para los huéspedes y visitantes?

During our pleasant conversation for this exclusive interview, we remembered that Luis Gómez had already worked for Grupo Martinón, S.A., and has an expertise of 14 years working in business hotels and 13 years working in resorts for prestigious hotel chains in Spain and Dominican Republic. So, we are talking to a general manager with a long background in the hotel business, who is responsible for managing this new luxury hotel in the center of Santo Domingo.

QUINTA DEL TURISMO: Why open a Hyatt in Santo Domingo?

LUIS GÓMEZ: There are some reasons for opening a new hotel with a brand that has no presence so far in Santo Domingo. Clients always need more options to choose, leaving apart that the competition is something very necessary for any market. At the same time, members of World of Hyatt did not have any place to get and redeem points in a great city as Santo Domingo. Last, but no least, if a city wants to be competitive to fight for some kind of world events and major challenges, it is always necessary having the support of a large offer for high quality accommodation, so we are here to support this kind of interest too.

QT: Which is the distinguishing seal of this brand for Santo Domingo?

LG: No doubt, the way we understand the service, and our Company philosophy regarding the way we take care of our people, no matter if they are clients, owners, investors or colleagues.

LG: Of course, our Aon a la carte restaurant and our Dúho Lobby Bar & Café Caobana, all of them in the same level than our lobby (third floor of the building) are open to any visitor who want to enjoy of our dining services. Indeed, it is a great pleasure for us welcoming them no matter when they might want to come visit us during our opening hours: 6:30 am starting with our breakfast service, and finishing at 10:30 pm our bar and dinner service.

QT: What will be the hotel’s best attractions for guests and visitors?

La Cana Golf Club has 27 holes divided into three of nine, the last course, Hacienda was added in 2012. La Cana features 14 of its 27 holes with ocean views of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea. The golf course has Bermuda grass and four sets of tees on the nine holes at Hibiscus and Bougainvillea (three tees at Bougainvillea) provide golfers with a challenging layout.

Punta Espada, is the first Nicklaus flagship course in the Dominican Republic. What stands out most of its ecological characteristics are small cliffs or marine terraces where there are populations of the Rhinoceros Iguana or Cyclura Cornuta as it is scientifically known. Dye’s third golf course at Casa de Campo has 13 holes overlooking the Caribbean Sea and is a unique course with seven of the cliffs dropping 300 feet into the Chavón River offering spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, from the lush hills in the top of the Chavón cliffs, which challenge players with gusts of wind of up to 65 kilometers per hour, the Chavón River, Casa de Campo Marina and the Altos de Chavón artists’ village, a replica of an XVI century Mediterranean village. The course uses salt water as a form of irrigation, using the availability of the Caribbean Sea, to keep the golf course pristine.

Five holes are played around three large lakes, while the two par-3 holes provide a challenge (thanks to the small 'greens' running along the lake shore). The wind has a huge impact on the way the course is played, providing a different and challenging experience in each round.

Tiene hoyos muy retadores con green bastante pequeños y algunos con distancias de 206/215, 215/220, 188 yardas, dependiendo de las salidas y/o colocación de las banderas.

It is a flat and short golf course; it was built for the executives of the Falconbridge mining company. It is a Par 3 course, which has been remodeled and now has two Par 4 holes. It has very challenging holes with quite small greens and some with distances of 206/215, 215/220, 188 yards, depending on the exits and / or placement of flags.

Modelado en las montañas de la Cordillera Central dentro de un paisaje de pinos que delinean los fairways y con una exuberante vegetación, tiene una vista espectacular de las sierras circundantes. El campo es también conocido como Quintas de Primavera siendo el único de su tipo en la República Dominicana. Sculpted on the Cordillera Central mountains within a pine trees landscape that line the fairways and with lush vegetation, it has a spectacular view of the surrounding mountain ranges. The field is also known as Quintas de Primavera, being the only one of its kind in the Dominican Republic. The course's hilly terrain demands a bit of climbing during the game, making Jarabacoa a unique challenge for golfers of any skill level.

Este campo citadino constituye una “joya” en medio de un escenario de sembradíos de tabaco que bordean el sur de Santiago con ‘doglegs’ sofisticados y barreras naturales;

también con una vista panorámica maravillosa a Santiago, el Valle del Cibao, la cordillera Septentrional, con su Pico Diego de Ocampo, y al río Yaque del Norte. El terreno ondulado de Las Aromas crea suaves colinas y pendientes a lo largo del campo, así como tees y greens elevados. Aunque es un campo bastante corto, los fairways estrechos, los greens pequeños y numerosas trampas lo convierten en uno de los más difíciles en el país.

This city field constitutes a “jewel” in the middle of a scene of tobacco fields that border the south of Santiago with sophisticated ‘doglegs’ and natural barriers; also with a wonderful panoramic view of Santiago, the Cibao Valley, the Septentrional mountain range, with its Diego de Ocampo mountain, and the Yaque del Norte river. The rolling terrain of Las Aromas creates gentle hills and slopes throughout the course, as well as elevated tees and greens. Although it is a fairly short course, the narrow fairways, small greens and numerous bunkers make it one of the most difficult in the country.

La Asociación Dominicana de Zonas Francas (ADOZONA) realizó durante tres días su extraordinario “ADOZONA Business & Golf Weekend 2024” en el espectacular Corales Golf Course, reconocido por recibir allí el PGA Tour Event.

En la cena de clausura de esta decimoprimera edición, ADOZONA donó 500,000 pesos a la Fundación Comunitaria Zona Franca Santiago (FCZS) con el fin de aportar al bienestar de la comunidad. Asímismo, entregó los trofeos a los ganadores, siendo la dupla conformada por César y Freddy Rodríguez los que lograron el mejor score gross overall.

Los ganadores de los primeros lugares fueron Enrique Yunén y Luis Mera, en la categoría A; Albert Adam y Manuel Reyes, en la categoría B; en la categoría C, Marco Haché y Miguel Fernández y en la categoría Damas, Katherine Méndez y Josefina Pichardo.

El torneo contó con la presencia de Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, ministro de Industria Comercio y Mipymes, quien hizo el saque de honor el día jueves; Andrés Villoria, vicepresidente Banca Corporativa e Infraestructura de BHD, quien realizó el saque de honor del viernes y Luis Lembert, vicepresidente ejecutivo y gerente general, quien dio apertura al torneo del día final.

Tournament to benefit the Zona Franca Santiago Community Foundation

The Dominican Association of Free Trade Zones (ADOZONA) held its extraordinary “ADOZONA Business & Golf Weekend 2024” for three days at the spectacular Corales Golf Course, renowned for hosting the PGA Tour Event there.

At the closing dinner of this eleventh edition, ADOZONA donated 500,000 pesos to the Zona Franca Santiago Community Foundation (FCZS) in order to contribute to the community well-being. It also presented trophies to the winners, with the duo formed by César and Freddy Rodríguez achieving the best gross overall score.

The first places winners were Enrique Yunén and Luis Mera, in category A; Albert Adam and Manuel Reyes, in category B; in category C, Marco Haché and Miguel Fernández and in the Ladies category, Katherine Méndez and Josefina Pichardo.

The tournament was attended by Víctor Bisonó, Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, who made the honour kickoff on Thursday; Andrés Villoria, Vice President of Corporate Banking and Infrastructure at BHD, who made the honour kickoff on Friday; and Luis Lembert, Executive Vice President and General Manager, who opened the tournament on the final day.

La empresa BMCargo celebró con éxito rotundo la décima primera edición de su torneo de golf invitacional con tres días llenos de sorpresas, espectaculares fiestas, presentaciones artísticas, y emocionantes rifas y premios, teniendo como escenario el emblemático y majestuoso campo de golf Punta Espada en la Ciudad Destino Cap Cana.

Las palabras centrales del cierre del torneo estuvieron a cargo de Ramsés Atallah, presidente de BMCargo, quien agradeció a todos patrocinadores, jugadores, clientes, colaboradores y al staff de trabajo del torneo por su apoyo y soporte. “Este evento es totalmente altruista y en un año de recaudación récord,

donaremos RD$6,223,640.000 a beneficio de las Fundaciones Quiéreme Como Soy, Oír para Vivir, Faces Dominicana y María Laura. Que Dios continúe bendiciendo su obra. Nos vemos en 2025”, expresaba el Sr. Atallah quien también agradeció a su familia como principal pilar de su trayectoria.

El torneo tuvo una participación de 366 jugadores que compitieron bajo la modalidad Best Ball Stableford con el 70% del hándicap, y se realizaron premiaciones por día en base al score neto en las categorías A, B, y C por los caballeros, y una división de damas. Los ganadores absolutos del torneo fueron Marcel Olivares y César Rodríguez (Gross), y José Alejandro y José Manuel Aybar (Neto). Ambas

parejas se ganan un viaje con todos los gastos pagos a vivir la experiencia The Champs, en Portugal.

Durante los tres días de juego los ganadores fueron premiados en el Hospitality Tent, una impresionante estructura en la que simultáneamente corrían las actividades de damas que incluyeron masters clases, seminarios, y un market place abierto a las acompañantes. La cartelera de celebración y amenidades incluyó dos extraordinarios conciertos; el viernes en Playa Juanillo con la participación de Rosario Flores, y el cierre de lujo, el sábado, realizado en The Legend Arena del Dorado Park, con Juan Luis Guerra y 440.

The BMCargo company celebrated the eleventh edition of its invitational golf tournament with a great success, with three days full of surprises, spectacular parties, artistic presentations, and exciting raffles and prizes, taking place at the emblematic and majestic Punta Espada golf course in Cap Cana.

The tournament closing remarks were made by Ramsés Atallah, president of BMCargo, who thanked all the sponsors, players, clients, collaborators and the tournament staff for their support and assistance.

“This event is totally altruistic and in a year of record collections, we will donate RD$6,223,640,000 to benefit the Quiéreme Como Soy, Oír para Vivir, Faces Dominicana and María Laura Foundations. May God continue to bless your work. See you in 2025,” said Mr. Atallah, who also thanked his family as the main pillar of his career.

366 players participated at the tournament who competed under the Best Ball Stableford modality with 70% of the handicap, and awards were made each day based on the net score in categories A, B, and C for men, and a division for

women. The overall winners of the tournament were Marcel Olivares and César Rodríguez (Gross), and José Alejandro and José Manuel Aybar (Neto). Both couples won an all-expenses-paid trip to live the experience at The Champs, in Portugal.

During the three competitions days, the winners were awarded in the Hospitality Tent, an impressive structure in which ladies’ activities were held simultaneously, including master classes, seminars, and a market place open to their couples.

The celebration included two extraordinary concerts; on Friday Rosario Flores at Playa Juanillo and the luxurious closing on Saturday, held at The Legend Arena at Dorado Park, with Juan Luis Guerra and 440.
